  1. I will be making melts tomorrow in Wildberry Mousse, Hillbilly Homebrew, Cracklin' Birch and Pumpkin Souffle
  2. I do as you do, about 5 days + but I was wondering if these ones they were talking about from ICS took any more than that or the great throws were about this cure time. I know what you mean about the melt people, who in my opinion have gotten bad advice from somewhere - I mean a glade plug in in your bathroom isn't going to scent your whole house -- that's just common sense but customers are weird I say! I personally run FOUR melters in my house if I want the whole place to smell lovely (you know when company comes over LOL) I have 1 in the kitchen, 1 in dining room, 1 in bathroom and 1 in living room. that was off topic but yeah ... lol
  3. how long are you having to cure the ones mentioned in 415? Are you having to use 1.5 or able to use 1 oz pp? I'm curious as I have thought about trying them but didn't know much. So this is a great thread!
  4. This is SO interesting! I have naturally curly and semi-coarse hair that goes the middle of my back. It is quite the ordeal to wash it as it being curly, it tangles. So I have to wash, then slather with conditioner and comb it in the shower to detangle. If I were to wait until I got out of the shower to comb it would be a disaster. My daughter is biracial - so she has the same hair as I do but a bit coarser and SO THICK! I have so much trouble getting our hair to behave, I wonder if these shampoo bars/products with syndets or what have you might make this a bit easier. I would be interested in hearing from those that produce them so I could purchase and try them our, as I am not taking on ANY new product creation ventures LOL.
  5. I priced the kiosk's where I live and it was about $800-1000 month and during the holiday seasons the rent tripled for October thru December + plus you have to buy your own racking and features like that. I would LOVE to have one too as I bet one could do well but a small biz like me can get priced and it would take quite an investment to run for awhile until you turn a profit. It is SO pretty though! Love how it looks!
  6. I'm interested! .... I just noticed even the wick is black!
  7. interesting post, like reading each person's tips and tricks. Undecided if I will spigot or not lol
  8. Someone said he could have planted the ezine and all that, can't you get in serious trouble if you say you were in a magazine and you weren't? Also, I REALLY want black reed sticks!! -- off topic, I saw them on his site, and I want them LOL
  9. Steve, I am using the 415. The 9 oz is slightly taller than it is wide. Just trying to perfect the one size for now but I would like to also offer the 16 someday soon. thanks for the info!!
  10. I have only used M&P too... I'm too afraid of Lye!! Besides, my customers consider it hand crafted whether others do or not.
  11. I got my order Monday and smelled everything OOB and her oils are very strong, which is a good thing, so it was hard to get an idea of end product but right off the bat I loved Apple Jack & Peel Berry Creme Burlee 052 High Cotton 124 Hillbilly Homebrew 112 Lilac Breeze 025 Mulberry Wine 028 Pomegranate The others I'm going to have to get into to wax to get the real deal as they were so strong and some (like Musk and Red Currant) I'm not sure about altogether but that is just personal preference of scent type. Thanks everyone for all of your feedback on the oils, I will put mine in here after testing as well. Looks like I am going to HAVE to get Sweet Orange Chili Pepper, Cozy Home, and Warm Vanilla Oak
  12. Hi Stella - I am sorry I did not give accurate information or I muddied it up a bit I initially used 1 oz pp and CD12 wick and a dud, then 2nd time 1.5 oz pp - using a CD12 wick in the 9 oz salsa that is about 3" diam. It took 2 weeks to get a throw from that candle which I had thought was an altogether dud but said what the heck and lit it again at the roughly 2 week mark and it was great! So... I came in here and read about that oil needing wicked up and being difficult, so for the third pour, I wicked up to CD16, still using 1.5 oz pp because I didn't have any CD14 to be found (I think I hid them somewhere) To answer your question, I did wick up 2 sizes but I did not change the oil percentage or any other factors like heating or pouring temperature. I do try to keep candles poured and in stock but it never feels like I have enough and would "prefer" in a "perfect" world to have the majority of my scents in my line up throw sooner rather than later. But this isn't the perfect world LOL Was it a bad idea to wick up 2 sizes in that container? I haven't tested any yet, I just poured them Sunday evening. Planned on doing that tonight.
