  1. That's how they contacted us too...through our website/business email. So they knew we were legit too. We did respond though because they were very very persistent and I was getting ticked. They kept wanting to place an order through our email instead of going through the website. I emailed them back after three or four of their emails and told them the reason we insist they go through our website is because there is so much identity theft/credit card fraud, that this is a way we can verify the customer prior to shipping....never heard from them again.
  2. Heads up....They're still at it. We just got an email for an order for over 300 bars of soap...wanted us to send to Netherlands as well and the email/order looked exactly like the above. This time they used the name Robert Jones with De-Crown stores
  3. Yep Candybee...that's what I was talking about...those little white buckets we get from the suppliers. We ordered Cocoa Butter, etc. and these are what they come in. When we have the time to run an assembly line, fill them with all the oils and butters and store, it is such a time saver. I'm going to be looking into the molds you mentioned too. We seriously need much bigger ones. Some of these wholesale accounts are now ordering 20+ bars of particular scents and these lil' green molds just aren't cuttin' it!
  4. OK...I finally found a Coco Chanel, but don't know anything about this company....The Common Scents. Is anyone familiar with them? If so, what is your opinion of their oils?
  5. We get our Coco Chanel from New Directions...our customers love it. We have it on order (ordered it Monday, the 8th) and it won't get here until next Thursday or Friday (18th/19th). Does anyone know of another scorce for Coco Chanel besides ND? This is an amazing scent and one of our best sellers in soap...but the shipping takes forever. Not good when you have orders and no oil
  6. @ Candybee...we use the small green molds right now...they only make 8 bars each. We just talked about getting other molds that will hold more. We are swamped and the molds we have are ok for retail, but when the wholesale orders start coming in, these just don't cut it! We have 24 loaves curing right now and have already started soaping another 16 loaves today. We also need to soap 16 tomorrow and Friday. Hopefully we'll be caught up by next week.
  7. We HP, but here's our process: We have these little white buckets that have lids. We measure out all the oils and butters for up to 16 batches. We fill three crock pots, space the start time for each about 20-30 minutes apart. While the first one is cooking, I measure out all the essential/fragrance oils for every batch we are doing and set aside along with the dye and any additives for that particular batch. We make up our lye solution as we go.

  9. Wow....So sorry. You know what though....if you've been there that long, you no doubt have a great customer base through her. (sorry if this was touched on and I missed it in the thread)...But anyway, customers know change. They know the scents, how strong they are, everything. All it takes is for a couple of them to go in and expect your products and see her new display. She will no doubt get a lot of negative feedback. She may very well try to get you back and renew the "old" relationship. So sorry you had to go through this...I think sometimes trials and errors in business helps us to grow. But it sucks when it's a "friend".
  10. I had to go and do a search through old threads and came across it. Think it was Candybee that mentioned it. Anyway, it's called Emerald Sea. I absolutely loved that fragrance and so did our cusotmers! I'd love to see this come back. It would be a nice addition to our summer line.
  11. No...not Tahiti Passion. But thank you....have any other guesses. OMG...this is going to drive me nuts. It was probably about ten years ago...maybe.
  12. We put all of our ingredients on our labels too. Today, many people are allergic to so many things. I'm not willing to take a chance with someones health/life. Plus, we've worked too hard to get where we are NOT to include that information. We appreciate the link to the bittercreek blogspot!
  13. Indian Summer for sure! And for the life of me I can't remember the name of the fragrance we purchased from them years ago...it had a tropical name and was awesome. This is going to drive me crazy until I remember!
  14. We get ours from Bath Essentials. The price is great, but we were looking to get them a little closer to home. Love them and so do our customers. After searching and searching, we've come to realize we will just continue to get them from Bath Essentials: http://www.bathessential.com/products.php?cat=18
  15. Didn't know if I should put this here or in Soapmaking...but anyway, we placed an order for the sisal soap bags from a company on the west coast and we are on the east coast. Love their prices $1.00/ea when you order 24 or more. But it takes a long time to get here. Anyone know of a supplier that's a little closer to the east coast?
  16. Thanks Shar for the suggestions. And yes, we do have Patch. So, when we get ready to soap this again, I'm going to try a couple of variations from some of the pointers given here. Thanks everyone for your input!!
  17. I forgot about Neem Oil!!! We have that on hand because I used it in a "paste" that I made for eczema. How could I forget that!? Anyway, it does take a little getting used to, but i agree...it's got that natural earthy smell. I may have to go back to the "drawing board". But does anyone else have a suggestion for the tea tree oil percentage on the 3 lb batch? Like I said, we added 2 oz along with .5 of Lavender. The only time we use TTO is in a blend for a Mechanics and Gardeners Soap. This would be the first time it would be the main EO
  18. We use both NG and CS T&B and to me, I can't tell a difference. I ran out of NG T&B and had to place an order with CS, so I ordered it from them. When it arrived, I had already thrown the NG bottle away, but did have candles poured. When I poured the next round with CS and did testing...couldn't tell the difference....and neither could our customers that LOVE this.
  19. Oh you'll have to let me know how it turns out. I know this Cinnamon EO soap is kickin'! It smells pretty amazing.
  20. Thanks for the input everybody. Our current recipe doesn't have Cocoa Butter, but does have Shea in it. We have a customer that has had a chronic skin issue for 40 years and uses our soap all the time and loves it. She won't use anything else. Go figure. But it could be we trade out the Shea with Mango Butter and add some clay. So does anyone have any advice on how much clay we should start with on a three pound batch. Oh...and if we are adding too much Tea Tree EO...what would you recommend we start with on our next batch?
  21. We've had repeated requests for a soap for problem skin/acne. We finally got around to making it. So we HP'd a three pound batch, added 2 oz Tea Tree EO, .5 oz lavender EO, 1 Tsp vitamin E...used no dye, no TD. I've used it on my face, but I don't have problem skin and am ready to give to a couple people for testing. But, I wanted to get y'alls input as to how effective you think it will be based on the eo's added.
  22. Bumpin' again since the initial testing of the Cinnamon EO in our first batch. For our latest batch we only added .70 ounces to a 3 pound batch. I used it last night, and to me it's perfect. Still had a nice strong scent and as for the "hotness"...this didn't have the words of Alicia Keys screaming from my head (...This Girl Is On Fire....) We could have added a tad bit more...maybe. But I'm pretty pleased with this one. Just wanted to update ya.
  23. Hi and Welcome to the board! After you have purchased a kit for her and she decides she wants to continue to make candles, she'll want to visit this board often. There is a wealth of information here and everyone is so helpful. She's going to love candlemaking.
