  1. ^^rereading that it sounds sassiest that I intended. I've just learned a crazy amount about soap/soaping this past year from being friends with her and swapping fragrances. She makes a strawberry CP that's red with green piped on top kind of spikey. It's supey cute and really does smell like strawberry. I'll ask her if they're any "trick" to it.
  2. Yes, I'm sure that she does CP soap. I am well aware of the difference.
  3. I use Strawberry Preserves by NG for my candles but before that I tried Fresh Strawberry (also by NG). I gave the remainder of Fresh Strawberry to my soaper friend and it smells awesome in her products. She does CP soap, bombs, scrubs, salts. It's a really nice, authentic strawberry. Def recommend for bath and body! She also mixes it sometimes half and half with lime for a really amazing "strawberry margarita" scent that sells like crazy.
  4. Sandalwood Vanilla by a landslide. Throws like crazy in parasoy too.
  5. I clean them out and use them again.
  6. I'll be there! It's an 8 hour drive for me too, but we're going to visit some Knoxville family while we're down there, so two birds, one stone.
  7. Ooooo thank you. I'm on the mobile site and I kept searching "orange" and it wasn't showing up. I had that happen on NG's mobile site before with strawberry preserves. Odd.
  8. Because I can't find it and I really liked it! Anyone else have an orange scent they like from either Aztec or NG?? This is for candles using 6006. Thank you.
  9. Aztec's version of the volcano dupe, 6006 wax, CD and LX wicks, 8%. Strong cold and hot throw I'm not familiar with the libbey uni tumbler, but I know it took me forevvveeer to find a good wicking system for the libbey status, which also has a 3" diameter.
  10. @ladybug - same wax, wicks, and jars as you For me, 5 days seems to be the magic number in terms of cure time. I have a few exceptions though: very vanilla, pumpkin soufflé, Caribbean teakwood, etc, very heavy/think/spicy scents I cure a little longer. Maybe 10 days-2 weeks.
  11. Funny, because I heard the opposite! Haha. That they're reliable and always have top quality products. I guess we'll just have to wait and see! I got my first case in January to test it and make sure it worked and was going to be an easy transition. Then I went back in March and got a whole Chevy Blazer full of wax and jars!! So I saved over $100 on shipping plus the wax and jars are cheaper. EA was such a great discovery for me! Let me know how it works for you. If for whatever reason you don't like it, I can take it off your hands. Are you local to Pgh/Mt Pleasant?
  12. I recently switched from Candlescience's IGI6006 to Early American's EAP6006. I was really hesitant at first too because once you find a successful candle system, you don't want to change ANYTHING. But EA is an easy drive for me and I was fed up with CS's split shipping debacle. For me, it's been a seamless transition. I was nervous at first becuase EAP6006 is a little darker and cut a little differently. But I poured testers of all my fragrances starting with my "easiest" oils (the ones that always throw super well), and moving on to my more "finicky" oils. Everything burned wonderfully, and I'm really happy with the switch. Throws the same and burns the same. The differences I have notices are the it does seem to take color a little bit lighter. I use the reddig-glo chips and have found that I need to use a bit more to get the same shades of color I've been used to. This wax seems to be less prone to sinkholes. With IGI6006, I would have to poke relief holes and hit all my tops with a heat gun. I haven't had to do this but a few times with the EAP6006. The only "con" on the list is that after I stir, I have to wait until any of all little bubbles from stirring are gone in the pour pot before pouring the candle or they all stick to the sides of the jars and I have a candle full of little bubbles. I never had that with the IGI. But small concession to make. But yeah, I'm really happy with the switch. I use CD and LX wicks and so far I haven't had to adjunct wick sized or FO loads or anything and it's making identically performing candles for me! I predict you'll be happy with your burn tests. Also, it is cheaper! Woot! And EA's customer service is A++++
  13. OG- yes! It's hard for me to describe but it has a watery/salty smell that's really fresh and smell like ocean air. And I would definitely say it smells upscale.
  14. Sea Minerals by Aztec! My new favorite.
  15. I think the major advantage to a double boiler (as opposed to putting your pot directly over the heat source) isn't solely the safety factor; I've found it beneficial to have even heat all around my wax. With a FULL pouring pitcher (like 35+ oz of wax), heat just on the bottom of the pot took a long time to melt the wax, and the wax at the bottom was a lot hotter than the wax towards the top. I use a presto now though. As far as sprinkles: sprinkles are harmless. I use sprinkles all the time. I mod podge them to the inside of the jars and then pour the candle. I've tried AT LENGTH to *intentionally* ignite sprinkles with no luck. I've also tried to intentionally clog the wick by putting a bunch of sprinkles right around the wick and it always still burned just fine. So a few sprinkles on the sides of a candle or a few on top isn't unsafe.
  16. I use 8% FO in my 6006 jelly jars and don't get any smoke. I don't use eco wicks anymore but when I did I think I used an eco 2. Think your wick might be too big, maybe?
  17. Top for Mint Mojito Fig and Rhubarb and Amber Noir Mint Mojito sounds interesting. Do we really need another fig fragrance though? And I don't dig amber scents, but might be a good fall smell? Thoughts?
  18. If you can't ship an item from the same place, tough. You eat the costs. It's not the customers' fault you don't have it in stock and/or it's being drop shipped from the heavens. You take a little less profit on each item but you have a customer that's happy and will return. DING DING DING! You summed it up much more eloquently than I was able to but that what I've been saying. And the response from CS that "noooo, guys! This is a GOOD thing! Now you have the CHOICE to order it from the other warehouse instead of it being listed as Out Of Stock" is so annoying and condescending. As far as oils, I've been having AWESOME luck with Aztec's oils lately. Just as good as CS's and similar prices. And they'll stuff a couple pounds of oil in a USPS envelope for $6.
  19. Oh man, I didn't think that I would like the red "cheapy" lid when you were describing it. But seeing it, I REALLY like it. It just gives it such a POP. And I don't think it looks cheap at all. The whole candle looks so classy/professional. My humble opinion on the old timey lid sprayed red is that is doesn't "work". An old timey lid wants to look antiquey/old timey, and being bright red kind of contradicts that whole type of aesthetic. Does that make sense? But that's just my opinion! I just really dig the filmore lid I think we are all really emotionally invested in you landing this account!!
  20. I made a $50 order from candlescience over the weekend. First CS order I've made in weeks. I'm phasing them out. I found a 6006 wax through Early American. For jars I've switched over to EA and filmore. Oils I've been switching over to NG and Aztec. But there are a few things that I still can only get from CS and while I was filling up my cart I started to feel bad that I switched all my business because CS was my first supplier and I was feeling nostalgic.... ...until I entered my zip code and saw (SURPRISE!) a split shipping notification. They wanted to charge me an extra $14 to ship some red dye chips from the second warehouse. Lol. Get it together Candlescience.
  21. I haven't tried it myself or smelled it in wax, but my soaper friend uses it and it amazing. Smells so authentic. It's my favorite soap ever and sells well for her. I don't know know how they do it but it actually smells bubbly. Amazing.
  22. I love the pictures. If someone has an issue with it, they can simply not click into the thread. Pictures of other people's candle burns are very helpful. I think it looks great. 1/2" in at the top of my range for a melt pool that I personally am comfortable with, but for a pic being at the end of your 5th burn I think it looks great.
  23. That is such a pretty candle!! I wish you much wicking success!!
