  1. Just wondering if anyone here has their items listed by scent? I am considering having a section where customers can go through a list of scents, and for example, order products from the 'Love Spell' page- having all the LS scented items there. So they can search by both item type and scent and order from there. It seems like it would be a lot of work to build pages for each scent, but I think it would be cool. Thoughts?
  2. Hoping someone can lend me some insight: Using Designer 218, Mals and Paypal Standard. I cannot seem to find how to allow the customer to update quantity in shopping cart! The only thing that shows is the quantity that was originally selected, a check box and a picture of a garbage can... If you deselect the check box, and hit recalc, it removes the product completely... The other thing is on my template my polka dot dandy, the top right corner has a shopping cart picture, but it does not seem to be an active link! I want my customers to be able to view the cart on any page they are on... Advice?:embarasse
  3. Aside from the bear, packaging, accessories (if you do them), how much wax and FO would you say it takes to make these? I guess I am not sure how strongly they would smell...?
  4. By me I have only seen them once- they were selling for $25! The crafter also sold 3 little washcloths rolled up and dipped, they were about $15. Washcloths!!! LOL
  5. You could either burn them on your own, or give them away... However, if you wanted to sell them, you can reduce them and label them as lightly scented.
  6. Looking through First and Main's website, the only ones I see that would work for dipping are the Scraggles and the Kohair Scraggles... Anyone purchase from them before? I want something furry that I can fluff with a fork!
  7. I am able to pour my clamshells and t lights perfectly... I use my regular 4 lb pour pots, but, only fill them up 1/2 way. It is so much easier to maneuver when your pour pot can be very close to horizontal. I almost never, ever spill or drip.
  8. I also was my Mother's primary caregiver (lung cancer) she lasted much much longer than anyone predicted. Putting my life on hold was the best thing I have ever done in my life. You cannot get those moments back, ever. Good luck to you, OP, no matter what you decide.
  9. I have taken orders for scents I did not bring right from the craft shows. I do not bring a full list of my scents, though. I like to talk to people about them. For the canopy, unless you use a very good UV inhibitor, you may want some sun protection (depends on where you live)... I would have an email sign up sheet where you can gather emails and send them info, or at least a link to your site.
  10. I just don't see how the FO would blend with the wax... You don't let FO just go in a warmer... it has to be blended with the wax and the customer would not be able to do that. If that was the case, why would anyone ever buy another tart/melt? They would just consistently add more oil... I would explain that melts and FO do not work that way...
  11. I normally measure pretty well for what I am pouring. I do have many many pour pots though, and will leave the wax in the pour pots. I do not like reheating wax that FO in it though. If it is unscented and just melted/dyed wax, I will leave it right in the pot. Any little tid bits of left over wax (again, there usually is not much left over) I keep in a container and use for firestarters.
  12. I currently Intuit for my mobile cc processing. Have been looking at Square, but because Intuit is more well known, I have not seen any benefit to change. However, in seeing Paypal's mobile CC processing, their fee seems a bit lower plus you get a debit card from them that gives you 1% back on all charges... which lowers the fee by a whole 1%. Anyone have experience with them? Plus buyers can also pay through their Paypal account right on your phone.... Thoughts?
  13. I use 2 different sizes... 5 oz and 16 oz. they seem to be the best sellers. The smaller size is great for people to try, but the larger size is such a great value! I have additional containers, but, they are more for specialty stuff, not too sure I want to add them to my regular production just yet.
  14. i have never done pillars... I was hoping to be able to use 4794 for them... To be honest, I do not want to start working with another wax type, or making sure they do not burn to the edge... maybe this isnt for me at this time. THanks!
  15. The roses are about 2.5 inches wide. I did play around with different sized tea light wicks (we use CS and they have a few different sizes)but what was key was for us to make sure the hole is drilled straight.
  16. I find CMS Baby Powder to be more perfume-y. CS I really prefer.
  17. I know the title was not exactly very clear... but I am wondering, when someone has a mold, for lets say, a cupcake... What do they do with them? Lets assume it is true to size cupcake... Do you wick it? Use it as a melt? If you wick it, how does it burn without a holder? Are they like mini pillars? It seems to me that something like that would be like burning a votive without a holder... ? :embarasse
  18. We make a ton of floating roses- after they are cooled and removed from mold, we use a drill bit to drill a hole straight through. We use pretabbed t light wicks and insert them, then use some extra wax that the roses were made from to fill in the bottom so no water leaks through. The bottoms end up being nice and smooth and the wicks are perfectly centered. They burn for about 5 hours each and look really beautiful after the flame goes out... Kind of like a beautiful shell of a rose... HTH
  19. I am in NY, and you are not allowed to include tax in the sale price. I do have a listing with me at all times that lists from the total cost, what is tax and what is product. I round down on my product price so tax is exact for the product. Lucky us, different counties here charge different sales tax!
  20. Even though I hate it, Love Spell. Peak's does well for us.
  21. We love love love CS Pumpkin Souffle! Perfect blend of spice and pumpkin. It sells awesome!
  22. The particular 'business' does not use warning labels on ANY of their products and make some wild claims about their products! I do not consider them to be competition, either. It is a joke of a 'business'...
  23. There are a few candle businesses in my area that are absolutely thrilled with making a small profit during shows. I know one family to takes about 4-5 adults to each show (even the small ones!) and they all stay there all day. Some of the show fees are about $40 or so, and they are very happy if they sold $100 in products for the entire show. That $100 in sales, minus the show fee of $40, minus their expenses of material cost (not all that $100 is profit), taking into consideration of any costs for the day such as gas, time, any food purchased at or for the show.... That is simply not enough money for me to be there for that many hours, not to mention all of the prep time! Clearly after show sales are a plus, but, it is difficult for me to justify all that time and prep time, to make not even a profit of $60 for the day... hourly that is just a few dollars an hour! I understand if these sellers are content with making such a small amount, if that is what they are looking for, but I cannot afford to put so much time and effort and testing to make such little money.
