  1. Do you have pouring pots? And the paper towel - No self-respecting chandler would be caught dead without an adequate supply!!!! But I assume you know that.......
  2. WOW I had no idea!!!! Oh well, one more thing to worry about when making candles.... I assume, by following those links you provided, that they do not burn very well and have to be melted down?
  3. Well, I don't now if there are any do's and don'ts for FO mixing, but I do it all the time..... Sometimes things just belong together. I mixed strawberry/vanilla, which smells just like strawberry icecream; and vanilla/lemon pound cake/fresh baked pie crust, which smells just like a lemon meringue pie Oh, and I love coffee and vanilla - mmmmm latte's........
  4. Am I missing something? Do you have embeds in your candle, or is it mottling that way????
  5. I think it's beautiful. Love the combination of blues, and I love the rustic effect, and considering you make the most of what you have, I'd say BRAVO
  6. Donita, Maybe you wouldn't mind posting your thoughts/suggestions on the above problem so that we can all see. I intend to try the crackling technique sometime this week, and I'd appreciate knowing all the "tips" just in case I also run into the above problem. I'm also going to be using 4625...... Thanx
  7. I buy mine at Michaels - It's a Yaley's product, and I think I pay around $2 for 2.
  8. Okay Jokerjen, this has got to stop.......... How many times can a person go to Dairy Queen in one day?!?!?!?!?
  9. Those are beautiful!!! And yes, it does take a whole bunch of time to do the layers, but I really enjoy the anticipation of waiting to see how they're going to turn out.
  10. It's a spiritual thing for me. Since ancient times it has been considered very auspicious to light candles when you want to send your thoughts and prayers out to the Universe. It's very mystical, and even more so when you make them yourself.....
  11. I've heard it can get quite stinky down there, what with all the sulfur and brimstone........
  12. I've used this - and continue to do so - in paraffin pillars, and I love the scent! I gave a couple of votives to a friend, and she's asked for more..... I will say that OOB it's not very pleasing, but have found that it really wakes up in the wax. But then again, I think scent is very subjective. Some people rave about certain scents, and others think they're awful! Let us know what you decide on and how you enjoy it......
  13. Can anyone tell me if this blend needs a repour? If so, how many. I really like my votives to have a neat top, and repours always tend to look so messy. Anyone have any suggestions?
  14. OH MY GOSH - I AM SUCH A DUFUS:p All I can say is thank goodness I have a husband who is a computer guru. The problem I've been having, is because my options for Default Thread Age Cut-off were set on the forum default, which obviously only sees threads from the last month, I'd guess. When we change the option to Show All Threads - THERE THEY WERE!!!!!! Thanks to everyone for trying to help. Sometime a dufus is just that - a dufus.......
  15. Thank you Donita, but that's not what I'm looking for. You used to be able to click on Candlemaking under the Tips and FAQ database section, and access a whole bunch of questions that someone new to candlemaking might ask. I found this one there for example: "Hugging" a candle? Yes, I know the answer to that one, but only because I saw it in that section. There were a bunch of other questions just like that, and I was in the process of making notes about them, and now they're gone. If you look here: http://www.candletech.com/forums/search.php?searchid=5016 You will see that the hugging question was in the Candlemaking forum. Where is it now is what I'm trying to find out.......
  16. Well, I registered on "that website", and logged in, and the message board is exactly the same as this one. The only topic under Tips and FAQ are gel wax, container candles, and dyes. I don't use gel wax, I don't make container candles, and my questions are not about dyes. I'm looking for all the info on waxes, wicks, and general information on candlemaking. It was there last week because I started to copy some of the hints and tips into my notebook. I went back there yesterday, and gel wax, container candles, and dyes were the only topics remaining......
  17. That doesn't work. It asks for my username, then when I type it in, is says: Username does not exist. It must be from the old site of which I was not a member.
  18. Love that "swirl" effect you've got going there. Very pretty!
  19. That the one I'm talking about...... but all the other headings are missing! Those tips and FAQ's are only about gel wax, container candles, and dyes. What about pillars, and wicks, and all those other things not pertaining to the above. I used to go to that section to learn more about candlemaking. That's where I found out about wickpins. There is nothing there about making votives, pillars, tarts?!?!?!? There used to be a whole bunch of topics written by "The Mod Team" giving hints and tips on all types of topic. That is what I'm looking for......
  20. Can anyone tell me what happened to all the topics under Tips and FAQ's for candlemaking. I went in there just now to look for some information on wicks for pillars, and everything is gone! There is only information on gel wax, container candles, and dyes..... There always used to be such good info. WHERE AM I GOING TO GO NOW FOR HELP?????
  21. BRAVO - Those green rustics are fabulous. What an inspiration...... You do realize I'm now going to have to go and make more candles!!!! Where am I going to put them all?????
  22. Loved this scent so decided to give it a try yesterday. I'm very happy with the way these turned out, and the smell just makes me hungry.......
  23. I spilled some wax on my silestone countertops, and used the paper towel/iron method. I just made sure to scrape up as much as I could, then laid out paper towel, covered with newspaper, then ironed it all up. I've also found that orange cleaner stuff to be pretty effective in cleaning up the residue. Good luck
