  1. I went in to Yankee the other day because a friend wanted to sniff around, and I fell in LOVE with their White Chocolate Mint scent. Does anyone know where I can get a duplicate of this??? I tried mixing NG's white chocolate with peppermint, but I can't nail it. I also have a friend that loves BBW's Japanese Cherry Blossom. I tried NG's, but she said it's not very close. Has anyone found a dead on dupe of this? Thanks everyone!!!
  2. I'm getting a sample of this and the 464 on Tuesday- if you give me until Thursday after they cure, I can answer all of your questions!
  3. Ok...totally off topic here, but I must be retarded- what the heck is BLANKEY?? I've obviously heard of Scentsy, but never Blankey.
  4. Absolutely wonderful! I can't even IMAGINE how much money you sunk in to all of this, and I hope that you triple it! Amazing job!!!!
  5. Yup- two 1/2 ozer's last longer collectively, but the 1 ozer's smell STRONGER. So, I typically tell people to burn only half of a 1 oz. tart if they're burning it in small area, because it may be too cloying otherwise...and a whole tart in larger places. Does that make sense?
  6. Thanks so much! I've been wavering back and forth on ordering from them since I've had such crappy experiences lately with FO suppliers....but if you loved them that much, I'll have to order some of these!!! Thanks again!!!
  7. Good motto! I'll give the 4794 a shot! At this point, I've tried so many, what's one more?!? Thanks!!!
  8. That's what I figured- my area is FULL of scentsy- you can't walk down the street without seeing scentsy products, or advertisements...it's crazy, but I'd like to be able to compete with them in some way and so far, the best wax I've found has been two mixed together...and it still doesn't QUITE have the lasting quality I'm looking for. They all melt fine in the Scentsy pots, they just don't last all that long in the scentsy pots. I'm thinking about getting a couple of other types of warmers to see if my waxes perform well in those, and just not Scentsy, but I'd really need a wax that does well in those warmers, or I'm SOL trying to sell anything in this area!!!
  9. IWantItGreen-YES!!! Thank you! I forgot- I do add 1/2 tsp. pp of vybar to help with the FO retention!!!! BlackTie- I haven't tried the 4794, but I LOVE 4786...it's just a little too soft unless it's for personal use, unfortunately. Is 4794 similar do you know?? I'm always looking for better products! LOL. I'm in the minority here, and think that most of the scentsy stuff I tried lasts a LONG time, and always manages to fill my house with fragrance, and I'd really love to replicate that since I'm in a very SCENTSY HEAVY area. Ugh...
  10. What kind of warmers do you guys use? Maybe that's my issue...? I have a scentsy warmer (I know, I know...) and there have only been two waxes I've tried (besides a blend I tried) that had ANY kind of throw at all. Although, I have to say that even the CT on the KY was really weak to me. How strange, right? We can all use the same wax, same FO's, same pouring temps, everything, and get such different results!
  11. I saw some a while back at WSP- not sure if they're still carrying them, but worth taking a look!
  12. Ravens- have you tried straight paraffin (IGI1343) mixed with 4630? I've tried soooooo many tart waxes/blends, and TCS was one of my favorites, but shipping to NJ is expensive! I recently tried KY's blend again, and I just can't get it to have a goot Cold OR hot throw! Anyway, I do a 60/40 mix of 1343 and 4630, and it's VERY similar to TCS- It's rock hard like TCS, and removes from the molds easily- takes up to 10% FO, and the scent throw is equal to TCS. It sucks having to blend, but you can get both of those from Lone Star, I believe! Anyway, thought it'd be worth a mention!
  13. I would definitely go get a scale if you want to do small batches- the one I got is $20 at walmart, and it does .1 oz. increments. So what I do is melt my wax in my pot, and then weigh out 2 oz. of wax, and .2 oz. of fragrance oil, and then I pour into those little itty bitty muffin pans. I usually get 4 small tarts out of that, and enough to test the wax, or scent I'm trying to see if I like it. Or, if you want to use only 6% EO, you would need .12 oz. of fragrance oil to 2 oz. of wax. Does that make sense...?
  14. Have you tried Sweet Pumpkin Spice from Peak's? I tested SO many pumpkin scents, and that one beat out pumpkin bread from AH by only a little bit.
