  1. Imo, you should test the wick till the end of the jar so you know how it does...then if you think it is still to big make another tester using the CD16. Wicks behave differently through subsequent burns and its hard to tell from the 1st burn just how well it will or wont do. Of course, if its a torch or the wick drowns out, then yes pull it and try another, but if it looks decent then test it till the end...hth
  2. Thx! I've enjoyed reading the older posts tho too...right now I'm waiting on some USA to experiment with so I have a little spare time to read lol...
  3. Although we can't search at the moment, I have been reading through the older posts page by page:rolleyes2 and have come across a wealth of info I may never have stumbled on to. I will, however, be happy when the forum is running back to normal...
  4. You are right...theyre shipping it in flat rate box ...very nice to deal with!
  5. I tested them using C3...I went with CDNs but the Premier series are definetly my second choice. As long as the correct size wick is used, it offers a clean burn, nice steady flame, and burns evenly...hth
  6. Thanks Stella, I've not had any frosting issues as of yet but would like to make the tops smoother. I've been doing repours but would much rather skip that step if possible. Im going to order some USA and test it....thx again!
  7. I use C3 and cdn wicks and in a 3" canning jar I use a CDN16, so maybe srart with a CD 18 and go from there...hth
  8. Are there other suppliers who carry usa other than The Candlemakers Store (HIGH shipping)? tia
  9. I finally have my pour temp down and rarely get wet spots (on 16oz jar), frosting issues so far, are nonexistent BUT...my tops are not real smooth. Thx to your advice on here, since cooling on a rack and under a box I no longer have sink holes but I've had to resort to repours to get the tops I desire. I don't like using a heat gun cuz it brings on wet spots so I would like to know if USA really makes a noticeable difference in the tops coming out smooth and even (the shipping cost is quite high). TIA I tried to move this over but couldnt figure out how:confused:
  10. I use C3 and have great success with Peaks and CS fo's...hth
  11. that stinks ..I rarely get them on my 16oz canning jars nor on the victorian jars, but they have a thing for my 8oz jj's...
  12. ?...If you're pouring now for spring scents and your containers have wet spots, will they disappear as the weather warms up? It starts warming up nicely by Feb. so I'm jusr curious...tia
  13. Yes, Stella only states the facts and lets not forget, she has vast knowledge because she DOES the research, the reading, the testing...I for one have benefited from her experience as I have from others and appreciate the feedback and suggestions I get from this forum.
  14. Ksranch-thank you for clarifying that...
  15. ChandlerWicks, I too have never heard of a NCD wick and did try a search from suppliers and this forum and did not find anything...maybe someone transposed the letters and was actually refering to CDNs. If not, would like to see the link on where to purchase these wicks to test to compare with the CDs and CDNs.
  16. I would try a tester using a CD14, using C3 in that diameter I use a 16-different wax tho.
  17. If my container was wicked correctly, I had virtually no mushroom or sooting with the Premier and I love how evenly they burn down the wax. However, the CDNs won out for me because they burn really clean...The Premiers would definetly be my 2nd choice tho for C3 hthf
  18. I prefer to use jj's because I like to use colors (and I have wicking down lol)...Stella, I do all the above (advice I've received from u before ) but have not tried putting them in box...always leave them out for first 24 hrs so I will try that next. Dont have these kind of issues during the sweltering summer months lol..thx
