  1. I tried the ECO's...12, 14, & 16 they all performed poorly and drowned out in the 464. I ordered the premier's (sample pack) to try those in the 464 but have no idea where to start with the size because they sent such a huge variety lol...I may have to order some CD's from LS and see how they do since CS and Peaks doesn't carry them. The premier wicks look different from the LX's and eco's so I can't even attempt to match up the sizes
  2. Have my wicking down for CBA but not the 464. I've tried LX, ECO, and HTP and I'm not satisfied with any of them. Took your advice and ordered sample pack from WickIt (what a great deal!) but they have SO many sizes to choose from...I'm trying to wick a 16oz canning jar with 3.20" dia using 464, dye, and 10% fo load...any suggestions to start me off would be greatly appreciated-the LX26 and LX28 worked best but not perfect by a long shot.
  3. Same here...when the glass jars go on sale at 50% off, I preorder however many I need and they call me when the jars come in. I've been able to order large quantities with no problem (and NO SHIPPING)
  4. Update...I finally finished testing and rewicking and repouring, I did add a small amount of fo to each one and I must say I'm really glad I didn't trash them. They look beautiful and the ht is good :smiley2: and they burn much better. Of course-I won't do that again-alot of work but was worth it
  5. WickIt is sending me some samples of the CDN's and thanks for letting me know where I can purchase them...I prefer the LX's with the CBA but not liking them in the 464. Thanks for the help once again
  6. Hmm...every one I posted is there and was done within a minute and posted on the site
  7. Thanks! And this is why we test burn all the way to the end...on my 2nd burn with 464 the Eco is now burning much hotter and faster than the LX but I really don't care for either with this wax so I will be giving Wickit a call....
  8. where did you order the cdn's from? CS doesn't carry them and they're the only supplier I use...
  9. Stella-thanks for the info...here at my Walmart they offer the standard Kerr and the widemouth Kerr 16oz jars and I use the standard. I just started testing the LX and Eco wicks in 464...LX works great in CBA but what a 'shroom it created in the 464-Eco wick is burning much nicer and a little slower...I am going to try your suggestion and order some CDN's and hopefully find the perfect wick lol...I use CS and will have to research where to buy the cdn's-hopefully they'll have sample packs
  10. IWantItGreen-I'll retest the ECO wicks and be diligent about trimming and see if that does help..I do like the LX tho for CBA Stella-they're the Kerr canning jars from Walmart-3 1/4"-not the wide mouth...thanks for the support!
  11. rjdaines-thanks, I will order some CDs and try with the 464. Right now I'm testing with the Eco's and LXs...like the way ecos burn but they sometimes curl so much that they put themselves out in the mp. I'm using 16oz canning jars and with the CBA I use LX26..what do you suggest I try with the 464 using cd's? I use 9% fo and dye
  12. I use CBA and just started testing 464 but I get amazing ht for the pumpkin souffle in CBA-I use 16 oz canning jars with LX26. Seems I have to wick up with 464 but still just in the beginning phase of testing...
  13. I ordered most of those but only have tested the Sangria in CBA so far...I like it-great ct and ht but used it at 8.5% and cured for a week
  14. I use CBA and it makes a beautiful candle...you may need to wick up a few sizes tho-even with 8 oz canning jars I need to use LX22. For me, I got the best results from following the manufacture's advice on temp for melting, adding fo, and pouring. It does take more fo for CBA to have a good ht but by letting them cure for at least a week and using about an 8 to 9% load you should have a great smelling candle. I pour at 115 and have never had to prewarm containers or do anything special and they've always come out great. It's amazing how a 5 to 10 degree difference in pour temp can affect the look of the candle...have fun...the pumpkin souffle throws great in CBA : )
  15. Lonestar has good shipping prices but for fo's I prefer CandleScience...for me they worked better in soy. I use CBA and LX wicks and for 464 the eco wicks but will be trying the CD wicks because of the good feedback. For containers, the cheapest and easiest, IMO, to start with are the 8 oz Kerr canning jars from Walmart. Have fun!
  16. Don't forget wick trimmer, snuffer, and candle lighter-so they can fully enjoy and appreciate your candles ; )
  17. Thanks for all the help! I live out in Phx so to keep my home at 74* is going to kill my electric bill lol but I'll give it a try while I'm making the candles...I did notice a big improvement by pouring at 110 compared to 150 with the 464 as far as frosting goes...
  18. jackbenimble-thanks! Like I mentioned, I get decent ht from CBA but have to up the fo amount...really like the ct from 464-will test burn tomorrow-do you have any advice for the 464 on how to greatly reduce the frosting issues-I poured 2 at different temps and the lower temp definetly appears to be much better but both testers have a bumpy top-is that common for 464 too? Spoiled from the CBA-really trying to get close to what I consider a good ht but you can smell the difference in ct alone between 464 and CBA...I don't mind the testing aspect of it all-kinda cool really-but I need to just face the facts that there are no real shortcuts lol...One more ?...I use LX26 for CBA 16 oz jars-should I start testing 464 in that jar with same wick or should I wick up or down a size to start?
  19. jackbenimble...how does the excel compare to the CBA as far as ht goes? I get a decent ht but tried the 464 you suggested and yes, better ht but the frosting kills me lol...
  20. I use the CBA and never have frost issues even with darker colored candles...you do need to play with the FO amount you use and wick to get a decent ht but CBA does make a beautiful candle
  21. Egyptian Sheets from LoneStar is really nice too...softer than clean cotton but such a pleasant scent!
  22. that's a good idea-thanks for the help!
  23. I will start tomorrow and let you know how it went...just the thought of having to clean and shine all those jars so I can reuse them-#*%@!!
  24. I tested 3 of the 6 fo's and was happy with the burn so I continued making 30 candles in the 6 scents...but when I burned the one with the slightly higher % fo it had a smaller flame and mp so I want to wick up one size on the heavier load candle and see how that does and go from there...all 30 candles look beautiful and the ct is awesome on all of them that's why I want to salvage them...but definetly lesson learned-patience and diligent testing from now on (sigh)
