  1. If they soak up within a day or two, I would say they are the good beads. You purchased the "premium" beads, right? I don't think Paul (PasticPellets4Fun) is sending out the problem ones anymore. If you ordered awhile ago, call or email him; he can tell you if you got what I call "bad" ones from your order history. GoldieMN
  2. Can't wait to see the slices! Beautiful! GoldieMN
  3. The new beads I just received (which are the same as my first order) are drying in a day! So it was the problem beads. Now, do I try to sell all the ornies I made if they don't last very long as @Skk5233 stated? I would have to dump quite a few but don't want dissatisfied customers either. GoldieMN
  4. @Skk5233 You mentioned these problem beads' scents don't last as long; but I take it, you packaged and sold them? Would you say they last half as long as the ornaments made with the good beads? I have quite a few made but hope they will last at least a month. GoldieMN
  5. Paul responded to my message and indicated that the beads I'm using, currently, are the ones that others are having problems with. The two boxes I received last week are the same as my first order (original premier) which dried much quicker. NOW my suggestions throughout the forum on baking aroma beads for 15 minutes are for the "problem" beads. I will be testing newer beads with a shorter baking time and let all know how it goes. Thanks all for your help! GoldieMN
  6. One ounce oil to 4 ounces of beads. I use Rustic Escentuals, Candlescience, Crafter's Choice, Fragrance Buddy, and Truscent from Fillmore. GoldieMN
  7. UGH! Yes, getting them from Plasticpellets4fun. All of my fragrances are taking over a week, with cinnamon taking longer. I don't use leather fragrance oils yet. If I am able to get these ornies to complete cooking at 350 for 14 minutes, would that indicate I have the old beads? Again, would like your input but will also contact owner of the pellet company. GoldieMN
  8. How long does it take you to dry, say, a 2-cup batch of beads? I'm using quart canning jars, shaking them often throughout the day. It is taking me at least two weeks to get them completely dry. Is this your experience? GoldieMN
  9. So are we all getting the old version now? If so, no one should be having problems with them. But, according to your post today, you still are having problems? GoldieMN
  10. I have been a big fan of Rustic Escentuals' Spiced Pumpkin Latte as have my customers. The bottles I purchased last year have more of a chocolate or fudge tone to them. Has anyone else noticed this? These bottles were purchased last year. RE says none of their oils have changed. GoldieMN
  11. I would be willing to try tins but have always thought they get pretty hot in the last fourth of the tin. Also, in a small tin, isn't there a good percentage of wax left in the bottom when done burning the entire tin? GoldieMN
  12. @TallTayl Yeah, I was thinking it might not get incorporated completely. Thanks. GoldieMN
  13. Yes, I've been doing the pour-without-a-wick as a result of it being suggested here. I did forget to mention, absolutely no soot! Mushrooms weren't bad either. I may have asked this before, but is there any reason I shouldn't pour the 185 degree wax directly in my pint jars, add the fragrance oil, and stir as opposed to using another container to mix in before pouring into the test jars? GoldieMN
  14. Just checking in with my testing results using 464 with no fragrance, in a pint canning jar, Premier 770 wick, CD 10 wick, and Eco 8 wick. The CD 10 had a bigger flame with a hotter jar than the other two. The Premier and Eco performed close to the same as far as being able to handle the jar easily even after a 10-hour burn. The Eco melt pool consistently stayed a little smaller than the Premier; the CD was about 1/2". I am going to test with fragrance and the Ecos next since Premiers with this current wax have not been giving me the hot throw I want. From what you said, @TallTayl, I will test with the Eco 6. GoldieMN
  15. Just hang on, those might work better than 464! GoldieMN
  16. HAHAHA, yes a blessing or a curse. . . You are funny! GoldieMN
  17. I had a young relative die a month ago; and today, my SILs youngest sister is hours away from dying. She was my flowergirl years ago. Maybe all of that has affected my desire to pour. However, I WILL try again with the ECOs I ordered which are already in the mail! That may be all I need--good throwing candles--to get my interest going again. On a positive note, the aroma bead ornaments sold really well at my occasional sale. No wick needed! hahahaha Thanks for your sharing thoughts. GoldieMN
  18. @moonshine Sounds good. Ordering the Ecos and will test with Premiers and CDs. Thanks! @birdcharm No they are regular mouth. I can't find much in wide-mouth lids, or I would definitely try the wide-mouth jars. Prefer to use something other than the rings and lids. GoldieMN
  19. Thanks. I can get free shipping from Northstar on wicks so will order a few sizes. GoldieMN
  20. No, could this be the answer to my prayers???? GoldieMN
  21. I am testing with CDs and Premiers. GoldieMN
  22. @moonshine I'm using 464 in pint jars. I've never been able to get the hot throw I use to get before 2017 with most of my oils. As a matter of fact, I haven't even been able to get much of any throw with my two Rustic Escentuals apple fragrances that use to throw super strong. Also tried a few other apple oils suggested on here but getting little throw. I don't think it is candle nose unless my husband has it too. There are other fragrances I get an ok throw from just not the apple. I guess I will start retesting as soon as I get a nothing-added jar tested. I figure it is the wick as I can get a throw from aroma bead ornaments using the oils. Or am I thinking wrong? The only other thing I can go back to is the weather/air conditioning/humidity which I never worried about. GoldieMN
