  1. Depending on how large the show is & the popularity of it - I just moved, but in CA, there were very large shows that had a high attendance rate. They would sell out of vendor slots about 8 months in advance. If it was a show like that, I'd sign up for it as soon as they would allow.
  2. It lists on their website what cannot be shipped on the trailer, and fuels/oils and candles is included. I'm shipping my belongings through ABF U-pack & shipping my car through another carrier. Once an account is opened, I wouldn't think they'd be asking what you're shipping, but since I don't have an account with either of those companies, I will have to list the contents of the package when I go to ship it. Just wondering if anybody had run into problems doing that. If I had to ship candles to a customer, I'd probably use USPS, unless it was a wholesale account and would have to think of who to use when that time came. I know I can easily just load the boxes onto the truck and look the other way, but I'm one of those people that freak out about these kinds of things & wonder "what if." If it stated that I'm not supposed to ship it, I'm assuming it's for a reason, and I don't like to ignore their rules. I'm sure I'd have to sign something before they take my things that I have read and understood their rules.
  3. I am getting ready to move across country, and trying to figure out how to get my FO's & candles there since the moving truck will not allow it. From USPS, Fed-Ex and UPS, this is the information I found: FO's USPS will ship, the FP had to be, I believe, above 140, but after talking to them, the correct way to send it is it should be packaged separately. Meaning, 1 FO bottle per package. I know many of you ship through them, with several FO's in a package, I just don't like to knowingly to things the wrong way.... Fed-Ex ships them, but you have to call their customer service number and get certified to ship items. UPS will ship, and it doesn't seem like they have a minimum FP requirement. I called them and they are not aware that it has to be a minimum flashpoint in order to ship Ground. Because of the information I have received, I would feel better shipping through UPS. I know suppliers use UPS all the time. Does anybody have any information regarding shipping through them? Candles I wanted to ship through Fed-Ex because they are cheaper than the other 2. I do not have an account with them, so I would need to fill out an airbill where I have to fill out the description of items. Has anybody had any problems when they put "candles?" Thanks for any help you can give.
  4. I haven't tried them from either of those 2 places, but I like the Pumpkin Bread & Pumpkin Pie from Candlescience.
  5. Do you carry a lot of scents? I can definitely smell the difference between the two, but IMO, they are too alike to carry both. But if you have a lot of scents, I'd do both.
  6. I measure 0.5 oz. for each tealight also. So if you're going by that, my guess is that you'd get approximately 32 tealights per lb.
  7. If you're gonna do a repour, you should pour like you do votives (if you do them). So when you repour, it should be just a tad bit above your original pour. You might also try adding a one-pour container wax to the Genwax you're using....might help with the need for a repour.
  8. I'm trying to lower my costs whichever way I can, because I don't think my prices would fly in the new area. I am trying to change both my wax & jar so I could significantly lower my prices if possible. Candlescience would be about a 2 hour drive from where I would be living, so I'm trying to use them as my supplier for wax & jars since I would be driving there & picking them up. I LOVE the wax I use, but they are only on the west coast & it would cost me about $100/case to continue using that wax.
  9. I do agree with you guys and your responses. I thought that maybe with the right labeling/packaging it could "possibly" be seen as that. Mount Olive, NC
  10. I'll be moving to a much lower income state, and am gonna have to change my wax, jars or both. I want my products to be somewhat elegant, not too classy, but not prim either. I was using the elevation jars and am now considering the Victorian jars. Do you feel these jars are or could be fairly elegant? Thanks!
  11. I love Pumpkin Bread from Candlescience. They say it's less spicey than their Pumpkin Pie, but I thought the opposite.
  12. I agree that most people go to garage sales to look for a deal, but it couldn't hurt anything just by setting it out there, right? Maybe people might at least grab a business card to place an order later....
  13. I already calculated the shipping from Swan's - it would go up about $15. That means I'd be paying about $100 for a case shipped to me. I pay a lot as it is, and did not want to go up in price - if anything, I need to try to lower it. I thought about trying Greenleaf. I wanted to wait a little bit to see if she's able to set up a shipping point for this wax out of NJ. I think that would help on the shipping. Ugh, if only Candlescience carried a great blend then everything would work out great. Peppermint, I RRD's work the best for me in this wax.
  14. Anybody have suggestions? Candlescience suggested 6006 - I've tried that before and didn't like it.
  15. How about little round pieces in colors like brown, yellow, red which would look like dog food?
  16. I would call them. You might actually get an answer when you're able to speak with them, where as they can just continue to ignore your e-mail.
  17. I would say the candle making machine from Walmart would be a waste of money. I would suggest to purchase a starter kit from a candle supplier to begin with. I didn't do that while starting out, but I think it would've helped out a lot more and cost less money.
  18. I began using hex jars because of the price. I then switched because I wanted a different look, but still wanted it to be fairly easy to wick.
  19. I currently use Calwax CB-30 & am extremely pleased with it. However, since I will be moving to NC, shipping would be outrageous. I called Calwax and there are no distributors on the east coast, only in WA. So I'm stuck with deciding on paying the shipping for this wax or choosing another wax (I've already switched once before & it sucks!). I did not want to have to pay shipping because it will drive my prices up more, and I'll be moving to a lower-income state. I was hoping Candlescience carried a blend since I would be able to pick it up, but I wanted to stick with a paraffin/soy blend, which I don't see that they have. Does anybody know of a wax comparable to the CB-30, with a supplier on the east coast? Ugh, I'm really not looking forward to this . Thanks for your help!

  21. I agree with Angela, it might not have set up yet. Another possibility might be that the other bears you bought might have had more wax, and you are squeezing out a lot of it? Not that either way is right or wrong...
  22. I actually don't color that scent and leave it white.
