  1. That's terrible! Not a good way to do business..... and packing the wax without a plastic sleeve?!?!?!? Sorry you had that experience with them. I was happy when I received my order, but if my memory serves me correctly, the additives I ordered came in zipper bags, and the contents were marked with a black marker that had smudged quite badly. I only knew what it was based on other stuff I had here at home.
  2. OMG You people have just scared the crap out of me!!!!!! I store my FO's in the laundry room in a shelf above my washer and dryer - gets kinda warm in there. As I'm reading these posts about flashpoint, it suddenly dawned on me........ YIKES!!!!!! .......off to find a new storage spot.......
  3. I just bought a straight peach from CandleScience, and it is so awesome. Reminds me of a peach lipgloss I had as a teenager, and we all know why us girls used to wear lipgloss......
  4. Funny this should come up...... I bought a bunch of FO's from another forum member, and Peaks Genuine Leather was among them, and the first thing I thought when I took a whiff, was "new car" scent. Many years ago when we first arrived in this country, my husband and I bought an old Audi that stank so bad inside. We went to our local KMart and bought a "new car" scented air freshener, hoping that it would help! Now, for the life of me, I cannot smell that scent without remembering how that car stank, and how far we've come in the last 15 years. Personally, I don't like the scent. I've never had a new car that smelled like that....
  5. Rustic, and pink, and flowers...... PERFECT!!
  6. Welcome!! Looking forward to your "experienced" input. :smiley2:
  7. I tried to make the experiment as equal as possible, so I cooled them both down in the same way. On my countertop, in the same place, at the same time of day... Go figure???? I was so excited at how the green turned out. I just used the color diamonds. One bright green, and one yellow!
  8. OMG Those are gorgeous!!!!! Now there's something else I've got to try. Thanks - I'm going to search the archives for those "frosting" instructions.....
  9. Same as cellophane wrap.... The plastic wrap that they put around things that you buy.
  10. Same wax from the same slab of 1274, same stearic, both FO's from Peaks...... Weird huh?!?!
  11. ....not allowing myself to get discouraged, I try again. This time I use the same wax, 1 Tbsp stearic, and I make up 1 oz of FO mixing Peaks Key Lime and Fresh Baked Pie Crust. And this is what I get....... When I saw this baby come out of the mold, I let out an almighty WHOOPEE!!!!!!! Just the mottle I've been looking for. Don't know what the difference is between the two, but oh well, at least this one mottled.....
  12. Okay, so I don't know if you all remember that I was having problems getting my 1274 to mottle. Eventually we figured out that I wasn't using enough FO. So I try again.... New wax, this time I add 1 Tbsp Stearic, and 1oz Peak's German Chocolate Cake FO. This is what I get.........
  13. LOL - I'm sorry Jill, I don't mean to make light of your "smell" problems, but I was just talking to my daughter about this very thing today. When I was pregnant with her, I couldn't go anywhere near the kitchen as everything had a weird smell, heck, even made my hubby sleep in the spare bedroom for a week or two because he smelled funny!!! Anyway... He insisted on eating those frozen burritos that you buy in the grocery store, and to this day (my daughter is 12) I cannot smell those things without feeling a wave of nausea!!!! My smell issues passed at 11 weeks, hope you get over yours soon.....
  14. Thank you Donita! I'm probably going to have to print that out, and sit down and try translate it into english?!?!?
  15. Okay - I'll confess......:rolleyes2 When I started making candles a month or two back, that was exactly my impression of candlemaking - melt wax, stick a wick into a mold, pour wax.... The past few weeks have been a wonderful journey, and a journey at that. There is so much to learn, and I still constantly find things in this forum that I don't know about. Today it was fingernailing....... I admire all of you that do this for a living. It's a long process to find what works and what doesn't.
  16. Okay, "sigh" :rolleyes2 .... so what's a grubby???? It seems like everyday I discover something new about this candlemaking stuff........
  17. Let us know how it turns out - sounds like a good combo to me......
  18. Oh Geez...... As if being addicted to candlemaking is not enough, you guys are getting me all curious about making tarts!!!!!
  19. Yeah, I thought it was actually quite attractive! (Shows what I know....) I would keep them if mine had to come out like that, I was just unsure as to whether it was safe to burn.
