  1. OKAY - NOW I AM MAD I have spent all afternoon, and 3 candles, trying to get this crackle thing to work, and NOTHING.... all I have is 3 very skinny candles. I dipped my candles in 200 degree water for a few seconds, did it again, then plunged it into very icy water...... NOTHING! Donita - What am I doing wrong???????
  2. Mary, it seems you and I are of like mind. I am busy preparing to make black and white licorice scented candles tomorrow!! Sure hope mine look half as good as yours..........
  3. OH MY GOSH - This is the funniest thread...... You guys obviously haven't visited a Walmart in North Carolina
  4. For that cranberry color, you would need red, and a hint of brown.
  5. Thanks for bringing this up Henry, I've been wondering about the same thing. Sometimes I don't want the even, consistent mottling. I want it to have more "blobs" of mottle if you know what I mean.......
  6. Thanks Top. I'm going to give it a bash and see how it works. Isn't that what it's all about - experimentation?!?!?
  7. Those candles look amazing..... I can't imagine that they looked bad before! I have a few candles that were destined for the "pot", but now I'm really leaning towards crackling them. Your candles have inspired me!!!!!
  8. Those are gorgeous, and I bet they smell as good as they look. Love the combo, and I think they're great for fall.
  9. Is it possible to "rustic" 1274 wax, or does it have to be poured at the same temp in order to ensure a mottle effect?
  10. My sentiments exactly! Well done Donita, those candles ROCK!!!!!
  11. Those are exquisite, as always!! Love the pyramid... I've got to try that one of these days.
  12. These really got my digestive juices going. THEY SMELL SO GOOD......
  13. Those pies are great, and I love the half and half - how do you do that???? But Bruce........ that face is scary!!!!!!
  14. What??? Pillars have a memory??? Can someone please explain this to me.....
  15. I also have corners when I burn my 3x3 square. I'm using 30 flat waxed. Is what you're saying that the melt pool should also form the same way as a round candle, and not leave the corners? That would be something......
  16. I get it!!!!!!!!! But now, how you do know what wick will get the "milk up the straw" better - so to speak?????
  17. Oh I have to agree with you. This wicking business is just TOO CONFUSING!!!!! I may be in the minority, but I make only pillars, most 3" rounds, but also 3" square and 4" ball. I only use 30 ply flat waxed. So far (touch wood), I've had great burns, but maybe there is something I'm missing, and don't know about. And where I come from the saying goes: "Ignorance is Bliss"........ (gotta love that smiley!!!!)
  18. Thanks! Yes those are great threads.... Fortunately, my bulge was not quite as bad, and I've been hugging periodically when I see it start to bulge out. I tend to burn my candles a lot - maybe 5 hours at a time. I'm thinking that maybe I should rotate them a little and only burn 2 or 3 hours at a time. I'm using 4625, but perhaps next time I order I'll try the 1343 with the additives recommended.
  19. What causes candle bulge, and how do you prevent it? Hugging????
  20. Thank you! I think this is a great section, and helps to narrow things down a little when looking through the forum for something in particular. Now maybe we should have the same for waxes........
