I am going to try Prairieannie's M&P recipe. Does anyone have an opinion with the Soaper Choice/Columbus Foods melt and pour glycerin white base? I see EBC mentioned a lot. Between shipping and price, I can save a lot if I go with Soapers Choice but if it is yucky, I'l pay the extra for EBC. I'm thinking the recipe is what makes this soap special and wonderful more so than the base but what do I know? I'm a noob at soap.

Thank you, Laura. I think you're right about bubbles. I've bought many from etsy sellers over the years and none really bubble but they do kind of lather. For me, it makes the scrub a bit more slippery and less scratchy. I don't like my body scrubs super scrubbie. I'll take a look at NG. I refuse to buy from WSP with their crazy pricing.

If you are genuinely torn, meaning they are pretty darn equal in performance, I would buy the least expensive.

I would like to add my own scrubbies, FO and color, only looking for the base. Or is there a site you recommend for recipes?

This is all very interesting. I thought dipping meant a quick dunk, giving the item a coating. It sounds, though, from the thread, that dipping really means soaking. The wax absorbs into the stuffed animal? About how long do you keep it submerged? Until air bubble stop? The toilet paper really has be confused. For sure, I thought that was just a coating of wax but again, sound like you soak it. How deep does the wax penetrate? Is the squeezing of the stuffed animal to get the internally absorbed wax to get evenly distributed or is it simply that too much wax gets absorbed and therefore wasted?

I find that going to etsy.com is always a good way to take a measure of the competition and what they are charging as well as seeing trends develop, etc. I find that regardless of wax product, container candle, scallop tarts, clamshells, etc, the going rate is about $1 per ounce and often a tad less for container candles. There is another loose rule about pricing at three times your cost. Remember, cost is all raw and disposable materials including dye, labels, ink, packing materials, boxes plus your wax, wicks, dye, container. and what all the shipping costs are for the supplies to reach you. In the beginning, I think it is easier to check out etsy!

I would say you need to look for a Peppermint Patty scent, Nature's Garden makes a good Peppermint Patty. Both the dark chocolate and mint come through. For the marshmallow, you most likely will need to add a bit of a fireplace note. KY toasted marshmallow is sweet like marshmallow, no other notes. It does not smell like the BBW at all.

I have this issue with a handful of scents. It is baffling. I could change vendors but the HT and accuracy of scent are so outstanding, I'd rather give up the CT. I have a sheet of labels made up that I adhere to the packing slip which explains: "Don't worry! The XYZ tart has no cold throw but we promise it will fill the room when you melt it!" If you only sell in person and everyone sniffs before buying, that is a problem.

I wish I could remember but I though too much something, maybe Vybar, will cause waves. Does 4794A contain additives. Maybe they added too much of whatever it is I'm thinking of.

I'm staring to see really big clamshell packages, 6 cubes, but between 5 to 6 ounces in wax weight. Any idea who carries that packaging?

Everyone's done a great job of explaining. My question is why are you using essential oils instead of fragrance oils? Much harder to get decent throw from essential oils and it is very expensive. It's not as simple as "adding more" oil because the wax won't hold more oil. For example, a sponge can hold only so much water. The wax will weep out the oil and you'll have oils spots all over your tart and in your molds.

This $59 Canon has separate ink tanks/cartridges and you only replace the color you need. It really is an amazing price.

Hi! Hoping Eric sees this thread. I think we will be investing in a new printer to start off 2012. If you have any advice, would appreciate it. The printer will be used 90% of the time for printing labels on kraft paper labels. Color and black and white. Speed is not an issue, replacement cost of cartridges is a consideration as well as crispness of color/photos. You mentioned a lower priced Brother without bells and whistles. Can you let me know what that is? Also, I don't need an "all in one" but if the deal is good, I don't mind although I'll never use the other functions. I think I don't care if it is inkjet or laser, do I? The brown kraft labels from onlinelabels.com print on both. Thanks!
