  1. Hey everyone, I have cs banana nutbread and have used it before but I was not able to get a strong ht. I am not sure if it's the wax I use or it just doesn’t have a real strong ht. Maybe I will try it in Clarus or 6006 to see. I have used it in 464 and 4627 but was not able to get a strong throw. Any suggestions? Also fillmore is mailing me banana nutbread today.
  2. Yams, I use 4627 religiously! Zinc wicks are my go to for this wax. You will get less soot and a longer burn. Zincs have fantastic scent throw Imo. Some heavier scents can be a pain in certain containers. What kind of jars are you using? I also began candle making using 464 soy. I hated the frosting but it had good scent throw if you let it cure for 2 weeks. I hated the wait also lol!!! I used eco in 464 but it was not my favorite. I tried cd wicks which work well. Premier wicks are also a good wick to try. Premier has many different sizes to choose from to help narrow things down for the best burn. What scents and containers are you using?
  3. Cs is a great supplier! I will agree that their wick selection is lacking and the shipping can get really pricey. Mac apple, grapefruit mangosteen and a bunch of other scents they provide are awesome! They carry a few waxes that I use as well as jars. If they only carried my wicks and a couple other things then I wouldn't have to bounce from supplier to supplier. Aztec is another supplier that carries great scents and wicks. All in all cs is a must for me.
  4. MLG, Yes this definitely helps! I may have to order and try a combo.
  5. Trappeur, Wow that's a lot of searching and testing lol. Why can't some scents just be simple lol? Candle science pumpkin soufflé I like but people complain of a burnt smell. Pumpkin pie from candle science is great but may be a bit too weak. Before I begin my quest of spending lots of money I wanted an idea on who has a good scent for pumpkin. I may have to mix a bunch like you have Trappeur. Thanks for your input. Curious to see what everyone does as well
  6. Hey everyone, I am interested in knowing which pumpkin fragrance everyone likes best. I have used cs pumpkin pie and soufflé. Both of these are great in my Imo but having both mixed together would be perfect. I have tried that mixture before and it kind of works but I am looking for something that has it all. I am really excited to see who uses what. I use 4627, 4630, Clarus 3022 and have 6006 on stand by. I even have some 464 left over but I hate the frosting. Any suggestions?
  7. Chuck, I usually use 7 to 8% fo in this wax. It does have good scent throw it's just a matter of correctly wicking my containers. My 11oz tumblers that are 3 inches in width, I will prob begin with a cdn16 and go from there.
  8. Wthomas, I have a bunch of cdn's I just ordered and should arrive next week. I will be testing a lot and will let you know how it works out with the 3022. I love the wax, especially in my 8oz masons but aiming for larger containers as well. My cd wicks are ok but I have to wick real high to prevent the flame from drowning out. Pretty sure cdn's will do the trick as they are designed for this wax. I'll let you know what I discover.
  9. Wthomas, It's not just the black lids because my 7oz silver lids have that factory smell also
  10. Hahahahaha yes I have gone overboard as well. I also gave up on eco wicks and have plenty left over. The flame is waaaaaayyyy to erratic for me
  11. Awesome thanks for the info. It's always reassuring to know that someone else is on the same path lol. I may have to whip out my cds also and play around.
  12. WThomas, Wow man your site looks awesome! I really like the black background. If you don't mind me asking what wick do you use in your tumblers? I use primarily zinc and roughly a 60 in 6006. The 51 seems to leave too much hangup.
  13. I wish that I was good enough for a shop lol. No I sell to local customers and wholesale currently to a company. I also have some candles and melts in a local shop. I have a Facebook page but it's not exactly the most professional. I have secured domains for my company for when hopefully I ever launch onto the big Web. Just Google Wixxy Waxxy candles and it will show you my Facebook link. I need to update it, don't judge hahaha
  14. I am also very picky lol. My fiancee always reminds me of that lol. Let me know want you think after trying the Clarus 3022. I am interested in knowing your results. ?
