  1. Has anyone ordered this from Aztec yet, and if so, what's your take on it? It sounds beautiful and I thought it may be a nice scent to soap
  2. I'm goofy....I just read through this post again and realized SC was not really a good choice for Cocoa Butter FO. I'm glad I hadn't ordered it yet. I went to MMS and checked out the Chocolate Mousse. Sounds wonderful! Those that use it in CP, does it carry any type of "bakery" notes at all? I'm really wanting just a plain Cocoa Butter FO. Love MMS...pricey, but good!
  3. Sorry to hear that Lynn. We've been shipping alot and things have been running smoothly for all of our shipments. I do know that if an order is shipped on Thursday or Friday, it may not arrive until Tuesday the next week....that's the only thing we've experienced.
  4. Congratulations!! We do OMH Scented and Unscented. We have many people that pick up both and tell us they can still smell the unscented. I can obviously smell the scented, but when I smell them at the same time, it's almost like the unscented has fo in it, but just not as much.
  5. We get ours from www.giftsintl.com They have the best price we could fine anywhere. Very inexpensive.
  6. I need to go to rehab...It's somewhere between 160-175. And we just added a few more! I'm shocked we have that many. And we have a TON of samples. This is ridiculous....I REALLY need to get rid of some of these.
  7. Yeah, that's a scam alright. We had a call similar to that about eight or nine years ago. It's amazing that they still try! Thanks for the heads up.
  8. We just got square up about a month or so ago. Got tired of paying high priced fees!! We use ours all the time. As a matter of fact, we used it yesterday to charge several accounts and the money was in our business account today. Love it! People are like "wow" when they see us run their card, and when they sign "on the line" on my I-phone, they say things like, "this is crazy". When we ask if they want a receipt sent to their email, most chuckle because they can't believe how far technology has come. Love it! You won't be sorry
  9. Thank you so much! I appreciate it! I'll check out the threads again. I remember reading a couple, but maybe I didn't find the right one(s) So, back to the threads I go. Thanks again!
  10. We've used LX 14, HTP 41 and CD 5 in our votives. (Eco Soya PB) It really depends on the fragrance oil, but overall, the CD5 and LX14 worked about the same.
  11. I'd love to order from Aztec during their fragrance sale, but just don't know what to try. We'll be putting them in a parasoy blend and also soaping. Was wondering if y'all could suggest samples that you like. I wish they had the ability to post comments on their fragrances. Those can be soooo helpful.
  12. We did several batches yesterday with our same recipe (and used LouAna Safflower and Cols Foods Unrefined Shea). The only thing we changed was the amount of fragrance oil or essential oil we put in. We used 2 ounces instead of 2.50-2.75. We also cooked the soap a tad bit longer on one of the batches. That particular batch was perfect. Obviously the fragrance is a little weaker...but overall they appear to be normal. So today, we're going to do a batch, using CF's SO (besides we still have alot left since we ordered the 35 lb box), we'll also cook just a tad bit longer. We always believe "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". That was great until something broke. But when we do this next batch and demold tomorrow, that will tell us for sure if it's the CF's SO. And it may be exactly what Candybee said...just may take awhile to get hard. Thanks for the help guys.
  13. @ IwantItgreen - we got the High Oleic Safflower from Columbus Foods. @ chuck_35550 We HP, the loaves are always stored in a dry environment and when cut, put on metal "cookie" racks so the air can circulate around them. We use 38% water and 25% Safflower. We have "gone by the booK" as far as Quiet Girls recipe. We have always had wonderful results. I'm going crazy; double checking scales/batteries...eveverything. On the last few batches, we decided to go back to LouAna. They still aren't as hard as they use to be. Today, we decided to cut the fragrance oil down to 2 oz/3 lb loaf. We were using 2.50-2.75 oz/3 lb loaf. I'm just trying to take it step by step to analyze everything. We have a "production tracking" sheet that we document everything on. This chart tells us what time we started the batch, what time we took it off, how much each loaf weighs (each crockpot will yield two loaves), we document the fragrance/essential oils add and how much, as well as color/dye and from which supplier. Everything seems normal. I'm probably overlooking something. Thanks so much guys for your help.
