  1. I just got an order from Just Scent, and Chestnuts and Brown Sugar smells EXACTLY like Butter Rum Lifesavers Candy to me!
  2. Does anyone think I need to cut down on fragrance oil? I've already wicked up from a 755 to a 780, and the flame is still barely there.
  3. I cured for 3 weeks. TallTayl, which size eco would you suggest I try? Wax is 464.
  4. So trying to wick TFC's Campfire fo (which is fantastic, btw) in GB464. I scented at 8% and every wick I've tried basically burns out within an hour or so. I'm currently testing a Premier 780 wick (for a 2.75 inch diameter width candle), which is crazy high. It's staying lit, but small flame and little HT Do I need to lower the FO or keep wicking up? Picture attached after a little over a 1 hour burn.
  5. I've made a tester from The Flaming Candle's Campfire, and it's absolutely perfect. Straight smoky fire scent w/ no perfume or anything else. The only thing is that I'm having a heck of a time wicking it--have wicked up twice now and it's still underwicked. This is the STRONGEST fo I've had to wick. May need to back fo down to 6% (I'm doing 8).
  6. Thanks, TallTayl. How many sizes do you need to wick up? I currently use 464 w/ Premier wicks.
  7. TallTayl, I can't get Almond Cybilla from BB to throw in 464 at all. Any suggestions? Do you need to wick it differently or something? The CT is amazing, but no HT.
  8. This has been my quest for nearly 2 years! I need a sweet almond (think almond extract or almond paste) that has a great HT! I can get ones w/ fantastic CT, but HT either is super weak or turns bitter. I am trying to duplicate a dutch recipe of almond paste, butter, vanilla, and flaky crust. I have mixed multiple fragrance oils and just can't nail this one. I don't want any almond w/ cherry tones (aka Jergens), which many of them have. Has anyone tried either Almond Cookie or Almond Macaroon from Just Scent? Almond Cybilla from Brambleberry is nice, but it doesn't throw at all. I need your help/advice please!
  9. Moonstar, our biggest customer for that scent is teen/college-age girls. They think it smells like men's cologne.
  10. Wow! That is one of our top sellers! Crazy how we all have different sniffers!
  11. Thanks, Trappeur. Always appreciate your insights. Hubby is an MBA so he feels like he has some advice to give. But I am not looking to quit my day job--just enjoying my hobby, making some extra spending money, and LOVE watching people get excited about our candles. They would buy outright. They do have a few other candles in their shop--much larger 12-18 oz candles with very fancy, expensive looking jars priced at b/t $24-$26. They were clearing out another candle line (only had 2 left) for $15 each that looked old and didn't smell very good. Because the candles there would just be "extras," (the majority of their stock is clothing, jewelry, and shoes), I don't worry too much about minimums. I was thinking of asking for a minimum of 24 candles, they could choose assorted scents based on what best fits their clientele (upscale place--totally different crowd from the rustic place where we also sell). Do you think that minimum is too much? Have you ever done a line sheet/catalog? Thanks again for your advice and kind words about our packaging. We change the color for each scent.
  12. We have a possible opportunity to get into a few local boutiques ( a small local chain of 2 very popular fashion shops). The shops have requested a line sheet w/ minimums and wholesale pricing. I have no idea what that is, but I'm guessing it's a catalog of our candles with how many we'd like to buy and at what price. I need some guidance in setting a wholesale price. Our candles are 9 oz, and our cost per candle is $3.20-$3.40 each (biggest cost being shipping--dang it!). Are we undercutting if we charge $7.00 wholesale and give a suggested retail price of $12-$15? We are currently selling at a "booth rent" shop for $12 each or 2/$20. But these shops are much higher end, and this will be wholesale. Just needing some guidance. Hubby thinks we are underpricing. Picture of candle is below, just for reference..
  13. Been looking at Pumpkin Caramel Crunch from CS. I currently have Pumpkin Crunch from WSP (which is nice, doesn't throw quite as strong as I'd like) and it's ridiculously expensive--wondering how similar CS version is? Is it as sweet as Snickerdoodle?
  14. You won't regret White Birch--it's my new favorite. Christmas Hearth smells weird OOB, and I wasn't sure I loved it in wax at first, but it threw beautifully and is a complex fragrance. Wassail is another winner for us. Mistletoe is nice and pine-y, hoping it will sell.
  15. Thanks, TallTayl! I am thinking of adding Maple Glazed Bacon to RE's Sunday Brunch. Have you tried that? What would you compare Red Maple Leaf to?
  16. Putting in a Rustic Escentuals order, and need feedback on these fragrance oils, if you've tried them: Candy Apple Sleigh Ride Rustic Lodge Apple and Pumpkin Strudel Cuban Tobacco Vanilla Oak Maple Glazed Bacon Stainless Steel Falling Leaves Lavender, Apples and Oak Red Maple Leaf Caramel Pretzel Bar Thanks so very much! I'd love your opinions!
  17. Yes, love White Birch in wax even more. Throws like crazy. I think it's a little fresher than Frasier Fir--slightly different notes, but yes, very similar. Wassail is a bit like Cranberry Marmalade, but less sweet with more orange and clove notes. Really nice. I think I like it better than Cranberry Marmalade.
  18. So both my chandler partner and I placed an order from Aztec, and within weeks of each other both of our credit card numbers were hacked. We thought nothing of it of it at the time, but I was reading on a FB group that people placing orders from there were having their credit cards compromised. Starting to think it wasn't a coincidence both of our cards were hacked. Has anyone else had this happen from Aztec? We order our jars from them---would HATE to lose them as a supplier. Hoping it's just a temporary issue, or maybe just a coincidence.
  19. Okay Trappeur, I'm eating my words on Christmas Hearth. Finally getting around to test burning it--HT is fantastic, much better than the CT in the jar even. Really unique Christmas scent!
  20. Just tried Flaming's Campfire--best "campfire" scent I've smelled yet. A new favorite! Also really loving Just Scent's Bonfire--it's got a more complex scent profile.
  21. Ok, so my chandling partner realized that what she thought was Bonfire Bliss was actually Just Scent's Bonfire. MUCH different, and we like it even better! Mystery solved!
  22. My worst was a recent attempt RE's Winter Wishes. It smelled like barf on a tree. No one who smelled it could stomach it. Truly awful.
  23. Excited to hear reviews on this one--someone needs to keep us updated!
