Jcandleattic
Okay, I know this is going to sound dumb - but how do you use it? LOL I was trying to find pictures of palm pillars, and every search I tried didn't work. I know there has to be a way to find such things, but I have no idea... LOL I'd love to figure it out. I don't know what good "following" someone does. I did that with a few, but I don't really see anything from them, and I pinned something (umm the acid trip soap from Grumpy Girl) but because I love looking at Friends meme's so when I pinned her soap I figured other soap pictures would pop up for me to look at, but nope, all Friends meme's... LOL IDK I don't get it I guess... HELP!!! BTW if you want to find me on there - I'm Jcandleattic of course. LOL
Belinda
I love pinterest! I just type in what I want to look at and pin what I like. If it's something I haven't pinned before then I create a new board. If someone else's boards come up and they have a lot of things on there that I like, then I follow them because I know our taste is the same and they'll find things that I won't be able to find.I typed in palm pillar candles and pulled up a lot of pictures. I'm not quite sure what you're looking for though.HTH
Jcandleattic
I think I'm just searching wrong. I just wanted to see some palm pillars to get some inspiration. I put in palm candles and I got some palm trees, some palm oil, and some container candles, (not palm) so I was confused as to how it worked. LOL I did what you did and put in palm pillar candles and exactly what I wanted came up. Thank you Belinda.
TallTayl
It is where i collect and organize ideas, find inspiration and waste countless hours of a day. Rather than cut out magazine photos or print from web sites, you "pin" the things you like to an electronic bulletin board. If, for instance, i want to look at Fairy Houses i type that in the top and sit amazed over all the neat ideas people have. If a photo moves me, I "pin" it to a board of my own so i can find it easily later. Last weekend i looked up polymer clay. Yup, collected a bunch of tutorials and gorgeous polymer photos in all sorts of applications.Want photography tips, plenty of them on Pinterest. Soap displays? By the dozens. Color inspiration? Palettes and palettes worth. Not sure what kind of bread to make tonight? Ooooohhhhh you'll find loads of breads with links to recipes, blogs, etc. i pin the ones i especially like so i can find them in my collection later.

I think I have it figured out now. Sometimes new things are very intimidating to me, and I don't understand why.And most of the time it's the easiest things that come hard for me. LOL And I have no idea why my other post posted twice - minutes apart from each other. I only posted it once. LOL
Guest OldGlory
banging my head on the table...oh good lord, I will never catch up to technology!I don't know why local junior colleges don't offer tech classes for old people.
TallTayl
OG, pinterest is a huge time suck. A colorful, blissful time suck, but still... A part of me still curses my dear friend who introduced me to Pinterest, lol.
Guest OldGlory
You don't know the half of it, TT. I am still on dial up, so everything I do on the computer is a huge time suck. I have spent hours on Pinterest, but all I did was view the content (and very little content at that, lmbo). It's like Facebook - takes me half an hour to load a page of content. Not worth it!Even if I'm not going to while away the hours on a website I would still like to know all the ins and outs. Maybe I need to ask my computer repair guy for classes when his business is slow.Edited to add: Dial up ain't what it used to be. Since high speed was invented, of course they had to slow down dial up. It's ridiculous how much it has changed for the worse. Jcandleattic
I think I am finally getting the gist of how pinterest works. I'm slowly building boards, and pins, and finding people to follow etc... Thanks for all the advice and help.
justajesuschick
Don't forget to make a board of your beautiful work for sale and link it to Pinterest from your website. Those browsing Pinterest can become your new customers!

megandgarr
I am a Pinterest fanatic. I have been browsing, pinning, following and such for quite some time. I go through spurts where I will spend huge amounts of time on there and then I will go weeks without opening it at all. Right now my hubby has been browsing it daily. I laugh at him because he used to think I was crazy. Now I see him sitting on the couch with his laptop on Pinterest getting ideas for things to do around the house, LOL. I did create a Honey Do board for him a long time ago. Someday maybe he will actually make something from that board. With Pinterest you can just keep scrolling, and scrolling, and scrolling and before you know it, hours have gone by. I have a blog of my crafty fun stuff and home decorating, and those pics are pinned to my boards. I have also gotten tons of great ideas that I have "borrowed" for my house as well. I have the app on my phone, which is great to browse through when you need to kill a few minutes.
Belinda
I'm so glad you figured it out Jcandleattic! Now you can become obsessed with it like the rest of us! LOL! You really can get a lot of great ideas on there and like Karen said, it's good for advertising too!

iansmommaya
Old Glory, here the rec centers, parks, and some schools offer "community education" classes that include computer and technology for fogies. You might check that out. I love pinterest! I am glad you found what you wanted, JC. Guest OldGlory
Some day when I have high speed access I will get in the game. Until then there's no point. When I bought my first computer (1996) I took 3 classes at a local comm. college. Worth every penny of it!Now I just want a crash course on social media when my computer can handle it. I'm sure there's some 12 year old kid I can bribe with $20. Edited February 25, 2015 by OldGlory
Candybee
I just don't go on Pinterest. The first time I saw it I thought OMG-- its a human fly trap! So I got out fast and don't look back. LOL
Jcandleattic
I find I don't spend that much time on there. I like it and it's great when I'm there, but I don't really get sucked in. Not like with youtube and soaping videos, or the facebook soap groups. Those are more time sucks for me than Pintrest is.

Not like with youtube and soaping videos, or the facebook soap groups. Those are more time sucks for me than Pintrest is. I ended up pinning all of my soap videos and things like that on pinterest in one spot so I got rid of a lot of bookmarks cluttering my favorites list. Spent a lot of time there the first week I registered and now not so much. its a good place for finding ideas for different things tho
Jcandleattic
I'm sure this spring when I want to spruce up my deck and back yard I'll be on there looking for ideas.
iansmommaya
You know that site, http://pinterestfail.com/ pinterest fail? Well.... Last summer I tried to add sheets to the top of my deck for some protection from the sun, and pretty fairy lights. AND I tried to hand the sheets like sun umbrellas ya know ______________________________________________________ from post to post or post to house. It really failed. It look like shit in .0000005 seconds. the first tiniest wind twisted the sheets up, then it rained. and they looked somehow spooted with mud, even tho they were 15 feet from the earth. It was the most epic pinterest fail ever. I reallllllly wish I would have taken pics.