  14. Some of these soaps have been sitting for about three weeks now. I can press my finger into some pretty easily. Never had that happen before after sitting for so long. I wasn't sure if there was some difference in the Unrefined Shea Butter (as Cols Foods Shea Butter looks very fine and the Shea from the board I believe was the Agbanga Karite). Or, if the Safflower was funky. So now I'm looking at the fragrance oils we used on the batches that came out on the soft side. They look and smell amazing though. So maybe I just need to be more patient. Thanks Candybee
  15. We've been getting our Safflower at local stores (LouAna) and we just finished off our supply of the Unrefined Shea Butter we ordered from one of the co-ops. So, we decided to order from Columbus Foods since we're producing more soap. (We HP and use Quiet Girls recipe, which is awesome. We've always had wonderful results with this recipe and no problems.) Suddenly, our soap is softer. We haven't changed anything about our process; temps, other ingredients...nothing. The only change is the Safflower and Shea Butter from Columbus Foods. We are questioning EVERYTHING. I'm am so confused by this. I did research and it appears there shouldn't be any difference in the Safflower or the Shea and the results should be the same. Has anyone else experience any issues? Any ideas what it could possibly be? I'm goin' crazy!
  16. We just placed an order this morning. Even though I read the newsletter and know it's offered twice a year, we couldn't wait for what we needed. But, the way things go for us, the sale will be tomorrow!
  17. We just had a request for Cocoa Butter in soap and was doing research when I came across this thread. We HP, so I think I'm gonna order and give it a shot. With Spring close by and Summer on the way, this would be a really nice scent to offer! Will let you know how it turns out. Oh...we've never ordered from SC before...any other suggestions that you love in soap?
  18. We love Peaks and carry quite a few of their oils, so it's hard to pick three. But, I agree with the others on Wild Mountain Honey...it's awesome! We also love their Key Lime, Honeysuckle and Botanical Orchard & Nectar...we soap these as well as put in a parrafin/soy blend.
  19. We debated this as well. We take our soaps to a local Farmers Market. I absolutely hate the word "farts", but the first time we took Monkey Farts, we kept the name. When the customers came in and started talking about the soap, they would laugh and say how funny it is. We told them it was a new fragrance and we don't want to offend people and are debating if we should keep the name or change it...everybody said "keep it". We sold out. We have asked people every week since adding it to our line and everyone says the same thing..."keep it". Only one older woman said "I wouldn't buy that for my grandchildren". (But she was like....210 years old) We just got into a new gift shop and the owner kept the name as well. Everyone is different...if one of the other shops want it but the name is offensive to them, I'd change it just for them...but will keep it for us as it sells like crazy.
  20. We just ordered some Coconut Oil from Aztec a few weeks ago and have just now got around to trying it out. It doesn't say anything on the container labels as to which it is....76 or 92. When I go to their website, all it says is "This container is 1 gallon". No description or any mention of 76 or 92. I know when I ordered it, there was a description. But, the fact there is nothing on the actual container mentioning what it is, and I can't find out from their site, makes me uncomfortable as to what it truly is. Do any of you order this from them and if so know which it is? I'm pretty positive it's 76 but want to make sure. I can always call them tomorrow, but wanted to check with you guys first to get your input. We also have a 50 pound pail (76) from Soapers Choice to use in the meantime, but would like to know what we have with Aztecs. Thanks for your help.
  21. We use Patch alone and we also do a blend with Orange EO. Both sell very well for us. You just can't go wrong with Patch!
  22. We're about to get into another store with our HP Soap line. Since we live on the coast and get alot of tourists, the owner wants alot of beachy scents. We carry a few, but need to look into others. Anyone have any suggestions that have worked well in HP? Oh, and she had this candle in her store that smelled amazing...it was a cross between fresh cut grass, fresh clean air and a bit of a beachy/salty note to it. Can't remember the name. Anyone have a clue what this scent might be? We have alot of oils, but none that smell like this. I'd love to find something like it that's b&b safe and give it a shot in soap. Any other suggestions for beachy scents would be so appreciated.
  23. I agree...perfecting the recipe. While perfecting ours, we read the boards "soaps that rock in cp". We had a few of the oils on hand and soaped those to use on ourselves. We searched the listing of our suppliers fragrance and essential oils, searching out the reviews from ones who had soaped them. We started creating batches in several catagories, floral, earthy, fruity, herbal scents etc. Then as we went along, added a few more. We watched what moved and how quickly. Got feedback from customers and went from there. We adjust as we go along. It's working so far.
