Those look very nice. I am waiting for my insurance to add bath & body besides my candles before I start selling soaps. I used to make soaps a couple of years ago and want to try them again. I want to try making swirls. My soaps were very simple. I am making my first batch Thursday...

I can't wait for the wax to drop.....I don't need any wax until spring.. We'll see if they drop back down where they need to be. It is crazy....

Those are cute. I used to make them, but they weren't big sellers in my area. I had to discount them to $5.00 just to get rid of them.

Melts are mostly all I sold all year. My last show I sold almost 300. I took 6 home. It was unbelieveable. People buy 4 of them at a time. I also sell warmers and that makes it easier for my customers. Some people thought the melts were candy. Not sure why they thought that.....

My shows have been amazing. My stores have picked up and my items are selling very well. I have my last show next week hopefully I will sell out of all my stuff.

The only clove that I have found that smells just like it is clove essential oil. You can buy it at any health food store.

In my area melts are so popular that one store wants to sell my melts exclusively and eliminate candles all together. I guess I am just going to have to dive into a whole box. I just wasn't sure how many clamshells to order. I have one more craftshow to do in two weeks and then I am going to start on my spring scents, so I will post if anyone is interested.

Get out of a 50 lb.box of soy flakes? I am wondering if anyone has ever used a whole box just for the 6 cube plastic containers. I hope this makes sense I have a cold and can't think clearly....Thanks!

If you are going to do anything like this you better have a good plan. I wouldn't accept anything other than payment upfront.

I don't think it really matters as long as you can sell it for that price. I sell my 8 oz mason jar candles for $10.50 and they sell. It really depends on your customers what they are willing to pay and that you can still make a profit.

I am into my second day of our Holiday craft show. Saturday was so slow. People were mostly buying food type stuff. As for craft stuff, not much. People brought their own bags to fill but I didn't see that the bags were even half full. I hope today goes alot better. I sold mostly melts/tarts and a few candles. I have the candles discounted so much that I am only making $2-3 per candle profit. I am quite disappointed, but I wasn't expecting people to buy like they have been in the passed few years. At least I got two large orders from stores and one new store that wants my Christmas scents that my competition doesn't sell. Yupee...... I was so suprised, because the stores are ordering a little late. We'll see how I do today....

I am doing my first largest show of the year and we'll see. This show brings in good money and has been going on for 37 years which everyone stands at the door waiting. I am hoping it will be good, but this area has people with money. Very well supported and talk of the town. If I don't do well there I probably won't do well at the other two shows. My 45 stores haven't ordered at all for the Christmas season. So I am not sure what people are doing. I guess I am going to sell cheap this weekend. I don't think people will be willing to pay very much for anything. So If I can keep my prices low I think I will do ok.

I am not sure what advice you are asking for. It seems you did very well on your own. I would keep buying the wax from the store you bought your wax since it seemed to work for you. It is odd the store doesn't know where the wax came from. Most stores know who their suppliers are. As for using body oils to make candles is another red flag. Hopefully it said it was safe for candles. Your insurance agent would be able to help you with that. I just hope you do have insurance. It would be horrible if you burned down someone's home and it cost you thousands of dollars for negligence just to make $300.00. Doesn't make sense.

Prices will stay high until we protest by not buying. Gas prices have came down why hasn't wax?????

Rosemary essential oil is best. I love it. Very relaxing. It almost smells like lavender to me.

You have to follow the damage instructions with UPS. You can view it online or call them. I have had two damages in the past 15 years and always have had a refund with UPS within a week or two. They always send me the insurance amount and the two had up to $100.00 insurance and that is what I got $100.00 even though the items were like $75.00 but they include the shipping. I have always been pleased with them. I am not a fan of fedex. I won't do business with them at all. That is all I am saying about them. Alot of hard feelings about them....

I used to have a catalog of tart warmers that were dead on, but I can't find it. I will keep looking, because I want to buy some. I think they had a minimum order of $500.00 or something.
