We use the liquid dye from Alabaster and from Aroma Haven and no chemical smell in our tarts. We use 2 to 8 drops per pound of wax.

This is a great group that posts on here and I want to sincerely thank you. Very giving and sharing and glad I'm not crazy and you all feel the same about Miami Erie. All very excellent, supportive posts and great input for all of us. I also refuse to fun sales every week. I know that is how I sometimes feel about shopping at Kohls, which I love, but I do wait to see if the sale is better next week! I am trying to expand my line into non-bakery scents, too. Hard to buy FOs that I personally don't like. I need to find testers that like the woods and earthy scents. I'm learning to like the laundry scents - why anyone would want to be reminded of doing laundry is beyond me but if they want it, I'll make it! I have now bought several real fabric softeners so I could compare the real deal to the oils. Shaking my head at myself! Thank very much, everyone.

I know we all have to set our own price levels, profit margins, business plans but I'm hearing more and more requests for Free Shipping deals from customers. I'm in the tart business and there are a few well known names that offer Free Shipping all the time. One of them is the retail website arm of Miami Erie so easy enough for them since all supplies are less than wholesale for them. I only sell tarts and hard enough to make a profit on an item that is only $1 or $2. I do offer free shiping on orders over $50 and it drastically cuts in to profit but have to do it to be competitive. I'm wondering how you are dealing with it? I KNOW I put out a high quality tart but in this economy, price is an issue for all of us - as business owners and as consumers ourselves.

I could order samples but this board is always so giving with great advice and just trying to save money. I've spent a small fortune on samples lately. I use a soy paraffin blend for tarts. How are their oils? If you found them weak in wax, how much did you use per pound? I know recommended is 1.0 to 1.5 oz per lb but I always use more. The Soap Scent review board has mostly positive reviews about the scent strength of Just Scent oils and I have found that if scent "sticks" in CP soap after a long cure, it usually does well in wax. I have ordered from Brighter Scents twice in the last three months and both experiences were very good. From the day I placed the order to the day UPS delivered was two weeks, both orders, which is much long than most of my other suppliers but I had read they take longer and was prepared. Hard to put a number on it but I would say 70% of the oils are very good that I ordered. They had a 50% off their fragrance oils a few weeks ago and I ordered about 40 1 oz samples and the time before that I think I ordered about 15 1 oz samples. I will say that I did send them an email about something and they never responded but it was not a critical question. I've never heard of JD Candle Supply, sorry.

Lone Star Candle has it, too, but it is not body safe. Here is the description: Flowerstall with roses, magnolia, gardenia, tuberose, and arris blossom.

I've never ordered from them. How is their quality in general? Must be good if you're tempted to order new scents! Can you compare their quality to any other FO suppliers?

I've never tried a plain pound cake. I really like the Lemon Pound Cake from KY but the Lemon Pound Cake is on my Peaks wish list as I've read some very good reviews on it. Good luck on your search.

@Iwantgreen. They kind of make a point on the Bittercreek South that they are not the same fragrance oils as Bittercreek North. They do say they are sister companies and each promotes the other on their own site and share a message board. I just wonder what the difference is in quality of fragrance oils. Bitter Creek South says, "These are not the same oils as BC North. Some are the original Sissie's oils and some are all new BC South oils." I'm wondering if BC South was "born" by buying out Sissie's, whoever that is!

Do you prefer one over the other? Do you have 'hits or misses' from either? If I ordered the same scent from both, and you were a betting kind of person, which do you think would perform better in tarts?

I use it parasoy tarts and it throws great. Have never tried it in any other wax

I ordered one from Alabaster and it was horrible. More like grass that had been rotting in a compost pile for 2 weeks. If my lawn smelled like that, well, I would have to abandon the house! Can anyone recommend a true smelling fresh cut grass FO? Thanks (will use it in tarts)

I know you like the utilitarian look of these pads (looks like carpet padding to me, too) to appeal to men in Barber Shops but there are places to buy air freshener templates and they do come in "ordinary" shapes. You use a craft paint brush, brush on straight fragrance oil, put a string/ribbon/jute through the hole. Just like those freshener trees they sell everywhere for cars so not sure how the market would be except your edge is offering different fragrances as compared to those you buy in the auto section at Target. (I'm guessing men aren't spending too much time at Yankee Candle shops as they carry these fresheners in many, many of their scents).
