  1. I am in Northern Indiana after living in Tampa for 12 years. I feel like I am doing an entire upheaval of my business. My preference is an upscale, spa, Jo Malone type candle. In Tampa, all of my candles were white regardless of scent with a very chic look and always sold in large apothecary jars with more tropical, spa, fresh/clean, and glamorous scents. When I look around up here I see more country, rustic, jelly or mason jar style candles for sale. I definitely get more of a request for bakery scents that I couldn't giveaway in Tampa, for example blueberry. ??? That being said, I am struggling with finding my niche because I feel like I am now selling something that I wouldn't be drawn to buy but then again why should I care if it is what they like up here and what sells -- or should I be trying to meet in the middle. I guess I am stuck between 2 worlds lol. I was drawn to the either the jelly or straight side jar because I can at least still put my labeling on it and fancy ribbon, whereas the mason jars are pretty limited with labeling. Thank you candybee for the info with what sells for you, i am sure the original poster will love this info!
  2. Thanks guys... I fell into your rabbit hole, gave in and ordered 20 samples LOL. Will report the findings of the following in Joy Wax when I get them!! --- butterscotch bread pudding pumpkin pie gingerbread sugar cookie red velvet cake apple crumble swim summer margarita mcintosh apple maple sugar mediterranean fig champagne snow butt naked iced cranberry amish harvest mango papaya sugared lilac autumn evening carrot cake with icing english ivy
  3. so glad you started this thread, I will be stalking it ... I have been having the same dilemna about switching to 1 size with the economy. I was tied between the 8 oz jelly jar, but like the look of the 9 oz straight side jar better. Now to determine a price because I agree with you, there is more profit margin on the large candles esp. since the jars pretty much cost the same big or small it is only a small difference in the case price. Look forward to reading more about this!
  4. Thank you Candybee... I will probably just suck it up for now and pay the shipping until I can get price break, I am now at the retesting state. Not sure about the original poster though, this might work for her! (sorry to have hijacked your thread!!!
  5. Now that you mention that, I have seen the cubes at Dollar Tree. Can anyone tell me if they successfully SELL "non lidded" if that is a word LOL) candles? I always preferred to cover my candle back up so the fragrance doesn't escape when I'm not burning it but maybe I am just a weirdo and that doesn't really happen!
  6. Thank you! I will try to measure better and see what I end up with. Maybe I had it all wrong. Thanks again!
  7. I agree, I find I pay for the shipping but if i can find a cheap case price (in this case just over $5) I am good. If I order 10 cases, 120 lids with shipping I am paying about 96 cents per jar. I just WISH I could find a local wax and jar company but I am in Indiana and the ones here, I am not crazy about their wax. I am a bit nervous selling the smaller sizes since the jar price is about the same as the larger ones that I can sell for more BUT I am not selling the larger ones so I need to change something. jluper, let me know if you find another company that might have better shipping and I will do that same!
  8. yay you found it! I am in the process of changing my jars too so I just so happened to see those the other day. I had previously been selling candles in 16 oz apothecary and a whopping 32 oz straight side and they sold well 2 years ago. Last fall I hardly sold any so I am thinking with the economy that maybe I need offer smaller sizes for affordability. I am hoping that will earn more sales this fall.
  9. google Filmore and they have a "STRAIGHT SIDE" jar with several twist on lid options, I bet that's it!
  10. Hello! I was wondering if anyone has tried creating burning oils like the ones you can get at B&BW. I have tried several ways since I can't seem to get my tarts to last. The type of burner I have is a candle warmer with a ceramic bowl on top but I have also tried the ones with a tealight under as well. 1. I tried the oils straight and at first it was WONDERFUL then the oil got too hot and the oil smoked. 2. Someone suggested I put a drop of Olive Oil in with the oils to stop the smoking. That worked but as the oil got hotter, the scent distorts ( no matter the scent ) to an almost plasticy smell. 3. I tried adding DPG... that just weakened the scent and after about an hour you smelled nothing. 4. I tried putting water in the the warmer, a drop or two on the water which does GREAT .. BUT if you let the water evaporate/boil down then the oil remains and you are left with #1 & #2 issues. I use to LOVE just burning those B&BW oils because it only took a few drops but I can't get it to work at home with my own. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance!
  11. newbie to the board here.... I switched from 6006 to CB Advanced because of cost and I really really regret it! I come across this thread to when reading other threads to talk myself back into the cost of switching back to 6006 and may I ask what is the ratio of CO you put in your wax and what is the benefit. I have all of my candle stuff sitting now for 6 months after some discouragement (but mostly because we moved lol) and I want to get them going again for fall but I want something consistent. What are your preferred wicks then? My friend uses 6006 and swears by Simply Soy wicks from WSP. Thank you in advance!
