  1. Has anyone ever packaged tarts of different scents together? Would the tarts absorb the scents from each other over a long period of time? For example, I am thinking about putting 2-3 holiday scents into a jar and then decorating the jar for Christmas time. Would this be a good idea or am I thinking crazy, LOL? Thanks!
  2. Hi Daisymay, Take a look at this thread for some ideas...hth http://www.craftserver.com/topic/102448-lets-have-some-fun-with-leather/?hl=leather
  3. I was doing a search on this topic several weeks ago since I am new to pillars as well and wanted to know if pillar candles could be made using wicks with tabs or not. This is one of the threads I found, as Georgia said it is a heated debate on whether to use wick tabs or not. I learned a lot from from reading this thread: Pillar makers - wick your mold or use wickpins? Started by Jeana, Nov 04 2008 07:43 PM HTH!
  4. Cracker, sorry I am not meaning to take over your thread -- I mentioned I would post a picture in the hopes that this would help us both out while we are on this topic. :smiley2:
  5. Cracker--I am interested to see responses on this because the same exact thing is happening to me! There are so many bubbles/wet spots in some of my candles the almost look “diseased” LOL. I also wipe out the container and heat them before pouring. Using the heat gun to release the bubbles is taking up way too much time!! I am using 8 oz square mason jars and thinking the debossing (I think I am using the right word) on all four sides that may have something to do with it. I will be making more today and if this happens again I will post a picture. These jars are cute but after this Christmas is over I am moving on….
  6. I called my nephew tonight to see how my candle burned today. He said he burned it for an even shorter period of time and the scent came back. Even his 5 year old son commented how good it smelled when he came home from school! I simply asked him to be more aware of where he places the candle from now on taking into consideration of all of the above conditions. I know from personal experience if I am burning a candle in the kitchen and start cooking something strong like garlic/oil the candle scent just drowns out, also cologne/perfume seems to trump candle scent as well, at least temporarily, something else to think of! He asked if it could be a defective candle, I just laughed to myself, IMAGINE, trying to blame the candle maker, LOL!!....
  7. Hi, Candle made 4627 in 8 oz mason jar, HTP-73, CS apple harvest, yellow liquid dye, cured 1 week. My nephew is burning in his apartment, yesterday burned for 5 hours, good throw, today nothing in same time frame. I wanted to know if anyone knows why this would happen? I have burned this in my home in a larger space and scent is very good. I have experienced this with soy wax in the past but did not think it could happen with paraffin. Any ideas why first burn would be good and second not so much? Thanks!
  8. I haven't found anything that will keep my wicks straight unless I manually adjust and maneuver the wick somewhat after pouring. I have found that no matter how centered my wick is and regardless of what device I use, I have to inspect my wick and adjust as necessary to ensure a perfectly centered wick
  9. Sorry, don't know what the Yank** Spiced Pumpkin smells like.... But the AH/RE pumpkin pie spice oob it smelled kind of bland like I needed to add more spice, kind of crusty. Put it straight in 4627 in sq mason jar with HTP-73. Cured it for a week and then lit in my bathroom (smallest room in the house). My overall opinion was that the scent was not strong enough for ME! (gave it a # 1 my own personal rating scale for scents) which is equal to not much scent. Did not mix with any other spices yet but intend to, not right now though. Maybe it’s me but I have had absolutely no luck with any pumpkin scents. OOB I loved sweet pumpkin spice (Peaks) and also CS pumpkin spice—I’m on a pumpkin mission, LOL! Poured both the same way as above--unable to wick the sweet pumpkin spice because of jar overheating and soot (HTP-73 and 83 in sq mason) and the pumpkin pie from CS did not give off a strong enough scent either IMHO, all very disappointing. I almost gave up on Pumpkin scents when I decided to try one last one: Pumpkin Honey Chai (Peaks). It is awesome! It is so different and will fill a very large room and more in 4627. Love it!
  10. Yes, safety first! sticking with the 6mm's...
  11. Silly question ahead, LOL: What is the difference between bubble bars and soap?
  12. Hi, I am testing 4627 wax, 8 oz square mason with HTP-73/83 wicks and am finding that when the candle burns to the end of the end of the jar I have about 1 oz of wax left when weighed. This seems like an awful lot of wax for a small jar. I currently use the 6mm wick tab and feel that if I used anything less like the 3mm the jar would be way too hot. I also use glue dots to keep the wick in place which may raise the tab up even a slight bit higher. Any ideas?
  13. Nice! Love all the space you have and esp. the desk/computer right next to your work area! Enjoy your new space and your new home!
  14. Hi All, I just received my order of Pumpkin Pie Spice from AH/RE. It seems most people are looking for a more "pumpkin" scent and I am looking for some spice in the scent. OOB I am not smelling too many spices. Does anyone know if you can smell the spices once you pour and candle cures? If I wanted to add spices to the PPS FO like cinnamon and clove how many grams would I deduct to add in the clove and the cinnamon? (will be using 1 oz of oil and 1 lb. 4627). Thanks for the help... -Terry
  15. Very pretty, very colorful, very eyecatching!! Good Luck!!
  16. Thanks Eric, didn't think I was going to get any more responses on this thread, LOL...
  17. These are some great tips ladies, many thanks for responding!
  18. Candybee, Thank you for your tips and in-depth response. I agree that palm wax makes a beautiful candle so I will continue to work on perfecting...just need to get some different sizes of CSN wicks for testing! -Terry :smiley2:
  19. Hi, Poured crystalizing palm container wax in 12 oz status jars as follows: Peak Juicy Pineapple thin layer on top, Peak Georgia Peach on bottom CSN 11 R/E Toasted MM on top Peak Gingerbread Cookies on bottom CD 10 wick Same as above only with a CD 12 wick If you will bear with me, I always seem to have issues getting the pictures in the order I want them, LOL... Pix #1 top of the CD 12 Pix #3 top of the CD 10 Pix #2 top of the CSN 11 (unprimed wick, this is what I had on hand at this time) Pix #4 CD 10, CSN 11, CD 12 Pix #5 CSN 11, CD 10, CD 12 Burning now for about 2-1/4 hours first time. Poured in layers as I read this will reduce/eliminate air pockets along with wrecking the tops on the bottom and middle layers. You can see if you look closely that I have a dividing line between the middle and top layer on all three but it is noticable even when using the same color. Right after I poured the top layer I hit the jar (only where pouring) with the heat gun and covered with a cardboard square. Is there anything I can do so the middle and top layers blend better when using the same color? Also what about using unprimed wick in container candles? Any pros or cons? Would also welcome any other opinions..tia
  20. You can try sprinkling with baking soda which will absorb the oil, let it for a while, then vacuum it up. Good Luck Shar..
