  1. You guys are so right.....I noticed the melts that Walmart is selling has bubbles galore and they smell ok. I think they are made in Salt Lake City, UT which was surprising. I am sure I will get alot of people asking why my prices are higher. I just have to convince people to try and compare mine to theirs....Thanks, Kathy
  2. I am thinking she does mean liability insurance. I wouldn't sell anything that someone is going to use especially on their lips and digest without it.
  3. With Walmart. They are now selling paraffin melts. They are $2.44 ea. I don't know if the shelf was fully stocked but there are alot of gaps. I just noticed them today. I am not sure how long they had been there but while I was standing there sniffing. Everyone that walked by stopped and looked and started grabbing them... Huh......I don't use paraffin for the clamshells but now everyone that sees them is going to compare my soy to them....Not sure what to do other than not raise my prices this year.....
  4. I doubt those oils are pure. I think they may have DPG in them, but I am not sure I wouldn't use them in candlemaking plus they would cost way too much.
  5. Those look awesome! I love oatmeal cookies.
  6. Those are nice! What size of jar are they?
  7. Wow, Thanks for all the great input. I have alot of the fragrances mentioned, so it is going to be tough to find out which one I like best that mixes with the rose scent. I will post which one I picked.....Thanks a ton!
  8. Is there anything I can mix with Rose fragrance to make it smell a little sweet? I like the smell of rose, but it smells a little old fashioned. I want to add it to my potpourri that I mixed with all the flowers in my garden but I don't like the heaviness of the scent and want to lighten it up. Any suggestions would be appreciated. TIA
  9. I display mine in baskets. I tried lining them up but everytime someone would grab one or if the table moved they would all fall over. It was such a pain that I just started putting them in containers or baskets. It was so much easier.
  10. I know if you stir too fast that can create too much air in the soy and will cause tiny air bubbles as it sets up. But it is hard to determine the problem.
  11. Thank you both. I will check them out. I have been searching and didn't see them.
  12. I need to find someone that sells Organic Lavender essential oil. I can't find anyone that sells it in large quantities. I need to make 4000 candles to start for a customer. Yes I know that is outrageous, but true. Please help. =]
  13. I have a customer that purchased Soi candles and wants to know if I can make soy oil candles for him, but the catch is he wants it to be organic. I am so confused about what soy oil is. I am thinking it is just a ploy to market soy candles. I am going to meet with this guy that bought a few of this companies candles. I told him I would try to research the product. The website he gave me still leaves me confused...SOY OIL??? What is that? It leads me to believe it is in liquid form...NO WAY! Here is a little of what they have to say about their product. Any help would be appreciated. SOI Candles are hand-poured using 100%, FDA approved, kosher soy oil and burn cleaner than paraffin-based candles. Available in a variety of sizes, our candles burn about 140 hours (about 40% longer than wax candles), are soot-free and do not emit any harmful toxins (like Benzene) into your home. Unlike wax, soy oil burns coolly at 106º into a reflective pool of soy that always remains warm to the touch and will not burn little hands. Because SOI Candles are created from natural soy, the melt pool can also be used as a skin moisturizer that can be massaged into any dry or irritated areas. It can also be applied as a soothing remedy to sunburned skin, eczema, psoriasis, and poison oak!
  14. I get asked all the time from customers if my melts are able to be melted on the scentsy warmers. I let them know they can. Scentsy only wants their customers to buy from them. They don't want the competition. The warmers are not made by scentsy... If scentsy buys defective warmers from a company that is hazardous I wouldn't buy from them. How can they say that....I have a catalog that sells the exact or close to the electric warmers, but I would have to go digging through my storage room to get the warmers co. name.... I will check tomorrow. I was thinking of doing a co-op, because the minimum is a little high. I think $250.00, but I can't remember....
  15. That would wipe out our industry... Having insurance is expensive enough....I say NO! We do have the National Candle Association and IGCA if you want to belong to a candle association. They are both great.
  16. I looked at Yankme candles too, but don't see much of an attraction. I love your candles as well. They look awesome....Great job.
  17. Those look awesome. I love the colors.
  18. I haven't seen muffs forever... That is cute....
  19. Good for you. If someone operates a business like that I would never do business with them again. If I ever had any issues with any companies (rarely) I would expect some kind of compensation. I have had two instances with customers and fixed the situation right away. If I ever had an issue with UPS they made it right. That sucks I hope she read this and does right by you. If not oh well...
  20. That is too bad for them...The price of wax went up with the gas prices now it should go down.. No excuse, except for greed.
  21. I have always sold well with both.. This year I am going to sell both to see which sells better. If I can eliminate the plastic the better. We'll see.
  22. That is odd. I use pyrex all the time to make my lotions and have never had a problem. I will have to be careful..
  23. I know it's a hard decision to make...I am cutting down my stock too. Good luck!!!
