  1. Have had batches of votive and container preblends do the same thing. I asked the same question on the board a long time ago and was told to try a second pour over the initial one and it worked.
  2. Sure that's another way. My wick pin bases don't cover the whole bottom of my molds, so I put them on the outside too. I put the putty around the base of the wick pin and then thread it through the mold hole and push down hard on the pin and putty. I think many people use them like this, but I wouldn't change something that works for you:smiley2: .
  3. Not sure if this is what you mean, but... Use your wick pin to make the candle. When the candle is done, remove the pin. Then you have to prime (or coat) the wick you are using by dipping it in melted wax. I usually use the same wax as I used for the candle and prime before I put in the additives (color, dye). You will notice when you prime your wick in the wax, that bubbles start coming out of the wick. Some candle directions say to wait until all the bubbles come out. I'm not always that careful. When the wick has been coated, remove it from the wax an put it on your counter and straighten it and let it harden. Then wick you insert it through the hole that the wick pin made in your candle. I usually knot the wick and pull it up a little higher than the bottom of the candle. HTH.
  4. You don't need a tabbed wick in pillars. Most people don't use them in pillars. Wick tabs are mainly used in votives and in container candles. However, you can use a tabbed wick with a pillar if you wish.
  5. Like the way they fit perfectly into the basket.
  6. I bought soap coloring by mistake from my local wax and soap place. They were blocks and the fellow who made them said they were not for wax candles because they had a soap base. Maybe that could be it?
  7. Love 'em both too . The pillar is very Christmasy looking:smiley2:
  8. Love how smooth and creamy they look. Interesting browns.
  9. Very pretty work. I particularly like the one on the left. Lucky you, you got a chance to try so many fragrances.
  10. Delicious. Love it. Wish I had your patience.
  11. Beautiful colors. Great rustics. Would be proud to display them.
  12. Hmm interesting. Somebody:undecided ?
  13. Not sure what you mean either. What color is the votive?
  14. Since i use igi 4794, I always get a dip not matter what temp I pour at. Some people don't mind it that way, but i don't like the look, so I do a second pour. Think It just gives a nicer finish. Its not really a pain. I warm the tops up with a heat gun before the second pour, so I don't get a pour line.
  15. Thinking on it for next week sometime. This weekend I have an order from a friend for several pillars for her to give as Chrismas gifts so will have to do that first. Sure thought the ones I saw were pretty. Should have bought one to see how it burned:wink2: .
  16. Guess I'll have to give it a try. Not sure I have the right wicks though. I think wick pins are out lol.
  17. The colors are soo pretty!! Love the shape. Have them in different diameters. Have mad e rustics and they worked fine.
