  1. When I used to pour the plumeria candles, AND I had plumeria scented lotions...I was in a Starbuck's once, and the barista asked me WHAT are you wearing? I told her it was plumeria scented lotion that I mix...she had me make her some and bring it to the coffee shop! The candles sold FAST, every.single.time I made them I know that Save On Scents is expensive, but this one is a must have. They also have an amazing Nag Champa, Honeysuckle and Hawaiian Pikake. All sold well for me in any medium (Lotion, Candles, Incense)
  2. I used to use the zinc wicks in the C3 and they worked just fine "back when", but can't remember which ones I used. This C3 soy just wants to..well...sit there! I also burned them in much larger rooms, maybe that's why I never noticed an overabundance of soot?
  3. Height is 4", and yes, it's glass. I've been test burning a lot with the zincs, and when I had a "real house", I never noticed the amount of soot with these. In the "current" C3 soy, they seem to burn too cool when all I'm adding is dye and scent. I need something hotter with less soot. Thank you for your reply, I'll order up some of those and try them out.
  4. Well, I'm in the middle of ordering from Candle Science and I'd like to toss in some wicks to try in a 3" diameter jar with C3 soy. Any suggestions? I'm not liking the amount of soot I'm getting from the zinc wicks, so I'd like to try a few alternatives since I'm ordering anyways. Also, does CS have any "must have" scents that you can recommend? I've never ordered from them before. Thanks for any help!
  5. I have Fruit Slices from Lone Star. I'm thinking it may be too sweet for an incense. Better to use that in a candle and see what happens. Most of my incense customers go for standard scents that they are accustomed to.
  6. Really cool suggestions! I also just finished testing my first pyramid, odd wick behavior (which I expected). When lit, the top burns fast n' crazy..but then, it settles down to a beautiful burn as the pyramid thickens. I'm going to downwick my next one, and see how that turns out. I'm only going down one size, because I think anything smaller will drown in the wax. Yes, I know it's addicting!! You should have seen my former next door neighbor after we made candles at my house! She was buying LOADS of oils, LOL! Way more than I had at the time!
  7. I agree that ebay may be a good place to sell, I did pretty well on there and worked from home. We vend full time, so we have over 180 active selling days per year. YES, it's sometimes quite grueling (especially Dec. to Feb. when it's 7 days a week!) Probably why I wanted to get back to playing with wax during our slower times, I find it relaxing and rewarding. But, the travelling is FUN! Can't wait to spend a lot of time this summer surrounded by wax, wicks and loooovely fragrance oils I met a really cool lady barber down in Quartzsite last Feb, she had a really cool, spiky haircut that I liked, so I had her cut my hair in layers. She did a great job! Works in the Quartzsite out of the back of a toy hauler RV, barber chair all set up with a spritzer bottle, lol! She stopped by our booth in Havasu twice lately, maybe I should strike up a deal with her to barter clothing for cuts?
  8. 'Eh, I've never had a problem reheating wax with the FO in it. I stand there the entire time I'm remelting/pouring. I keep the hot plate on a low setting in between the pours, then raise it when I need to reheat. Easy peasy.
  9. You can try to find a flat griddle, or any other type of plug in vessel at the thrift stores. I saw one a few weeks ago at the Good Will store, but I didn't buy it. I don't need it quite yet. So, in the meantime, I just keep the water hot on the double boiler to reheat while doing layers of wax/repours.
  10. This is a GREAT idea! I may have to hit a few salons! Ditto the craft shows, they're fun to do and you may get a regular, local account out of the exposure.
  11. The one we saw smelled pretty good. Kind of "fruity"? The store we visited had a lot of candle selections, from soy to the fake flamed ones. We were goofing off that afternoon so we thought we'd drop in and check out their offerings, and possibly pay a later visit to see if the owner might want to buy some of my candles at a later date. She wasn't exactly "friendly", so I did not approach her with the idea. Maybe I will, maybe I won't.