  13. I am personally in love with that FO, I tried it based upon reviews here and it is toe curling in that it isn't too "artificial" or heady... if you close your eyes it smells like something out of a gourmet bakery. It is SO comforting, creamy, yummy, and unlike any other vanillas I have tried!
  14. Candle Science - Sage and Pomegranate is the same as Millcreek Northern Red Currant ... and I never liked Sage and Pom when I got it, if I'd known I would have gotten another samples from MC. Too bad we can't exchange after sniffing LOL
  15. waaahaaahaaa!!! I WANT it to work so bad! LOL.. and same with me, I just got an order for pounds of melts in that scent. I did get a really nice HT using Cracklin' Birch in a 9 oz. straight side jar and a CD12 wick BUT it took TWO WEEKS! It was burning in the kitchen at back of the house, and you could smell it at the front of the house (about 1600-1700 sf home) This weekend I poured in same jar, this time I wicked up to a CD16. I have some HTP wicks to try next if I can't get a HT. On the original note, I truly desire - as a busy mom and business owner, I ultimately want to have stuff throw within 2-3 days. I don't want to have to wait any longer than that - especially in the time of demand!
  16. I too poured Cracklin Birch (hoping I can get it to throw better this time, last time it took 2 weeks cure in 415 ugh!) Also - Cranberry Marmalade Mediterranean Fig Caramel Cinnamon Latte
  17. I've recently switched suppliers that actually test their oils in the wax I use hoping I can get immediate throw. There is ONE FO that I love and my last tests it took 2 weeks to cure I just poured some more using 1.5 oz per lb. and I wicked up. It is Cracklin Birch from NG -- I am using 415. Anyone else know if this actually takes this much of a cure time or I must have messed up on the round one when I tried it the first time? Thanks!
  18. I do that Traveler, when they buy 1/2 lb. they get to choose 1 or 2 scents. If they buy a pound they get up to 4 scents. On my website and in my literature, I give them scent mix ideas with new "names" for example: Island Breeze + Vanilla = Island Smoothie Coffee House Caramel + Cocoa Honey Bee = Caramel Mochaccino make sense? It gets them "started" in their own mixing
  19. I personally make similar (I do not color mine at this time) I let my wax (soy) get very slushy, pour onto a sheet of wax paper, and with a plastic spatula, fold, whip, and chop. Then I end up with chunks of various sizes and sell by the 1/2 and 1 lb sizes with a scoop!
  20. YAY!!! Thanks for the feedback!! Here is what I ended up ordering: Apple Jack & Peel 001 Bergamot & Coriander 160 Berry Creme Burlee 052 Chestnuts & Brown Sugar 123 Christmas Eve 113 Extreme Vanilla 133 Freesia & Musk 110 Gourmet Sugar Cookie 021 High Cotton 124 Hillbilly Homebrew 112 Lilac Breeze 025 Magenta Nectar 103 Mango Papaya 053 Monkey Farts 084 Mulberry Wine 028 Musk 178 Red Current 118 Sex on the Beach/Fun in the Sun 032 Soothing Sandalwood 069 Ylang Ylang Ginger 177 Pomegranate Lick Me All Over Many of those were to replace similar oils that were not throwing well and some are new to try.. ... I am sure I will end up ordering more when I make my "pounds" order !!
  21. Thanks now I'm going to have to place another order!! LOL
  22. Thanks so much and DANG... I KNEW I should of ordered Cozy Home! I opted for Hillbilly Homebrew instead... I thought about Gain too but didn't... I went for Magenta Nectar instead of Sweet Orange Chili Pepper. I think I ordered like 22 samples LOL
  23. I have used it to take it off the date stamps on spaghetti and jelly jars that I use for sewing notions and cover with some pretty scrapbook paper Comes right off of those for me, so I would think it has to be the same deal. ???
  24. I always mess this up, I USUALLY end up with far more than I need but like other, I make tarts for me. I would LOVE to figure my math right for say 1 candle, 2, 4, 8 etc. LOL
