  1. I guess I don't understand why any chandler would temper their wax if the manufacturer's are doing this on their end already as Stella has pointed out. I personally have tried both methods mentioned and saw no physical difference nor any difference burning in my wax of choice. I guess each person should decide what they want to go through to make their wax of choice behave for them. I pour too many candles to wait the hours it takes for a melter to cool and then reheat. If that's what it took for me turn out a quality candle I would be moving on to a different wax pronto. But this is my business. If you have the time, spend all the time you want on each candle.

  3. Honeysuckle, Lilac, Lemon Poundcake, Mandarin, Ocean, Cucumber Melon and Strawberry Shortcake. I still sell the regulars but sell about twice as much of these scents in the spring and early summer.
  4. I have tried it both ways unintentionally and wouldn't waste my time with it. I don't have time to waste in my business and found it easier to pick a wax that produces the candle I want without doing twice the work.
  5. Is that a new phone #? I haven't had to order since Sept and had the other programmed into my phone. Will update if that is a new #.
  6. I should probably clarify...I display/sell candles and melts in about 65 scents and I do not use color. cedar_lea makes some great points about color and display that make a lot of sense. I use shelves, risers, custom displays, organza drapes, etc to provide color and movement which makes my candles pop out being the tradition constant element in my display. It's funny how your type of products can change your display 100% Good luck and post pics when you get it all figured out
  7. I use 464 and heat to 175, measure into pour pot and add 7-7.5% FO immediately (anything more than that gives me seepage in a lot of my scents). I stir and set on a step stool in front of my fan to help cool quicker. I don't know what temp I pour at, I just feel the pour pot and when it is feeling like I could pick it up and hold it barehanded easily then I pour.
  8. I set up by jar size. My customers seem to want a particular jar and then pick a scent. It is also easier to have a price sign without explaining what price each size is constantly. I've tried it by both ways and this was best for me.
  9. I got in on a sale at Dell online and got a laser a year ago. Still working on the initial ink and I use it a lot. The quality if primo but the printer is the size of a cooler-lol. It is actually about 15x15x15 so it is pretty big.
  10. I use long stainless steel spoons. I use a turkey roaster instead of an oven to warm and clean. I heat my pour pots and spoons in there to wipe them out so I don't have to have and store so many. I have 8 pots and spoons so I just keep rotating as wax cools and I pour it.
  11. TVG site is useless and always has been. But the quality is good and the service is great. The number I have is 315-453-0920 and I talk to Phil I think it is. I had a lid problem and they shipped me replacements with no problem once they figured out what was wrong. If you call they will fax or mail your their price list and it has some of the products on it or just call and ask them if they have what you want to use. They have jars that I have never seen on their price lists but I also haven't had a current list in a while as I just order the same old, same old.
  12. Great oils. Sky high shipping. My last abandoned cart was $6 over shipping from 2 other suppliers that were the same distance away. I'm done with suppliers trying to make money on shipping. I would order a lot more from them if they would cut out the candy and the pen and charge me actual shipping.
  13. Yup. Another chandler I know bought a bunch from them and all tarnished horribly within 6 mo or so also. Hopefully they have changed suppliers as this was a year or so ago.

  15. Tell us how they work when you get them and what they look like. Labels By The Sheet has been very inconsistent for me. One time I get glossy, the next I get the rough kind (which I love!) and no explanation for it. I want to use just one but never know which I will get and never get a reply when I email them. I need to call before I order next time to find out which is in stock so I don't get screwed up again and continue with different styles of label finish.
  16. Unless they are paying for air shipment it does take a while by sea. We order from far east and it is usually 45 days in shipping and sitting on the dock before and mfg process...we order 3 months out from when we need things as a rule. Not candle stuff, other stuff for day job. I'm bummed, I was hoping to change from the shiny to the brushed soon.
  17. I think Elements posted a date they will have Flicker's oils in and it's pretty quick. You might check their site if you don't get a good rec that compares to Flicker's. I don't use the scent so can't help - sorry
  18. I made small flowerpot soy candles with KY's cornbread. They smelled just like cornbread and I figured they would be a scent that I would put on clearance when it didn't sell-lol. They all sold at the show I took them to and I have had requests for it again.
  19. I am dropping reed diffusers. I hate making them, hate worrying if they will lead in shipping and hate carrying them to shows and having people lift out the reeds and mess up my tablecloths. Adding lip balms back in. I hate labeling them but they sell well and since I quit doing them last year I have had people asking for them at every show. Changing out lids on my tumblers also. A friend gave me the ones from Maddison Avenue Candles (The Scented Nest I think is their supply end) and they all rusted. They can be buffed clean but it keeps coming back. Crappy lids and high shipping - what a winner. Anyhoo, going with brushed lids so the fingerprints don't show, but not from them! Other than that I'm just dropping my bottom 10% sellers in scents and leaving room to add a few new this year.
  20. I hope I didn't make it sound like she was going OOB - I sure didn't mean that. As long as I have bought from her, the OOS stuff has been a thorn but it is definitely not a sign that she is going out of business. She has top-notch oils and a good nose for what sells. She just is hard to count on as a main supplier due to having to wait 30 days to a few months for an oil. I guess the solution is to buy a bunch when you find something that sells for you. Remind me of that in about August so I will have some for the holidays-lol!
  21. She's not too good at keeping things in stock. Then she will finally run a pre-buy which delays it another month. Wonderful oils but you can't count on her to have stock when you need it. It's a balancing act I guess. You have to have the product to get people to buy from you but you need people to buy from you to have enough funds to buy oils. It's a shame, she could do so well if only there were more oils to choose from in stock.
  22. Could be true but their site has been under construction for over a year and half. I have looked for their scent names several times and have always had to google some of their retailers to find info.
