  1. I know I saw it and I think I remember quite a few cowboy themed scents on the site. It's making me crazy not to remember.
  2. Thanks I tried Fragrance Oil Finder and tried googling a few different ways but nothing came up in terms of suppliers, only sites that sell finished products in this scent.
  3. That is really good. What scent is it? Did you start with your own favorite? I will always remember our first test tart was Lime Kisses from Elements. I love citrus scents.
  4. Sounds very good. We sell various sizes and shapes of tarts. When we test, we test a fluted or scallop tart that weighs a little over an ounce. We let them cure three full days. If weak, we let cure another 4 days which makes a full week. If still not good, we toss and start over again with a new supplier's FO in that scent.
  5. We just poured both of these this morning for our tarts! We had never done them in parasoy, so this will be all soy. Can't wait for them to cure. I've NEVER been to the ocean so I have no idea what salty ocean air actually smells like. I guess I'm about to find out! I kept sniffing and thinking I don't smell salt but then again, what the heck does salt smell like, anyway? I even sniffed my box of salt to try to figure it out.
  6. I am slighty concerned and at the same time happy that BHG tarts are good. I have been reading very, very good reviews on various candle and bath and body forums that my customers (and yours, too!) post on. I hope that, if anything, it will continue to open the eyes of the consumer to the world of scented wax tarts. This could help with craft fair sales and then build my internet client base for future sales. I have almost 300 scents I offer and I know that BHG will not get that large. Plus, my clamshells are only $3 so I'm not way off on price. But all the reviews I've read have been very good and the melters are darn cute, too, and a great price.
  7. No, I'm just plain curious and wonder just how bad it is. I started making all soy and so far they are all equal to the parasoy blend in throw and I bought my oils never looking at a soy rating. I wonder if I would notice. I don't know about CB135 as that is not one I'm using. And I've never used all paraffin. Maybe that is why I'm not noticing a difference, because I'm going from parasoy to soy rather than paraffin to soy.
  8. I have been testing my own blend of soy, all soy, GW 464 and Ecoysoya PB. I have been using a paraffin and soy blend. So far, all my oils have made the translation (form para soy to all soy) just fine, no difference in hot or cold throw. I want to experience one that does not make the leap from parasoy to soy. Is there one that was a dud for you (if you made the jump from parasoy to all soy)? I would actually like to experience a bad experience (poor CT and HT in soy but great CT and HT in parasoy), if that makes sense.
  9. I'm planning to order from Bert's. My notes say that the Creme Brulee and Coconut are good. Anyone try the Strawberry? Chamomile?
  10. I have Crispy Doughnut from Millcreek Soy and Glazed Doughnuts form KY but have not tested either yet. Out of the box, not sure, seem weak and I don't pick up that "fried in oil" note a real donut has. I also have Cinnamon Donuts from Nature's Garden. Again, have not tested yet. It has the cinnamon note so may not work for a cruller but it does seem to have that "fried oil" note. I wonder if a Funnel Cake oil would be better so that is my next hunt.
  11. I recall Fun Dip coming in flavors and it is still sold. Sorry, can't help with the oil.
  12. Complex and upscale makes me think of Moonworks but they have a very limited selection. Small but mighty.
  13. I expect my tarts to throw scent for at least 8 hours. I have many that will throw more than 20 hours. In my opinion, it is very scent dependent more so than supplier dependent as to how long a tart will to last or how large a room it should fill. I can't get a sugar cookie to throw more than 8 hours and I've tried at least 10 different suppliers and wax combos. On the other hand rose seems to throw forever, although no one orders it, and my laundry detergent type scents also throw for a couple of days and fill an entire 3500 sq foot two story house with a rather open floor plan. Again, doesn't matter of the supplier, they just throw and throw in some scents.
  14. Fragrance suppliers that have two "levels" of oils confuse me. Doesn't everyone want FO that throws well in wax or B&B? Or am I wrong? I realize not all scents are meant to be strong and burn your nose but I don't understand carrying two classes of oils.
  15. Steve, have you tried a 40 watt bulb in it? Lots of people up the Scentsy warmers to 40 watts so they will burn all kinds of tarts.
  16. I read a review on one of the candle forums that said this one did not melt tarts very well, I think maybe all the open work doesn't allow it to get hot enough. Maybe increasing the bulb wattage would help. I love that one, too. I don't have personal experience with it, just what I read on a board.
  17. Good to know! Thanks for sharing!
  18. Makes me crazy that they don't have scent descriptions. Some are common sense but then, there are those that really need a description.
  19. Is the minimum order 25 lbs per fragrance oil?
  20. Ace Hardware Bulbs? Are you saying Ace has replacement bulbs that will fit into CW's Illumination line?
  21. Hi! I know nothing about candle making, I make tarts and have done much testing and retesting with waxes, fragrances, curing times, etc. I know how you feel and it can be frustrating to not get a straight answer. It has happened to me on these boards. I read these boards a lot and have learned some info by osmosis but again, have no personal experience. Increasing frag oil in a candle does not mean more throw. I have read posts that indicate too much oil can overload or saturate the wick and the wick will not pull up more fragrance. I would say visit www.candlescience.com. They are an overall great candle supplier. They have paraffin and soy wax and you can read about each and even blend if you prefer. They have excellent fragrances (every supplier is hit and miss but candlescience is more hits than misses). They also have wicks and I think containers/jars as well as dyes. Another really good one is www.naturesgardencandles.com. Again, more hits than misses and all the supplies. Most of use more than one supplier! But I feel confident for you to start with either of these as a one stop shop and then branch out from there. You might like the maple scent better from CS than NG or you might find better prices for wicks etc. Other board favorites, and there are many, are Lone Star, Taylored Concepts, Southern Scentsations,The Candle Source, Majestic Mountain Sage, Cajun Candles, Elements, and Aroma Haven. Trust me, the list goes on! I blend my waxes for my tarts to get a good hot and cold throw but to me, hot throw is more important since I only sell on the internet. In a candle shop, cold throw AND hot throw will be important. I think another important thing I've learned just by reading is pouring temps so that the fragrance oil is properly mixed in (mix at least 1 to 2 minutes) and then the temp at which you pour into the container for better adhesion. Some waxes sink a bit I guess so you will need to do a repour. Again, I don't deal with any of this with tarts, just kind of picked up on stuff from reading this board. I know the melt pool is important in hot throw and as it the size of the wick. If the flame is too big (big wick???) then the fragrance oil will all burn right away at the get go and the rest of the candle will be weak. I'm not sure this helped at all except sharing those candle suppliers. Bittercreek has a forum. They are another good supplier. You might want to read those forums. One more forum to try is www.dishforum.com. It is mostly for soap making but they do have a candle forum and a fragrance forum with helpful posters. Neither are as active as this board but every bit helps. Good luck. This really is a great board and love it here. You'll get more help in time, especially if you have specific questions.
  22. Lovely! Caught a type-O. In your soap ingredient list, frangrance should be fragrance. I didn't check each soap but it was in quite a few of them. Good luck!
  23. Steve, thank you so much. Darn, that means they are only 12 watts. Grrrrr.
