  1. yes, I am going to test a few CD's too. any starting/reference point would be greatly appreciated
  2. sounds like you might be liking this wax??? it is the prettiest wax I have used.
  3. so far, so good . I am having good results w/RRD wicks. But it is not a large container- it is 4" in diameter, but only 4oz.HTH
  4. just wanted you all to know, that you CAN pour the 464 slushy :yay:. it comes out beautiful. I tried this because of a project, where I want the candle to set up quickly after pouring.
  5. so far I have tried the LX's and the RRD's. The RRD's are giving me a better throw/melt pool, but they do mushroom. Melissa @SoyCandle is sending me a few Stabilo's (CD's) to try. I am working on single-wicking a dessert bowl that is 4" in diameter. So far I have successfully used an RRD 47 and an RRD 50 (2 different FO's)
  6. don't know that it's the cheapest, but I have always used the EcoSoya PB. ALways performed well. I did try a small sample of the 474 for votives (that I don't do anymore) it released better, but frosted a bit. I only make tarts now, so the Eco works for me.
  7. basic "rule of thumb"....1hr per inch in diameter, so if your jar is 3 inches in diameter, it may take 3 hrs to reach a desired melt pool. And when you get your wicking down, remember to go up a size for the darler/heavier oils. HTH
  8. JS Pumpkin Nog is killer, and not spicey at all
  9. another vote for Pink Suger- I have NG's
  10. I have used the new GB 474, and the EcoSoya PB- both w/ great results using 8-9% FO (even @ 6% w/the stronger ones) 474 releases better, but I only do tarts now. HTH
  11. been using it for over a year. it is the "prettiest" wax I have used. I have had great results w/top quality FO's @ 6%. I heat to 155, color, add FO, and pour between 115-125 (depends on what time of year it is) the only "issue" I have some trouble with is wetspots, but most people don't notice unless you point them out. Frosting has NOT been an issue. HTH
  12. I would wait and see if it "catches up" on this burn or the next, before I changed wicks.
  13. patience my dear John......gots to have patience
  14. Greetings and welcome !! In the GeneralCandlemaking Forum, there is a thread at the top, of links for Newbies. There are also various threads at the top of each different forum. ISO = In search of WSP = Wholesale Supplies Plus Also in reference to your ? about AH- for what application will you be using your FO's? Are you doing candles (what kind of wax) or B&B, or both?? HTH
  15. luv luv luv the Celtic Moonspice If you want a great one for sinuses- the Avalanche is killer. I have to say that I was not that happy w/a few of their others that are recommended for soy though . Especially the Essence of Bethlehem- hardly any throw.
  16. OMG- I honestly do not think you'll be disappointed !!!!!!
  17. Greetings :wave:and welcome to the "joy of soy". Where abouts in this lovely state of ours are you?? I am in Citrus County, on the Gulf coast. Anyway, all I can say is.....take your time and don't overwhelm yourself w/too much testing of too many things at the same time- but most importantly....HAVE FUN :highfive:. Ask away. Search away. There is alot of great info and super people here.
  18. I have to say that I am not familiar w/that ADM wax. I have tested a couple of their other pure soys.....they have a great scent throw, but are a bit difficult to wick and have a tendency to frost when colored. But who says you can't have some fun and play around w/it HTH
  19. where I live, people like "small" and "cheap" stuff :rolleyes2. I sell my tarts for .75ea, or 3/ $2. alot of the time they like to buy a variety of scents.
  20. how neat is that!!!! need to ask- what kind of wax, and how do you "whip" it
  21. I have been using this wax for just over a year now. I heat to no more than 150-155, add FO @ 140-145, and pour @ 125 in the warmer weather and @ 155 in the colder weather (into warmed jars). I generally use 6% FO. If I don't get a good throw w/that- I don't use it. Some of the darker/heavier oils I can even cut back. Frosting is not an issue, but wetspots are and I can deal w/those. HTH