  15. What I mean by cold throw is popping off the lid and smelling. Now with 4627 I use a paint scraper and slice out chunks. Yes I agree it is messy lol. I slice the bag open on all corners and pull the sides down. Makes it much easier. At first I had issues with tunneling around the wick but I think it may have had something to do with the cold weather. Jelly jars I usually have to repour no matter what. My mason jars come out perfectly. I just have to be sure not to fill them too high or it will cause issues. Try the zincs in that wax if you get a chance. I spent tons of money and time testing different wicks with that wax but settled happily on zincs. Lx wicks work well also but not as good imho. I will caution you though when using bigger containers with it. I use Clarus on my bigger containers because it burns better. I have a hell of a time getting 4627 to burn well in big containers. I just use it for the smaller ones. Towards discoloration I have never had that issue with it but I use dye in my candles also. You can order Clarus 3022 at Connie's Candles or call Brad and Melanie directly at Clarus. They will send you a free sample of Clarus and it's big! It's worth testing trust me. Also the Clarus has a cure time for best results but doesn't require one.
  16. Wthomas57, These are great questions! I power burn as well with Zincs and yes they do get big mushrooms. My thought process behind this is that a container is going to get hot during a power burn eventually. Most customers I have spoken to say that they only burn for a few hours at the most anyways. It does concern me a little also that it will get hotter with that huge flame after a few hours but that's why we have warning labels. My labels say to not burn more than 4 hours each burn. Now in a perfect world that would solve that dilemma but as you know people will forget all about safety. I always worry when I test about my containers getting too hot when the wick begins to get a big mushroom. Maybe other chandlers may have a better suggestion on that issue. Customers of mine have never once complained over the mushrooms. In fact, they compliment me on the lack of soot. Zincs seem to work well for me towards not sooting on my jars. Now I have had a little bit of soot on one side of my big tumbler jars from the big zinc mushroom. I use igi4627 wax and Clarus 3022 wax. I also have dabbled with 6006. I like 6006 but it does not have a cold throw hardly at all. It burns well and the hot throw is good. It will be hard for me to sell 6006 to customers if they cannot smell the cold throw b4 the burn. I have found that Clarus 3022 has both great cold throw and hot throw. It also looks just as nice if not better than 6006 in a container. I will use zincs and cdn wicks in that wax. It is a parasoy like 6006 except instead of a 30 soy 70 paraffin, it's 70 soy and 30 paraffin roughly. The 4627 I use for my smaller containers and it has a both amazing cold and hot throw. It's number 1 flaw to me is that it looks ugly at times from wetspots and bubbles in a container. I use zincs in that as well. HTH?
  17. I am a big fan of Zinc wicks. They seem to work in most of my combos. There are times when I feel I should wick up or try a hotter wick on stubborn fragrances. I have taught myself that if there is a fragrance that is not working with my zincs, I move on. Everyone has their own method but in my interest of saving on costs I make my combos work around my zincs mostly. I do have certain candles though that I have to use different wicks for but I try to stick with zincs. The mushrooming does not bother me. I will gladly take the mushrooming rather than not having scent throw, improper burn and safety issues from an erratic flame. Just my thoughts
  18. Thanks everyone for the input. Candybee I never thought of it that way hmmm decisions. I know ultimately it's the customers responsibility but....Just knowing that people lick candle wax and does God knows what else with it, kind of leans me to the side of safety hahaha.
  19. OldGlory and TT, Thanks for the information and I will try that for sure. Now if I could only get my customers to stop licking my melts hahaha.
  20. TallTayl, Those are not what I saw but they are a good idea though. Hmmmmm
  21. TallTayl, You read my mind! I never underestimate the stupidity of some people lol. I already had a customer lick my cinnabuns melts just to see if it tasted like them lol. Anyways, I was sitting around watching one of my testers last night, as it was burning closer to the bottom, I remembered seeing this safety bar in a candle. I was walking through a shop a couple months ago and saw the bar. I am not sure if it's just a bigger wick tab or something else. I can't find a photo anywhere. Lemme check out longer neck wick tabs to see if that was it.
