  1. Have you called Impact and asked them if they are available? A mfg should be able to tell you if it is standard or custom size and quote the prices.
  2. I emailed and asked on the fragrances and the reply was that it was taking some time to get them, tested again and site work also. They were hoping to have done by early April I believe. But definitely still coming.
  3. WOW, I did not know this. Our mail carrier is great and he can pick up everything if he gets an incentive too. Will have hub ask him; hub waits for the guy to come a few times a week and they trade insults like get a haircut and a real job, etc-lol.
  4. Ahhh, Yankee! I don't enjoy most of their scents and haven't been in one of their stores in a while. I think the last Yankee thing I bought was a Mango Salsa tart from Kohl's or somewhere like that and it smelled pretty good. But I quit shopping Yankee when the Buttercream started smelling different, not a deep. That was probably around when they sold out-lol.
  5. Mmmmm...Butternut Pumpkin! Goldleaf & Hydrangea is always a customer fav too. Try Pomegranate Cider - it is like a sparkling pom scent.
  6. Google brings up several that say they are 3.5 oz but I really think you might be getting the same thing you already have and people are just rounding up or using the old "approximately". You might see what google brings up for you or check with a couple of the actual manufacturers.
  7. NPC is doing that. The survey I got to fill out made it sound mandatory if you processed through NPC and I was charged the yearly fee of $90 (I think that was what it came to) last week before I even knew what was going on. I probably signed something when I signed up authorized stuff like that but it doesn't sound like a bad idea at this point. I don't have customer cc's around here but I suppose the wireless transactions could be intercepted in a one in a million chance... I don't think you have to admit it...it can probably be proven eventually if it came through you.
  8. I can't speak for all but I use Jackel and have for years. I have never had a single customer who couldn't get a tart to melt contact me. I have melted soy tarts, paraffin tarts from other chandlers and yankee tarts and all worked fine. I guess watts must be different in a hot plate vs a light bulb?
  9. I wonder if it could have happened through authorize.net? A couple of the suppliers mention they process through them... I have not been hit (knock on wood) and have been watching my accounts like a hawk. I have had 4 cards in the last year on the same account compromised though so I sure feel for you guys.
  10. Mine is the 16oz apothecary jar from TVG with non-handled lid.
  11. I don't think it takes a year of testing to get it right unless you want it to. You really don't have to know how every wax performs, just the ones your are interested in. You can test every wax if you want but I would test a couple from the closest supplier to you. When I started I used 1 wax for jars and 1 wax for votives and made about 15 scents. I started in the spring, tested over the summer and was selling in the fall. Then I started adding scents, changing jars and about 2 years in moved from paraffin to soy. Once you know how your wax of choice works and how to wick it, just test each new scent top to bottom in each jar (I usually pour clamshell tarts first and then pour a couple of each size jar in that scent if I like it enough to think about carrying it). I rarely have to change wicks from my normal but it does happen and that is one reason I test. I have been selling for 9 years and have made a profit every year but the very first even if a couple of those years it was not a large amount. You just need dedication, enough cash to start in a big enough way to do all the testing and a lot of hours in the day to burn those candles...and loyal customers, lots of places to sell or a way to drive customers to your site (I'm obsessed with staying on page 1 for wholesale soy candles-lol) and insurance - get that insurance in place as soon as you start to give out candles even if they are freebies. Have fun!
  12. I say it is wicked a little hot because the MP was deep in less than an hour but the cup was cool. I think these containers are great and wish we could get our hands on them too. Looks like they were made for Slatkin.
  13. Stopped by this afternoon and they have a lot of new scents in both the bath items and candles. They had these cute little candle cups like overgrown tealights. They hold 1.6oz with a clear poly cover on them. 3 for $5. I got Pink Sangria, Calypso Sun and Sparkling Mojito. I have been burning one the last hour and although it is wicked hotter than I might do, it is surprisingly strong. I also got the antibacterial liquid hand soap in a Fresh Cherries, Lime & Basil as well as the Sangria and Mojito. They had about 5 different fruits. I wish I could find a mojito this nice. It is a combo of lemon slices, sparkling pomelo and crushed mint leaves layered with orange zest and iced sugar cane. Sweet and zesty, can't smell much mint but nice.
  14. Taking tart sales from Scentsy is like taking candy from a baby. Their warmers are great but the wax leaves a lot to be desired. Most people realize what they are getting from Scentsy at an overblown price and will be loyal customers for you and other handmade candle makers once they try ours. I have even melted a couple tarts in a Scentsy warmer at a show just to show that you can use our wax in their pot.
  15. When I made votives the edges would sometimes be rough where I didn't quite pour as nicely as I should. I put knee hi panty hose on my hands and buffed the edges. Easy peasy.
  16. I sell oils in .5 oz and 1oz. Sell 60+ monthly of the .5oz and about 2 of the 1 oz. Much easier to sell at a show than from web but show peeps reorder on the web every now and then.
  17. I do back to back all the time. It truly is just keeping your finger on your stock levels, never losing track of your ordering and not sleeping much:laugh2: Definitely doable but you really need to know what qty you sell at your avg show to know how to stock. The first year I tried to do it, I failed miserably. But I learned what it took to do them. Now I can bust out weeks in a row without a worry but it takes time management. You gotta play if you want to win - good luck!
  18. try ebay, pretty cheap on there
  19. Sliver, you had a Violet scent on one of your best seller lists. Do you still carry it or is it from a supplier that is gone? I would love to find a good violet
  20. Creme Brulee Apple Butter Cinnamon Sticks Strawberry Shortcake Indonesian Teak Sugared Spruce I'm in Oklahoma, city not rural
  21. Gotta agree on that Bacon scent - icky. The smoked part is way too strong. I couldn't get a single taker on that one. One woman was debating but decided she might be teasing her dog if she took it and I was offering it to her free!
  22. Agreed on the suppliers vs retail. I refuse to help a supplier undercut my business. On the free shipping. I have been kicking around raising the prices $1 on everything and offering free shipping. I buy where there is free shipping or at least a reduced rate. Maybe raise everything $1 and then charge $2.50 for shipping any size order. Or maybe it's a stupid thought, lol. I'm stil in the thinking it over phase.
  23. I agree. It takes a couple long burns to overcome short burns if they are the first burns but the candle does catch up once longer burns are done.
