katie
What are your Christmas Tree or Pine scents ? and where are they from Thanks
Trappeur
Christmas Tree from Fillmore -It is really Balsam Fir......I've been using this for over 10 years.....is very very beautiful and wonderful thrower. This was originally the Natural Artisans signature fragrance for years till she went out of business and sold out to Fillmore. It was originally named Balsam Fir and then Fillmore renamed to Christmas Tree.Note: Add Vanilla Voodoo to this and wow, what a beautiful scent! It's beautiful on it's own but takes on a softer sweet scent when I mix.....This is my most favorite pine scent even though I have other beautiful ones listed below...but it's my favorite and I rename...... Northwoods from Bittercreek NorthAnother nice pine scent.......Very strong Sugared Spruce from Candle Soylutions....Wonderful also.....Very strongI'm burning this right now.......love it! Christmas Hearth from Candle ScienceExtremely strong - I love this one....You can actually smell the fire going in the fireplace mixed in with the pine..... Scotch Pine from Candle ScienceA different take on pine.....very different and very strong.....I like this too Spruce Orchard from Lone StarTo me this is a sugared spruce....I love this one too and very strong Cinnamon and Balsam from PeaksI can't remember if I tried it....I believe I did and it did exceptionally well...... Spruceberry from PeaksI love this one! Christmas Tree or Balsam Fir from Community CandleGreat scent and thrower! All the fragrances I've listed above I've tested even with shorter time periods. I always wait a week to cure, but I can honestly say that all the scents are so strong I could burn in 2 days.......a couple even the next day......They are all so potent and you can't do wrong with any of these fragrances in my opinion. SCENTS I DON'T CARE FOR THAT I HAVE TRIED THAT DID NOT GIVE OUT THROWS FOR ME AND I USE GB464Mistletoe from Candle ScienceI just don't care for this scent at all and most everyone will tell you that it is a #1 Top Fragrance.I think for the holidays the name Mistletoe sells in just about everything. Spruce Xmas Tree from PeaksI got no throwMost will tell you it is a top favorite here...but I couldn't get it to throw....I need to retry and maybe up a little percentage...I always use 6%, but maybe I need more?. Winter Wonderland from PeaksA very very faint throw...it's somewhat nice - but doesn't turn my head Frasier Fir from PeaksAs much as I like Frasier Fir and I really wanted this one to work, it just didn't for me at all......I could hardly smell anything Winter Woodlands Whisper from Candle CocoonNo throw for me and that is so odd................as I love all Lyschels scents pretty much and they all sure do throw......I love the name though! Christmas Tree from Candle ScienceNothing special..... Frosty Pine Cones from Candle ScienceI'm testing that this week. Can you tell I'm into Pines? lol One thing I've wanted to try is a Pinion Pine....Sounds Different....Haven't found one. Trappeur
Candybee
I use CS Mistletoe. I love it so much I have it year round. It smells like a christmas wreath to me, very fresh and strong. It has eucalyptus EO in it which I like because it can also work as a sinus relief scent. My favorite candle Christmas Tree scent is Fillmore's Christmas Tree hands down. It is the same scent that Tradewinds used to carry years ago and Tradewinds had some of the best FOs around during its time. Once I found this one I quit looking. My favorite for soaping is Elements Smoky Mtn Pine (formerly Christmas Pines from Flickers). Its wonderful in CP, a lovely fresh and slightly sweet pine perfect for soap. No A&D and doesn't morph or fade. Stays true and strong. I suppose it can be used in candles too I just never tried it once I started using Fillmore's CT. moonshine
I also LOVE mistletoe- it's my favorite Xmas/pine scent and throws like crazy in 415Pinion just so you know is the same as mistletoe- MW's version anyways- now offered at FB so if you don't like mistletoe you will not like pinion Rocky Mountain Xmas from elements is another favorite of mine from elements....I am going to have to try that smokey mountain pine next time I order You may like winter festival which was a MW now at FB but it has a more berry note than pineI am surprised you don't get great throw from winter wonderland- when I used 464 it was one of the few that did throw great for me- in 415 it's almost too strong
jbrooks
I don't really make candles yet because after lots of testing, I'm still terrible, but my favorite to smell in other candles and in melts is Blue Spruce from CS. It's not at all a 'warm' holiday scent, and it smells probably more like a forest than a typical Christmas tree, but we always had spruce trees around the holidays, so it reminds me of that time. I knew it was mountain something. Its the old flicker's Christmas Pines. There is a Smokey Mountain Pine at Purefragranceoils. It used to be from Old Mill and when OM closed it went to SGS. It was the very first pine scent I used in soap back when I made M&P. If you want a fresh pine scent on steroids this one is it. It has a deeper, richer, dark green pine scent with hints of smokiness to it. Haven't used it in a while because it was just too strong for me. But it was perfect for scenting my embeds in soap. Michdj
Last year I used CS Christmas Tree and it smells like... pine. That's it. There's no depth to it. People bought it, but I think there are better scents out there. This year I'm actually switching over to Blue Spruce from CS. I had a sniffie from them last year (AFTER I made my Evergreen candles) and thought - THERE it is! Ugh!
megandgarr
Another Mistletoe (CS) fan here!!!! I also love Cinnamon & Bayberry, while not a pine scent, it is a great Christmas scent!