  15. I've seen some with glitter at local craft fairs...but where in the world would one even get these embeds? They look like they're wax- but never, in all of my years of perusing candle supply sites have I seen suppliers of cute little embeds like that. And if she makes them herself...then sheesh- she's REALLY underpricing her stuff!!! I just bought a few for my mom- she loves melts, and I'm giving up on ever making them myself. LOL...and these are so cute!
  16. Let's see- from Just Scent, I've tried: Vanilla bean noel dirty dancing wild orchid & vanilla apple mango tango pumpkin & vanilla flip flops coppertone (which, by the way, smells NOTHING like suntan lotion to me!) Kitchen spice (again, nothing like BBW's old scent) Nutmeg spice And from Rustic Escentuals, I tried: Oatmeal Milk & Honey Creamy Nutmeg Grandma's kitchen Carrot Cake Midnight Pomegranate I figured they'd all be pretty strong scents, as opposed to soft, light scents...but I guess I was wrong!
  17. Hi! I'm really new to this "tart" making thing. My friend gave me a bag of some KY parasoy she had, and some Just Scent & Aroma Haven oils. I've read through this forum, and I see a lot of you use KY. I am NOT getting the great results you all are talking about. I heat the wax to 185 (like a few suggested on this board,) add the FO (10%!!), and pour in to my molds. I've let them cure for a week, and yet the cold throw is very weak, and the hot throw is just a joke. I can smell a couple of the oils for maybe an hour tops...and some of the lighter scents I can barely smell at all. Could it be the oils? Are these two suppliers not that great, perhaps? Do they have weak oils? Are there any companies out there that have "knock your socks off" powerful scents that I can try to compare? I also ordered IGI 4786, and EcoSoy Pillar Blend to try and see if they have any better results. I know some waxes work for some people while others do not (how that is, though, I'll never know!!) Any thoughts, though? Am I doing something wrong, or should I just move on to something that performs better...?? Thanks for any advice you can offer!
  18. Thanks so much! Michael- I'm sorry for your waste!!! I'm used to the comfort blend, which is basically a really sticky horrible version of this stuff, but it wicks totally different. I'll have to try the premier wicks. I requested some samples a while back and just received them the other day. Thanks again!!
  19. If you're making them for yourself regular old food dye works really well, too!
  20. Ok, I've been testing this new Harmony Blend IGI4630) in an 8 oz. Square Mason..not normally a big deal, but I can't get the wicking right! I use 9% FO load with NG'S Lick me all over, and it's just either smoking real badly, or leaving hang up on the sides. Can anyone proffer some advice? CD's give the best throw with this wax, and I've tried CD 8,10,12,14...they all either smoked, and the 8 flickered out. And HTP 104, 93, 83 all either smoked or flickered badly as well. I'm going to try LX's next, but if anyone has tried this, can you please tell me what you did RIGHT? Thanks so much!!!
  21. No way- nuh uh, not allowed, out of the question- you can NOT sell your biz!!! You have SUCH great products! And if someone as great as you is getting out, what then for the rest of us sorry schmucks?
  22. I'm weird- I only like soap and cleansing things (like shower gel) in my bath, and for some reason, the bubbles make me think it's cleansing- stupid, I know...it's a weird thing I have, but I love bubbles..they cover up unmentionable parts when my son bursts into the bathroom, too!!
  23. I make mine somewhat similiar, except I use some epsom salts in there, and I use the same amount of oatmeal as milk. People LOVE them!! I think they're sooo soothing! Much more so than regular bath bombs. They don't seem to fizz as much, but they definitely leave your skin feeling soooo much nicer! I hope you all try this recipe, because it's awesome!
  24. I've had that happen to a couple of lotion bars I made that were really heavy on butters. I'm not sure WHY it happens, but I think it's somewhat normal. I got a shea butter from the body shop a while ago that was cracked, and I didn't think anything of it. Also, for samples of lotion bars, I use lip balm tubes. They're the perfect size for samples and you can get pretty creative with the labeling- like Grumpy Girl has!!! If the lotion bar's pretty tough to rub in, try using some more oil, and it might help with the cracking.
  25. I haven't tried NG's, but I just soaped Tony's the other day and it's awesome! It's super strong right now, which I was really surprised by! But, I've never had a bad oil from them!
