  1. They are among top performers and the scents are great. Haven't really tried her newer bakery scents.
  2. They were the focus of a huge product recall in 2008. I wonder if it did them in. The company name was QSL and headquartered in Dracut, MA. http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml08/08255.html
  3. I sell it straight and mixed with other scents.
  4. I like pillars that have the mottled effect and my favorite color is a dark barn red or a deep burnt orange. I like herbal or spa scents the best.
  5. Count me among those who stopped ordering from her. I found replacements for all the FOs I used to buy from WSP.
  6. Will you only be selling locally? Since I'm not from that area, none of these have meaning to me but to locals, they could be great names. If I had to pick one, I do very much like Canyon Creek.
  7. JKL is 20 watts? I thought they were all 12 watts. I'll have to call the company again and check. I called about a year ago and they said they were all 12 watts. Never bought from them because of that.
  8. Perhaps I'm missing something but I don't see a problem with two sites. It's not that much more work once it is up and running.
  9. Hi! What a very, very nice post! You took so much time and thought and wonderful of you to share and "pay it forward" so to speak. Lots of people, will no doubt, appreciate your reviews. I don't use C3 plus I don't make candles. I wish I could help and hope you get plenty of replies with the recommendations you are looking for.
  10. KY is a great wax and seems like you're using 8% FO load which should be fine for most oils. I completely agree that you need to add oil at 185 degrees. Stir for at least one minute after you add the oil to the wax. I make my own wax blend and my pouring temp is not important since I don't get a dip at all on the tops. Years and years ago I used KY and as I recall, it also does not get much of dip. With tarts/clamshells, pouring temp has to do with the way the tops look, not the scent throw. You might want to try 9% which would be 1 oz oil to 8 oz of wax, total of 9 oz and/or heating wax to 185. Who are some of you FO suppliers?
  11. I don't care if they are prorprietary, that wasn't my quesiton. Duh. Of course many of them are proprietary, no big revelation! I asked the question because it does matter to me. Glad it doesn't matter to you, nice of you to share, as usual.
  12. Have you asked your new and growing customer? Adding shipping into the price of the candle is fine if their customer only orders one. But if they order multiples, they are now overpaying. I'm a little confused about the mechanics of this. Is this/your one candle the only item for sale on the site? What if a customer wants to buy other items on the site? Is everything shipped from different wholesalers like yourself? Will customers have multiple PayPal purchases? I know this is not your site but this can be a problematic for this new and growing business but ultimately, it could effect you. If I were a customer, I'd be a bit confused and frustrated that if I buy a candle, it is a different transaction than everything else on the site.
  13. Thanks, I haven't gotten on that bandwagon yet but I've been tempted. I'll give Luis a call.
  14. Did a farmers market this morning but a downpour closed us early. Once again, I had quite a few who asked about a scent like Bath and Body Works Slatkin Leaves. Does anyone carry this type or anyone have ideas for a formula? "Golden nectar, juicy mandarin and red delicious apple are paired with toasted cinnamon stick, mulled cider spices and freshly harvested red berries."
  15. The melt point of most waxes used for tarts is usually 125 to 130. Some a little higher, some a little lower but ouch. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think sitting in a car during rush hour traffic is a bit more challenging on the body than a scented wax tart.
  16. Do you think the Natures Gardens and Aroma Havens and Candle Sciences of the world order from these or foreign suppliers? Are there any other big domestic FO manufacturers?
  17. I think the Vanilla wave is over. Customers have moved on. Carry more variations of what is selling instead.
  18. I carry an average of 300 scents (make tarts). I have an alphabetical list and also by category. I work very hard on my scent descriptions since the customer can't actually sniff. I try to use common terms that most non-chandlers understand, relating to every day life or scents or memories.
  19. Thanks, Stella. I didn't even think about the OT section as I never go there and this seemed the next most logical place. Interesting post by Alan. Maybe that is the section he should have closed. Plenty of other places on the internet for off topic forums and boards. In any event, I'm happy Craftserver is back.
  20. I'm thrilled craftserver is back up but what was the message from Alan the other day about no time for Craftserver and no one to moderate it. Two days, later and it's back up. Does this mean it will be unmoderated? Did someone "buy" it from him? I know some of you seem to know him, wondering if you have info.
  21. Between Aztec and Bitter Creek North, the Aztec is the better of the two. I agree, I'm not in love with Aztec but it's better than BCN. I'll have to try the one from Fillmore.
  22. Thanks. I do carry electric melters now and always list wattage which is another reason the Jackel concerned me. If I was a customer saw that they were only 12 watts and all the others were 18 to 35 watts, not sure I'd select the 12 watt. I don't sell any tea light melters. Maybe I should. They are cute and a great price at Jackel.
