  1. A big fat thanks for posting this and further enable my addiction -- I need another FO company like a need another hole in my head LOL... the names of those sound wonderful and your description of great throw is intriguing me. I think I must go to a happy place and try to restrain!!
  2. To be fair, I thought maybe it was because I was just looking at those - as they are new scents. But I looked a varying non-dupe scents and they ranged from 27-48 per lb. I can't make a profit on that! If it is a REALLY good scent, i will pay up to $25 but I am very selective what I will offer it in so that I can get a decent margin out of it.
  3. I am not going to slam any company by name, as this isn't really a slam but a genuine curiosity. There is a company that sells FOs and have some dupes that others do not have. However, their lb. price is between $36-$44 !! There are 2 FOs I would love to have in my line and that is BBW Island Margarita and Peach Bellini (no one else carries these two) I have personally tried this company's Vanilla Noir and OOB it smells AMAZING even though it was over $8 for 2 oz., but as soon as it hit my skin, it smelled like pepper and vanilla so I never used it. I am just wondering if anyone can expect to make any money with the rising cost of wax and buying oils from them. Or are they really worth it and I just don't get it! I guess what I am asking is why are their oils almost double than other companies?
  4. No you can't fault anyone for wanting to do their VERY best!! Even if it results in many UPS deliveries, weekends in the "lab" aka what use to be the kitchen where meals use to be cooked LOL .... at the end of the day you are achieving he he.
  5. I can not answer this, I am overachiever LOL... I need to pare down myself!!
  6. Wow everyone thanks! Now it's going to be tough to decide upon 10 LOL... looks like my sample list just doubled. I really hated to add another pumpkin but I can't help it!! I currently use Pumpkin Souffle CS but I always like to have another. The frosted one sounds great. Someone else mentioned Caribbean Salsa, ok sign me up! I'm headed off to order now.. I am making small portion cup sniffies for some parties. So this is the time for me to do it! Thank you all. I'd say keep em coming but I'm unable to resist buying them LOL!!
  7. I started some pouring yesterday as I am making up tart cups to give to a few ladies that work in large facilities that want to do a "party" by selling to co-workers in exchange for candles. I poured some of the scents into Nature Wax C-3 - it was a sample box from Filmore and figured it would be ok for sniffie purposes only, again poured into portion cups. I do realized some of these may need more cure time, so I will report any changes in a week but here is what I have so far: Sugar Cookie - smells like just about every other sugar cookie i've smelled and it's CT is strong so I'm sure it will sell. I have never been a sugar cookie fan myself because it always smells chemical to me but that is just IMO. Gingerbread Cookie - very spicy, less cookie. lots of ginger. good CT Iced Cranberry - excellent CT, I loved this one! really delicious! Butterscotch Bread Pudding - I smell more butterscotch than anything and hoped for a little more bread pudding in there. It does smell yummy though maybe a dash of some other bakery scent would round it out more? Excellent CT Apple Crumble - definitely smell apple waiting for the crust to appear but excellent CT Red Velvet Cake - you can really smell the chocolate on this one, excellent CT will report when it "blooms" into more Butt Naked - I have never smelled this from another company but OOB it smelled fruity but in wax it now smells more like what your skin would smell like after putting tanning lotion on it and laying in sun for a bit. It's nice though, reminded me of being poolside or at the beach. Strong CT. I will let you know when I pour the other and also how these ones smell in a week!
  8. Thanks Funky, I look forward to hearing about them when you get the right ones. I have been wondering about that Citrus Linen H2O... does it throw well in soy? So far on my list of samples I want to try -- which is purely from reviews off of their forum and/or listed best sellers are: gain apple mango tango - supposedly a dead do on dupe funky monkey (no pun intended funkymonkey66!!) vanilla buttercream crunch, i read on here someone loved it. So-Cal -- supposed to smell just like the Hollister store Autumn Wreath Leather Vanilla Country Charm Christmas Magic.... anyone tried any of these?