  12. Thank you, Scented! I'm so glad I found this site! I love to dabble in crafty things and candle making has always intrigued me!
  13. Wow! These DO look tie dye! I just love this! When I get more stuff in the mail, I'll have to try this! It would look awesome on my tables and go with our other stuff in our booth! Thanks for a truly great idea! Rut-roh, I don't have any liquid dyes, only the wax blocks. Back to the ordering list......
  14. Hmm...I may just have to make one of these! I'm waiting for some new wicks to come in this week, so I can continue testing the pillars. Do these end up looking like tie dye? I loooooove tie dye
  15. I saw these at a local gift shop we visited here in Havasu, and they had the candles priced at $35! Same brand, Capri. A bit spendy for a jar candle, huh?
  16. How do I do a marble? I've never done one. My past candle pouring were just soy jar candles.
  17. Those plastic lids you posted may be the way to go. I like the way they go inside the jar, instead of protruding from the top. Cost, space and weight are always an issue for us.
  18. Oh, this sounds yummy! Post a picture of your melts. *Note to self, Flaming Candle Coconut Cream
  19. Wonder is these would fit? Decisions, decisions...http://www.eapinnovations.com/Z7845--Silver-Cover-Pack-of-12_p_1610.html
  20. Gee, that was fast! Thank you so very much. I did find these, too....expensive! So now, I have to think about which one I'd like to get....decisions, decisions...what do you think of these? https://www.candlescience.com/containers/bronze-metal-flat-lid Wondering if I should go more "upscale", or use the plastic lids?
  21. I should be receiving a sampling of the Pro Blend parasoy any time now from Flaming Candle, so I was wondering about comparisons of these two waxes. What are the pros and cons comparisons of these two in your experience? It will help me in my testing if I have a starting point as far as wick choices. The jars I'm going to use are the 3.25 diameter status, which are 4" tall. Thanks so much, can't wait to get the new wax to play with
  22. Since I used to use these jars for candle making anyways, and have a rough idea on wicking them, I'd like to continue testing the waxes in these jars. They're from Dollar Tree. My question is this, what size lids fit these jars if I am to order them online? Trying to save on shipping the jars, when I can just get them locally. Also, their web site doesn't say how many ounces they are. I don't have any empty ones to measure right now, and DT is out of stock on them. https://www.dollartree.com/Wholesale-Church-Supplies-Bibles-and-Personal-Care-at-DollarTree-com/Candleholders/Rocks-Glass-Candle-Holders-4-inch/c962c911p294384/index.pro Thanks for any help
  23. This scent seems to be everywhere, what does it smell like? How good are the sales on stuff scented in this? I'm going to make more oil purchases to test, and I think I'd like to add this to my list for incense and candles. What company has the best Volcano scent that you have tried? Thanks a bunch, in advance for any input.
  24. I had a web site for many years, and I hope this helps? There aren't many candle scent selections yet on the site, but you're off to a good start. You only have four scents. I noticed on your Wax Melts section that your first item listed is "out of stock". I would just hide it from sight until it is back in stock. Add more scents here, too. The site looks slick and ready to roll, now you need to fill it up with a lot more content, which includes using keywords and text throughout the site. Write about what the candles are made of, what the warmers are made of, peppering your descriptions with SEO keywords. Write about occasions for gift giving, i.e., Birthday Gifts, Mother's Day, Christmas, etc. When people search for gifts, they will probably use one of those keywords in search. I spent many late nights adding text and inventory items to my site. Also, tell your story of how your business was started, and make it interesting. People want to know who you are, etc. Are you a family business? How long have you been in business? You must establish trust when selling online, so they feel like they know who they are dealing with. I will have to say, you've only been up for six weeks, it takes quite a long time to get ranked by Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc. search engines. It could be months. Your site may not appear in search for several pages, and people will typically click on the first page or second page results. Some will venture further, but it takes a great deal of time to get listed in search engines and you won't get ranked for quite some time. Your best bet is to keep enriching your content so that when someone searches, they can find you. I hope any of this helps?
