  1. So my chandler partner and I have an old candle (almost 2 year old) of Bonfire Bliss (from RE) that we both love. I should note that in wax it smelled NOTHING like OOB. We just rediscovered this candle and wanted to add it to our winter lineup. Got the new oil, put it in a tester with same wax and wick, and at almost two weeks cure time, it smells NOTHING like the 2 year old candle. Not even close. We don't even like it. Has Bonfire Bliss changed? Has anyone here used Marshmallow Fireside (from JS or Indigo)--wondering if that is similar to the fire/evergreen/marshmallow scent we are going for. Is Marshmallow Fireside more sweet or smokey? We adored that original candle and can't seem to duplicate it.
  2. Do most scales tell you when the battery is low? I'm wondering this about my scale, now.
  3. I too, use 464 with an 8 oz jar w/ a 2.75 inch diameter and betweeen 6-8% fo. I have found that Premiers work best for us for all but a few fragrances. We generally use 750 or 755 as a starting point, but will wick up if the scent is woodsy or smokey, bakery or vanilla, or musky at all-usually start with a 760 for those. Each candle often requires a few different wicks to see what throws the best. What I like about Premier is that they have a huge range of sizes. With the CDs, sometimes I wanted an "in-between" size and it wasn't available. That being said, it is more costly and takes more time to find the perfect wick for each fo.
  4. I don't hate it, I just don't love it like I immediately love some fos. The new CS White Birch for example, or the new Wassail from there. Both of those were good OOB but were amazing in wax to my sniffer--even just the cold throw. I will wait until it's cured and then give it a test burn. This many people who love it can't be wrong!
  5. I am not super impressed with Christmas Hearth OOB or in wax yet. Hoping it will develop as it cures--I know it gets rave reviews from everyone. I rarely have had a "dud" from CS--their oils are top-notch.
  6. I use the 8/9 oz flint straight sided jar with Premier Wicks. Here's a pic of our jar/label for one of our fall scents (this is Flaming's "Leaves").
  7. Trappeur, does Christmas Hearth throw well for you? I use 464 at either 6 or 8%.
  8. I am looking for a snow/winter fragrance that does not scream "Christmas" or have a ton of tree scent. I'm currently curing Brambleberry's Sleigh Ride (so far all I smell is mint), CS Christmas Hearth (Is that too Christmasy?), and Rustic Escentuals Winter Nights (really don't like that one). I would LOVE your suggestions!
  9. Leaves from Flaming has a fantastic cold and hot throw in 464. It's a good dupe to White Barn's Autumn from many years ago. I am suspecting it will sell well this fall.
  10. We have done very well with our candles at craft shows and have had so many people ask us what local stores we are selling at. We have an opportunity for a space in a consignment store, with low booth rent, but it's not super high traffic. We'd REALLY love to get into a few local boutiques (there are quite a few in a nearby beach tourist town). What is the best way to go about doing this? Phone, email, just stop in with samples?
  11. I just ordered the Aztec one, so I will let you all know how I like it when I get it into wax.
  12. I am looking for a good waffle and maple syrup combo. Does anyone have any recommendations for a scent or blend for this? I LOVE waffles, and really would love this for our fall/winter lineup.
  13. I love Bonfire Bliss for a camping scent--it's the perfect combo of fire, evergreen, and hint of marshmallow. I am still looking for a perfect "straight fire" scent that is not too meaty (WSP Cracklin Firewood) or Cologney (CS Fireside). Any more suggestions?
  14. In making candles for our fall/winter sales, we are wondering what to do w/ our summer stock. How long do the candles stay good for? Can we keep what we've recently made and sell them next spring?
  15. What are some of your favorites from Save on Scents? Ordering a few from here to blend, and wanted to try a few others. Suggestions?
  16. I was bummed too. pcbrook, Grass stain from Brambleberry is very close to Peak's Tall Grass.
  17. Following this--also looking for a good fire smell.
  18. Also following this thread--looking for the perfect fireside scent, as well. Finding WSPs Crackling Firewood to be a bit strong and maybe a bit "smoked meat" smelling OOB. jbradshaw, I am still working on wicking the 8 oz straight sided jars and have had really good luck with Premiers--most scents do well w/ a 750 or 755, a few stronger ones need a 760. Like them a lot.
  19. Well, Whoops turned into a major disaster. Wax melted just fine in the oven--no problem at all. However, when I took the cookie sheet that the jars were on out of the oven, I accidentally dropped it and the wax spilled all over the inside of my oven and one of the glass jars broke, as well. Talk about a mess!!!! And the wax is wasted, as well.
  20. Thanks Trappeur! I was thinking the oven, as well--any suggestions on temp? I will likely take the labels off b/f I do so.
  21. Seconding Peak's carrot cake, although I've not put it in wax yet, but it smells great OOB.

    Room Sprays

Also giving room sprays a go. Do most of you use the full 2% FO in these?
  23. So, my daughter was helping me wick my jars, and she accidentally put the wrong wick size (445 instead of a 455--two sizes too small) in one of my candles. I need to re-melt 5 of them and re-wick them. What's the best way to do this? FYI--they are already labeled and ready to go.... They have cured two weeks and our show is on Saturday.
