  1. that is a ton of dye, I use about 8 drops per pound, lonestar or RE dyes. You're not going to get as bright of colors with C3 as paraffin candles
  2. I use JBNs too. It is less floral than some but it is floral. Most Rain FOs are floral to some degree. Maybe you're looking more for an ocean type scent. blue lagoon from RE is good, so is ASS Salty Sea Air and TCS Ocean Rock
  3. JBN tests their fragrances in C3 so its hard to go wrong with that wax and buying FOs from them.
  4. No I don't sell oils, and are you suggesting she is somehow going to buy from the manufacturers and not the companies (middlemen) most of us refer to on this board? They have huge ordering minimums. Sure they're less $ and good oils, but a lot of them require 25 lb minimums or huge minimum $$ purchases. Maybe you can share where you get these cheap but fantastic oils that the rest of us don't know about that a newbie could actually afford
  5. black in 100% soy can be tricky, you're trying to counteract a lot of white to get black. So yeah, use more and if you're black tends to get a bit purplish (happens to me) try adding a drop or two of yellow to counteract that. I don't know if you know this already but you can add color to your wax, put a small amount of your colored wax in a little dixie cup and let it solidify to get an idea of what your color will be, easier than pouring a whole candle and then remelting to add more.
  6. She didn't say this was always the case, but for the most part you do get what you pay for with FOs. Sure there is the occasional exception, but frankly, I haven't even seen a 6 dollar FO except maybe the Scent Event. She doesn't *know* what is good or she wouldn't be posting, so not sure what you meant by that. Anyway, read the posts already here, there are many people asking for help on paraffin and soy and you will learn a lot from what is here and the common pitfalls. If you go with soy, I recommend buying from a company that specializes in soy compatible FOs (JBN, FOH, Millcreek, Scented Bean, Snowtop, etc) or have already tested them in soy, you'll have much better luck and save some money. good luck
  7. I got a sample of the jar and it is just as good as Libby's and priced much better than what I was paying elsewhere
  8. What about angelfood cake? Might do better than the cookie did. RE (chermark) has a great one
  9. I actually like the colors a lot
  10. I personally love peppermint or coffee scented soaps. When looking at soap booths I see a lot of sandalwood, lavender, OM&H too.
  11. Penn wheeling sent me several lids and they didn't fit any of the tumblers I had:undecided
  12. fragrance oil heaven has some great chocolate scents
  13. not sure on that, personally I would use bags, maybe gallon size if you're making big batches.
  14. there's a sticky here with tips for craft shows. I also found this http://www.craftsreport.com/august99/businesswise.html
  15. I love those colors too! very nice
  16. I use a blend about that ratio though not with 444, and pour hot. Basically add fo at 180 stir and pour. Then have to poke out the air pockets and heat gun to fill them in. I get like one big wet spot which doesn't bother me at all.
  17. I thought borax was actually unhealthy for use on skin? I swear I heard that somewhere. Wondering if you can sub something else or leave it out?
  18. damn those are so great, I think you've found your niche! Love them.
  19. LOL ME WUV EM TOOOOO! VERY KEWT.
  20. try the CD14, looks like you skipped that one. Also, make sure you level the top back out after stick a new wick in there.
  21. She was a friend? If so, I think you handled this very poorly and kind of mean. I take it you don't want to be friends with her anymore from your "she'll leave me alone" comment and a nasty/nice (what the heck is nasty nice?) email is tacky.
