  1. I am almost out of J223 and was wondering what everyone else uses for containers. I'm open for suggestions....maybe what you like and dislike about the different waxes. Thanks
  2. I do poke relief holes in the 16 oz. but not in the smaller ones. Had them in all sizes. Thanks
  3. I noticed that I even have air bubble in the bottom of jar so could these have been poured too fast? I didn't think I did anything different. The room they were poured in was also a heated room. Just wondering.
  4. I poured a candles yesterday...heated the jars...poured around 155....slow cooled in box covered with a towel. Big ole wet spots...When you heat the jar, you get air bubbles coming up. I contacted IGI this morning....they contacted me with questions about all necessary info so I am just waiting. I've had this wax for a couple of years....maybe three. I am on the last box and used the first couple of slabs. Does wax get old and cause problems? or am I doing/not doing something?
  5. When I die, I'm taking it all with me. It was my money to spend as needed, my kids went without food for me to afford this addiction and I don't want someone else having all the fun while I'm laying around dead, doing nothing. It just gets in your body like a disease and takes over. But ain't it great!!! When we die they can use FO instead of imbalming(sp?) fluid.
  6. Thanks Candle Man, I was thinking that might be the case but wanted to get another opinion. It looked like alot of meltin' for that little wick. Thanks. I'm gonna get brave and try one of these sometime. They look really different.
  7. Do you have to go up on wick size when you make chucks? Wasn't sure if it needed a "boost" to get those chunks melting or if it would be just like a regular container. I've never done this before, as you can tell, but I wanted to get my ducks in a row before I started and made a big mess. Thanks Ginger
  8. I've been reading throught the archives looking for advice on chunk container candles. Do you make the chunks out of a pillar wax and over pour with container wax? I noticed in the archives that some used the same wax for both but with container wax being softer, wouldn't you end up with squishy chunks? or is there a secret to doing it with container wax?
  9. Those are sooo cute. My 6 year old grandson would flip over those!
  10. I make candles but have never taken or posted any pics. I just love to read all the great info and look at the pictures of all the awesome products everyone makes. Plus I'm always asking questions and searching for advice. This is site has many creative crafters.
  11. I bought some of those that couldn't be printed on back side so I used the clear labels to print the scent names on and then just pressed on the inside. It will work until I get these business cards used up and then I'll change to some that are printable on both. The business cards are easy to use...just takes time to set up for printing on both sides.
  12. I don't make bath and beauty products but you guys sure make some beautiful products. I really enjoy looking at all of the great creations you guys make. Your presentation is so much nicer than mass production companys and it's better quality. Keep up the good work. I just sit and dream while I enjoy your pictures.
  13. Would it help to put a small amount of wax in pouring pot and then add either/both the dyes and let them melt in that small amount then add to the rest? I personally didn't like the smell of the liquid dye and I have the other two on hand. Maybe I just won't make red or pink candles and that should take care of it. :undecided Thanks for your help. Practice makes perfect, practice makes perfect, practice makes perfect.
  14. I use J223 wax, either powder or block dye and in alot of my red and pink candles, I get the red spots where the dye isn't dissolved good. I stir till I can't stir any more and still have them. Is there any other reason for these spots?
  15. It showed me the page could not be displayed.
  16. That's wonderful and I know you must be very excited!!
  17. I like them all. They are beautiful candles. WOW!!!
  18. You're so lucky to live fairly close to a candle supply business. I have to drive to Texas...about 4 1/2 hours away if I want to shop in person but then I don't have as much to spend so I can buy gas for the trip home. Lucky You!!
  19. I've had a few that the wicks fell off center like that but I called those rejects and melt them down. Maybe they are someones rejects that they get a really good deal on.
  20. Just make a really BIG wick out of something and you'll have a candle in a bucket!! Start a new trend. It might ward of skeeters and snakes. Great for outside parties. I had a friend in Texas whose husband would keep all the melted wax from candles they burned. He some how made a wick out of some worn out mens underware and every year took this massive candle with him to the deer lease. I thought the wick thing was so funny when he was telling me about it. He really swore by his candle.
  21. Maybe they need to start a support group like AA only call it FOA.
  22. Do you purchase your loofa or grow your own? I grew some a few years ago and they are so easy to grow. You just need a lot of fence for it to grow on and the flowers are a beautiful yellow.
  23. Thanks for all the info about juried shows. I didn't mean to take over this thread but I have learned alot. Thanks again.
  24. When you say, "submit products for review" does that mean actual products must be sent or pictures of your product line? Please don't laugh at my dumb questions.....I know nothing about this stuff.
