This particular one is for my lotion - which I'm not quite ready to sell, I have about 5 people testing for me right now. I just can't stand having the labeling issue hanging over my head. I know I'm throwing a lot of images up here - I think I'm at the point where my brain is so fried, I just don't have a clue what is good and what isn't. So what do y'all think - do you like any of these? Should I go back to square 1? I have SUCH a hard time with this. I see labels that look so awesome, but when it comes time to create my own I just can't seem to get them right. I remember the Orange Door and the story about how it came about.Out of the choices, I like the "door part" of #3 the best, but am not that fond of the SIZE of the keyhole. I would make it smaller, and black, utilizing Orange lettering ( getting it light enough that it stands out.)If the milk comes from more than one goat, I think it would be goats. If I had to choose one, it would be #4, though, since I think it's good to have your company name at the top, and the white brings more attention to the product and scent names. Maybe just keep it simple...just have the door as the background and then white or black lettering (depending on the shade of the door behind it.) Usually, I like the busy looking labels, but this one just doesn't appeal to me. I'm not trying to be mean in the least, I'm just racking my brain as to WHY. Something about the keyhole being much LARGER than the door, lol, just kinda bothers me, I guess. Although I do like the idea of a keyhole since it is "the orange door candle company." But I think it should be one or the other- either the orange door....or the keyhole with your company name on it somewhere. Also, I've heard it both ways: goat milk AND goat's milk. I like the ring of Goat's Milk, though. Doesn't make it seem as though one goat did all the work! Maybe someone else will have some better advice for ya!!! I thought if I put all of them, maybe someone else would be struck with inspiration and tell me what the heck I was doing wrong!I did have a thread before - that was for my candle labels and they are hangtags. Since these are going on bottles, I was trying to utilize the length of the door. When I get home tonight maybe I'll try without the keyhole. It is a little bitty bar, the counter tops have keys on them and then a heavy coating over them. There are keys and keyholes everyewhere. I think I would maybe have the door in the background...try a fadeout from right to left and then add the text on top. I love playing with labels, changing them in and out is the fun part! Leave Vanilla Buttercream as it is.4. Print goat's milk & honey lotion across the bottom panel of the door in white or black ink, and maybe bold it.Now a question: Where are you listing your ingredients? The best idea is the one that grabs you, becuase if you like it , youll always be happy with it ./ (meaning if you like the key hole) and your customers will get to looking for it to find your products! But the keyhole is overpowering. If you make it transparent then the door will come through - kinda like a looking glass effect. First, a HUGE thank you to everyone who has commented. Sockmonkey, I like your suggestions, I'm going to give that a try and see how it looks. I'm going to have a label on the back with ingredients and company info. I thought if the front label was unique enough, I wouldn't need the company name on the front, just the back. That's why some of the labels don't have the name. BizzyBs, I like what you said about the unique name, I want to do something really cool with the labels, I just don't know how! sockmonkey Posted February 17, 2006 Share Posted February 17, 2006 You might be able to list ingredients in the bottom part of the keyhole--I would just make them a screen of gray or orange so they don't distract too much from the rest of the label.I offer this advice because I originally did lotion bottles with a label on the front and a label listing ingredients on the back. Not only was it time consuming to apply the labels, but it but it increases the cost of the item. Labels are too expensive in my opinion, so I cut costs and labor by listing ingredients in small print at the bottom of my label. I'm very happy with the change I made. Of course I just saw your post about putting the ingredients on the front - I may try that. It's a very good suggestion, anywhere I can cut costs is good!Again, any suggestion anyone has to offer is welcome. Please don't worry about hurting my feelings, I'm in desperate need of help! The black looks a little hard to read on the screen, but it looks good printed. Now that I've played with the fonts a little, I may revisit the plain door as well. I think this is the final version - I'll probably play with the font colors a little, but the basic idea will work. I really like the cutout door I posted above, but I think it's too hard to read unless you're up really close. Darn it, as soon as I posted I realized the net weight got left off in the shuffling of fonts. I have no idea where that's going to go. Does anyone see anything else missing?
