  1. I use C3 and have tested the ECOs...they do burn hotter. Now I'm testing CDN's and find they do consume the wax at a slower rate and have a nice, steady flame. I don,t get sooting with CDNs the way I did with ECOs but it usually takes the 2nd burn before I reach fmp...hth
  2. Not sure if its body safe, but LS Peppermint Bark is a great mixture of dk chocolate, peppermint, and vanilla
  3. Peaks Blackberry Sage smells exactly like blackberries and sage-no bakery smell whatsoever...hth
  4. Love CS Pumpkin Souffle, CS Amaretto Nog, Peaks Mango Peach Salsa and Blackberry Sage (using C3)...hth
  5. Thanks...waiting on some CDN's then back to testing...getting antsy-have some new fo's I'm dyin to try
  6. Thanks for the advice...Kimmeroo, I usually add fo between 150 (citrus) and 170*-so I'll test adding fo at a slightly higher temp and see if that helps... Stella, that helped...I do not want to add more than 8.5% (1oz to 12oz per jar) but was wondering if just upping the fo would give me that dreaded cottage cheese thing again lol...lower pour temps and a little CO has really helped with that and the look of the candle. I'll get it one of these days...if I don't pull my hair out first!
  7. Very realistic-great job!
  8. Thanks Stella for the links...in regards to tempering w/ the 464-will those temps work w/ theC3? Seems the melt temp and add fo temp is to low
  9. Placed an order this morning...I'm trying their Vanilla Bean Nectarine, Blackberry Sage, Lemon Pound Cake, and French Vanilla and Amber-so hard to choose
  10. Permatex should be considered permanent...hth
  11. I've had floating wicks at the end of test burns using a high temp glue gun and now only use it for testers but for those I give to my family or friends I use the Permatex...
  12. I'm pretty satisfied with how the C3 looks and behaves now so I don't want to add anything more for those reasons...just want to know how to increase the fo load. Maybe I just need to wait till I can get new testers made w/ the CDNs and try a few different fo's and go from there
  13. Thanks for the input...Next week I'll be testing the CDN 12s and 14s (been testing the 16s in 16oz) and try the less is more theory. I was wondering tho if the UA can be used in C3...it's more readily available and shipping from the 1 supplier with USA is too much. Since I've changed my pour temp I've had great results with the tops and no wet spots :yay:but I'm still not there with the wicking-and I'm in total agreement with finding just 1 wick for 1 jar for most fo's-just have to find the darn one Update...just called Peaks and they informed me that UA is not to be used with soy or C3...so new ?...Does USA help increase the fo load in C3?
  14. good morning rjdaines and thank you...I've been testing CS Cranberry Marmalade and Peaks Amish Harvest. I was wondering if UA would help (USA is only available from 1 supplier that I've found and shipping is just too much)..tia...I'll be retesting wick sizes this coming week-waiting on some CDN's
  15. In ht testing stages now...I'm using 6% fo, heat wax to 185*, add dye, remove from heat and add fo at 170-stirring constantly until pour using Peaks and CS for fo's and letting them cure 2 weeks before testing ( CDN and Premier wicks)...although CT is amazing the HT is not where I would like it to be...is there an additive to use for C3 to help it carry a higher % fo load (personal preference to strong ht) suggestions? I'm using 16 oz canning jars but have also tested in 20oz straight sided wm jars...
  16. C3 does well with light/pastel colors and if you add USA it should really help with the frosting issues...Stella has mentioned that certain fo's can really affect the amount of frosting you get too...
  17. rjdaines...I use C3 but unlike most, I pour at 112* and use 1 tsp CO per lb and get really smooth tops hth!
  18. I started testing with C3 and have found that for me, pouring cooler and adding a small amount of coconut oil (start with 1 tsp per lb) really helped with the tops-they're really smooth. The bottom left hand candle appears to be slightly overwicked. I have not tried those wicks but from the ones I have I'm liking the Premier 700 series and CDN's...hth!
  19. I switched my canning jars to one that is still 16oz but is slightly shorter and wider than the Ball or Kerr jars but it is not wm (but wouldn't you know it-they've been discontinued, only have 8 cases left )...as soon as I can figure out how to put pictures on (so computer illiterate) I will post some-I'll have to ask my son LOL
  20. They look great-love the peppermint stick!
  21. They look great!! Love the labels too...
  22. I'm still trying to retrain my line of thinking when it comes to less is more...Stella, I've been testing pass few weeks with the C3 and CDNs and Premier wicks. I tried the CDN16 and then the 18 because I thought the hang up left over the first few burns meant it wasn't burning hot enough-and the ht isn't where I thought it should be so i wicked up. FunFlames explained that to get the oxygen needed to burn the fuel that it will draw up I should try wicking down (yes, you suggested that too, but umm, didn't listen :embarasse) and that may improve the ht. So I will be trying that this week with the CDN12 and 14 in the 16oz canning jar. When I use CBA with LX, I get a great even burn with good ht, but C3 does NOT burn the same way as CBA nor does LX burn the same in C3- so I need to stop comparing the 2 and thinking that what works for 1 will for the other.*dead horse*But, I have finally got the pour temp down and amount of CO I want to use and having fun getting to know this wax
