  1. One big loaf! It weighed in at 32 ounces, lol, so I have since purchased tiny foil pans I may try and cut this thing, I haven't decided yet, it looks too pretty! But my goal is a chunky loaf, just need to go much much smaller in size to make it reasonable. Oooooo...that big ones a beauty Nikki and the scent combo sounds delish!
  2. Thank you MLG! And good luck this weekend.... you can do it!!
  3. PHOTOS BACKWARDS! I took the plunge and joined the party, thanks Puma!! I already had some chunks made in Beach Daisy fragrance (light blue-green chunks) and I was trying to get something summery/beachy with the oils I have on hand and without being too fruity so I came up with a combo that, let's say, I don't love! But I wanted to focus on the procedure not so much the scents. To the Beach Daisy I added Coconut Lime Verbana chunks (orange chunks, yes I know the color is wrong, lol) along with Ocean (navy chunks). The overpour was Coconut Milk. Knowing that the CLV is really overpowering I cut back on the f.o. and added more Coconut milk f.o. which is not that strong and then the Ocean. Here are the pictures...I definitely love the look of the chunk melt itself so I will be thinking hard about the f.o. combos I want to use and try them again.... By the way mine are about 1" x 1" and approx. 1-3/4" deep when cut. I used foil loaf pans as this was a test and didn't want to make too many... The chunks were put into three 6 x 3-1/2 x 2" deep rectangle tins-- I used about 5 oz wax plus f.o. for each chunk type. The larger tin to which I added the chunks and the overpour to was an 8 x 4-1/4 x 2-1/2" deep. Melted about 12 oz. wax for the overpour. I think I waited a bit too long to cut the loaf--It was still warm at about 55 minutes but I think it should have been a bit warmer for a cleaner slice, maybe around 45 minutes.

  6. I came across the link below on facebook, saw the black dots in the baby's nose and it caught my immediate attention -- my first thought was (not to be disgusting but bug larve, eww, can't even write it--eww....) The caption started with: "Scented candles serve many purposes" and goes on from there and I began to think how could this have happened? Was the mother negligent? Too many candles burning and the baby too close for too long? And of course, not another candle bashing story! So I watched the video and both the mother and the baby had black up their noses. They went to the dr. and both were ok but discovered the black was soot up their noses was produced by candles. The story goes on to emphasize the importance of reading candle labels and trimming the wicks and basically burning the candle for shorter periods of time than this woman did again according to the label. They even show a clip from the NCA website regarding how the usage of too much fragrance can make a candle burn unsafely and how you should buy your candles from reputable candle makers! Loved that part! I thought it was a very educating news piece for the public and did not turn out as I originally thought, lol. Keep scrolling down til you get to the video... http://loveinspireamaze.com/mom-went-to-feed-her-baby-and-she-noticed-tiny-black-dots-in-her-nose-now-hear-her-shocking-warning/