7 Pawz
Christmas Day from Glory Bee Foods. Very strong, good hot and cold throw. I used it in J223 wax a few years ago. Haven't tried it in GB464 which I am testing now. I'd like to find a closer supplier tho. Haven't found a fo yet that would be similar to Christmas Day and I've been looking for a while. j1workman
I tried Frasier Fir for the first time from Peaks last year and it is pretty awesome and sold well, I use 4630A wax. I am actually burning it now - I live in a world of Ponderosa Pines up here in Paradise, CA and I love the smell! I wish I could take all the darn sap that ends up on my car and put in a candle!!!! Another huge favorite is Home for the Holidays from Peaks - it has a bit of pine in it, but has the other great Christmas scents in it that make it a perfect, all-around scent for the holidays. Guest OldGlory
So now I am curious. Is anyone familiar with Balsam Fir by Thymes? I think that's what it's called. Does Fillmore's Christmas Tree smell like that? Edited August 19, 2014 by OldGlory

Now I need to dig out the tiny bit of Bert's Christmas Tree I have left (which I've cleverly hidden from myself in my basement) and compare it to that! And Old Glory, I have never smelled the Thymes candle, maybe someone else has, sorry!
Candybee
MzPickles its good to see another Fillmore Container FO convert. Isn't Fillmore's Christmas Tree divine!!! Its lovely in candles. Trappeur
So now I am curious. Is anyone familiar with Balsam Fir by Thymes? I think that's what it's called. Does Fillmore's Christmas Tree smell like that?Old Glory, no it's not like Thymes. It's hard to describe. The Thymes fragrance is really beautiful but I have never came across another pine like that. I've been looking but no hits yet. Filmores Christmas Tree (balsam fir) the best way I can describe it is......have you ever picked up those little stuffed aroma pillows in gift stores that are filled with fresh balsam? Well this is the scent. It's heavenly. It's a smooth soft woodsy scent but strong enough without being overbearing or powerful like a lot of pine scents tend to be. It's a true New England evergreen Balsam Fir aroma. If you would like I'm making some custom melts for a store this week in this Balsam fir and I could mail you some samples. Just message me with your address and I can send to you. Trappeur
Trappeur
I forgot to mention that there isn't any eucalyptus in this scent either. If there was, I wouldn't be so in love with this scent as I can't stomach any eucalyptus..... Trapper
Guest OldGlory
Trapp, thanks for the offer, that's really kind of you. I LOVE the little pillows with fir needles, bought one from a store in Waynesville years ago. I will take your word for it and order some. That's one of my favorite fragrances ever. I'll share it with my local candlemaking pals

I have little balsam fir sachets from a trip to the Adirondacks 30 years ago, and my in-laws live in Maine now so they send us a fresh balsam wreath every year for Christmas, some years I strip the dried needles and save them for a while. That is exactly what the BBW Slatkin Fresh Balsam smells like! I am beyond happy that the Fillmore fragrance smells just like that! This has made my year!!!!