  9. Oh goodness, I just looked at the header of my post I meant from the company "Just Scent" LOL but thanks for the Lone Star must haves, I haven't tried their company yet either!
  10. Hi there. I haven't ordered from "Just Scent" in awhile and wanted to swoop up 10 samples or so and wanted to know what are good sellers for those that use their oils. I have tried some in the past, and have found them to be hit or miss. I do currently still use Coconut Milk and Lavendar which I love! Wondered what ones might have been a HIT for you, specifically in soy. Thanks in advance!
  11. he he... I was just going to say that! Could be marketed as a budoir candle?
  12. the only one I have is: Coconut Milk & Lavendar -- smells JUST LIKE the downy vanilla lavendar fabric softener but creamier. It is a nice everyday fragrance in your warmer -- like clean and cozy.
  13. I love how "stocky" these are but I so prefer black lids. I am not loving gold these days!
  14. Yes that does help Steve, thank you and I appreciate it! I am at a point right now where I want to keep my costs down while I rebuild my business (I moved from FL to IN was on hiatus and now starting over). I have been trying to find a happy medium, with functional easy wicking jars and still have nice unique packaging. The "look" can make the sale. Sigh... I'm not sure I actually get anywhere, as I just keep debating with myself! LOL
  15. Thank you both so much! I guess I got sucked in by the marketing ploys of the high end sellers with their fancy boxes (that probably get tossed) and no lids LOL :rolleyes2 What you say Steve makes perfect sense. I guess it is part of the whole experience to a customer of "unleashing" the scent for each candle and tucking it away again. Regarding the lug lids vs screw on. Aren't the lug lids sort of a twist on right? I have been eyeing salsa jars so I am glad you said that. I previously sold only apothecary jars but as you said -- easy wicking is important and well, not so much with apothecary jars for me! Thanks again!
  16. Stella thank you! Also thank you for the other straight side jar links!
  17. Do you find that your customers prefer/more likely to purchase candles with or without lids? I ask because it seems the higher end candles come in a box and the jar has no lid. But then in stores candles are sold with lids. I am trying to put my dollar to the most use packaging use and I like the look of a plain jar, no lid, in a box with a ribbon BUT if customers have an aversion to not having a lid I would rethink this. If I went no lid, would you recommend some other sort of cover other than the box or I'm good? Thanks for any tips!!
  18. OH my gosh is your line GORGEOUS! I like the simple classic look you have, great job! Very elegant. I am "restarting" my candle venture and on a new journey myself so I will probably have lots of questions for everyone Thanks for sharing with us!
  19. I got my oils yesterday (pretty fast shipping!) OOB there are only a few I don't like but I can't judge them until I get them in wax. I will say that Maple and Brown Sugar smells amazing on the skin! I accidentally spilled some on my hand and it's so sweet, warm, and 'vanilla-ey' that I really want to throw it in some lotion!! Can't wait to make a candle out of it!
  20. I had one other question, does mixing the CBA with 415 throw better than mixing with paraffin? I read somewhere that CBA does well with 50/50 paraffin but obviously that is more costly.
  21. I wouldn't call the actual J.Lo Glow real clean, I mean it is clean but it has a musky and sweet undertone to it. I would say it is more sweet than clean if that helps.
  22. Being an expert photoshop user, those labels could be designed in a graphics program from home and printed on cardstock then cut out by hand. ... if someone were patient enough to do that! Me, not so patient! They are darling though!!
  23. I have a 50 lb box of CBA Advanced that I thought was going to be wonderful from description on CS site. I put some FO in it and the hot throw was TERRIBLE. I was going to throw it out as I thought it was junk wax but then I saw this post. I would have NEVER thought to add more SOY! I seriously need to increase the throw of this wax if I can and salvage the box. May I ask to every 1 lb. of CBA, how much 415 would you add? Thank you!
  24. Thank you Chuck. I have never heard of Clarus waxes. Would you then say that any soy will work with the 6006? And might I ask why you would add more soy to the 6006? Just curious what it does for end product. Thanks for the wicking tip!
