Cranberry Color

Some of you know I'm not a big fan of color mixing, but if in a pinch, what would mix to get a deep cranberry color? I was thinking red with just a bit of blue - would that be right? I know I can just try it but figured maybe someone has a formula hashed out.

I can tell you from experience that red with a little bit of blue will turn into purple, but not a deep cranberry like this. I was trying to get this color too. Haven't been able to get it but I'm hoping someone will have an idea.

For that cranberry color, you would need red, and a hint of brown.

I don't have any "formula" but if all I have is red, I dirty it up with a little brown. Just enough to take out the brilliance of the red. HTH:)

Is it liquid or chips?

They have cranberry chip color. Mix that with brown?

Well I'm curious what red with a little bit of purple would give you. Now I get a rich red using one drop of coffee (liquid) to six or seven drops of red.

I think my dark cranberry I used 3 drops of black to 2 drops of red. That's in 1343.

I make my cranberry with about 8 drops of red and 1 drop of brown (give or take, I'm at school and don't have my notes with me). I do get a perfect deep cranberry color with these two liquid dyes.

I make mine with a mixture of red and black also.

I use red and black also. Can't remember the ratio, too lazy to go look.

I think red and black is actually "Ruby Red" but actually that's what the photo looks like.

true Burgundy = Red + Black. Try 7 parts red to 3 parts black

Red + Brown is more of a cinnamon or brick red-brown. I think most call this color Maroon.

I mix red, blue & black

If you are using liquid color use mostley red with a little blue = Burgundy. Mix in some black to darken the Burgundy to the shade you like.

Now with the color chips the Black seems to be more on the dark purple side so just red and black.

I use 8 drops of red, 2 purple and 1 black. everyone seems to love the color it gives. HTH Amy

I was hoping for 1 formula too Henry. At least you know you need red for the base. I have blue, black, and brown but no purple so I sure hope 1 of the 1st 3 work.
