  1. I cant answer that question but you might want to post this in the forum section that is titled business side of things. Thats the best place for this. Good luck
  2. So do you also add vybar to your candles like you suspect YC does? And if so, is it only to give a longer burn time?
  3. You should post some pics of your wonderful jars!
  4. What products were you selling and which did great? DETAILS!!! I NEED DETAILS!!
  5. I actually like the smell of cow poop so ya....theres that lol
  6. Im with Trap on this one. Soy wax needs at least a few weeks before burning them.
  7. This is great info TT. I did a query of my name and luckily turned up zero results. What would be the next step in order to get a TM on my name?
  8. You should make them both at the same time and test burn at the same time. That way you can watch the progress and record notes of 1v2 wicks.
  9. Do you have any links to a few of those vendors specifically? Im really curious to see how they look Thanks
  10. Have you tried making tarts with straight 464? I find they unmold just fine, and I can add a FO load of 10%+ and have good scent throw. Just my 2 cents really.
  11. This. Are they buying your brand or just the FOTM? (Flavor of the month) Do it proper, and they will buy your brand
  12. I like #1 as well, the biggest issue for me right off the bat though is what is the fragrance of the candle? Just by looking at the label it leaves me wondering what smell lurks inside. Is there room to put an actual fragrance name on ot Trap? Other than that I also really like #3. It flows really well and I can immediatly see the fragrance name. Everything is clear as day which I think is my personal taste. But that dang car with the tree on top is super cute too!

No problem! Just get some over sized mason jars and put your salt/fo mixture inside and close. Every time you walk by them over the next few days, shake them all around. Just be aware its rather late in the pool season and they may be hard to find. If they dont have them in store, ask a clerk to see where the nearest store has them, if it isnt within driving distance, request them to arrive on the next truck.

Home Depot sells Morton pool salt for like $5 per 40lb bag. Rediculously cheap. I got a flour strainer and filtered out the very fine particles and salt dust and set aside the larger crystals to tinker with. I think I ended up using 1/2oz FO : 1lb salt and colored with liquid candle dye. Took about 2 full days in a throw away mason jar to fully dry out. They are super fragrant and I ave yet to put heat on them. I have read that you can put them in a regular tart melter and heat them or just put in a bowl and place wherever, but heated will throw better. They were cheap as heck and your kiddo sure could help. Just make sure you handle the dye and FO and he/she can play with the salt! 15. Turns out I got bored yesterday and got my mad scientist vibe going and lab coat on. I ended up making a batch of 2:1 Mineral oil:Soy wax and it actually shocked me how feasable it would be to make "squeezeable" wax. I think I would need to play with the final result more when adding in FO, that would make the mixture a bit more runny...but it was a start. The bigest problem by far would be consumer awareness. Most customers have never heard of it. Wax melts? Tarts? Sure, they know those but squeezeable wax? Dont think many would so is it even worth it in the end? Would it take more effort just to sell it and market it than its worth. Who knows. Maybe a project for 2018, no time left in 2017 for such craziness 😅
  16. TT this is exactly why I asked how companies can use trademarked images on products. I know larger companies pay licensing fees, but I doubt anyone on Etsy is. I hope Lumos can solve his/her problems without too much fuss. Im sure there is a creative way around it Luckily for me I payed graphic artists ahead of time to use their art commercially. The only downside to that route is someone else could potentially use the same image in something else. I dont get any exclusivity, but the odds of someone using the same image is very very low. They are obscure graphics on a paid site that not a lot of people use..they just happen to have the types of graphic that I was looking for
  17. Also, I meant to ask how you did you new photos? They look nice, did you do thrm yourself or bring them to a studio?
  18. Thats exactly why I asked. Because if you do search Etsy..or any other market place there are plenty of people sellung a wide range of products similar to your "theme" I was in no way trying to single you out, quite the opposite. Also, my labels have images in them as well. Its been a constant struggle learning what is ok to use and what isnt. Ive managed to find a bunch with free licenses, but even then you have to read the fine print on what is considered proper usage on each individual image. Others that werent free license, I have to shell out a bunch of money to purchase a commercial license in order to use that image on my products. I think next summer I will pay a graphic art student to create my own images the way I want them or pay my daughter. She is a hell of an artist and fluid with PS and AI. Anyways, I digress. Its definetly a learning curve on what is ok and what isnt. Thats why we have these forums to bounce ideas off other people. Feel free to do so here as well!
  19. This is an honest question so I hope I dont offend in any way, Im more curious than anything really. But how can a business such as your own sell candles, or any product for that matter, that contains Trademarked or Copywritten items? Meaning...how can you make a "House Stark" candle and label with the Stark wolf logo that clearly is trademarked and official to whomever owns those rights to GoT. Presumably GRRM. Or how can you make Harry Potter themed labels with Slitheren and Gryfendor(?) On them. Arent these types products copyright infrigement? Or is there a general rule that you can use them like you have? And like I said..this is based purley off curiosity, nothing else. Cause I might just well buy a few of those GoT candles for myself!
  20. Have you tried Etsy or Shopify to try and get more traffic looking at your products? Do you have festivals or fairs in Australia? Here in the states we call them craft fairs or craft markets depending on area. Thats a good place to start. I dont think just trying to sell on Facebook will get you everything you want, although people do do well on FB.
  21. Ya, thats why I gave up on them too. Kudos to people who can get them to work, but I sure as heck couldnt! Still a beautiful looking jar tho. Maybe make some holiday gifts and hand em out
  22. Maybe someday you can still build that cabin. You never know!
  23. Late response I know, but that article was written by "Flicker" Would that be the same Flicker that is on these forums? If so, id like to know if he/she still makes these. I had a few questions maybe
  24. Nick, when you fire that thing up take some photos and share with us. I would love to see them in action
