  1. Im really glad this was posted because Im currently testing Astorlite F in a 3.5" pillar. I first tried RRD 50 and it was too big, had a blow out after 3 hrs. Then I tried #1/0 square braid cotton and its too small. After 3 hrs I had a 1.5" shell. Now Im trying the RRD 47. Im gonna power burn it and see how long it takes for it to blow out on me. I'll post the results.
  2. Those are gorgeous E! Thanks for sharing D-
  3. ROFLMAO! Sorry, I dont know what will get it out but I just had to tell you how funny you are!
  4. I finally did get an email saying that my scheduled delivery date is June 14th but I havnt tried logging into the website.
  5. ok, it was just a thought...i'll try an RRD 47. Thanks E!
  6. It finally happened! I tested a 3.5" Astor F pillar with an RRD 50 before after it had sat for a day or so, and it did ok. I just tested another one right out of the mold, burned it almost 3 hours and the sides of the shell were too thin, got a couple holes in it and when I blew it out, the wax started pouring out the holes. Im gonna try it again tomorrow after the wax has had time to sit and see if that helps. Any input? Thanks much!
  7. You should be using the same ones that the public would use. Make your votives in a votive mold and then put it in a tight fitting votive holder.
  8. Is anyone particularly fond of these wicks? They seem to burn well as far as dancing and smoking, but since they're not self trimming, the wick starts leaning which causes one side of the candle to have a thinner shell than the other. Im thinking I dont like these wicks and probably wont use them anymore, unless someone has suggestions for me on how to keep it from leaning to one side. Maybe I should keep it trimmed even during the test burning but how many consumers out there blow out their candle, trim the wick and re-light it? Im trying to do things during testing that I think consumers will do, so that I can properly wick it to be safe. I did prime the wick but I just used the same wax (astorlite F) that I used to make the candle. Any suggestions? Thanks!!!
  9. Ok, Awesome, thats what I do too. Im just test burning for wick size, got one more hour to go befoer I can determine if Im using the right size wick. Thanks alot E! Your so smart
  10. What was your experience? Did you have any that bombed because they were burned too long? And what do you do in that situation? Wick down ?
  11. One more question I have...How many of you marathon burn your candles? I usually will only test burn for the amount of time recommended (3" pillar test burn for 3 hrs) but I know some consumers out there will marathon burn a candle so it would be nice to know how the candle will hold up with a 6 or 7 hour burn. Do any of you do this or just stick to the recommended burn time? Thanks all, I appreciate your input! D-
  12. K, Have a question for you all. How long do you let your testers sit before doing the first test burn? Do any of you take it straight out of the mold and start the testing? Im asking because I unmolded an Astor F pillar and lit it, and after 30 mins, I have almost a full mp. Is this because the wax is still soft inside so its melting faster? Thats what Im thinking. Normally I would say my wick is too big but maybe I should give it a few burns before I decide to switch wicks. What do yall think? Thank ya..and come again!
  13. Whoa Whoa Whoa...are you sure she should wick up ? What about blow outs that are common in veggie palm wax pillars? I for one wouldnt want the mp getting really close to the edge as to make a blow out more likely. I dont know, if it were me, I would keep it as it is. I used an RRD 50 in a 3 1/2" Astor F pillar and it did about the same for me. Dont want anyones furniture getting covered with wax right???
  14. Oh wow, i just looked to see where CW is located! Pennsylvania! Im in TX! Oh boy, I wont get this order for at least a week!
  15. Does Candlewic send you an email or anything when they ship your order? Maybe Peak has just spoiled me but I placed an order with CW last night so I thought today they would've shipped out my order and sent me an email but I havnt gotten anything from them yet. Just curious. Thanks! D-
  16. Mine cracked too, big time. But I was able to see how the embeds came out and much to my dismay, they look like a pile of fried dog BLEEEP! *Sigh* Back to the drawing board
  17. Well, I took my heatgun to the insert and managed to get it out but guess what! All the wax inside of the insert came out with it. So then all i had was a shell and no bottom! I poured some wax in the bottom (after I sprayed it with mold release!!) at about 210 degrees, and now its cooling. Hopefully it will work. All I really wanna know is if I did the embeds right. We shall see, I'll post a pic
  18. I was tryin my hand at a hurricane and I forgot to spray the &*%^&* with mold release!! Im so freaking mad at myself, its unreal! I could jump off my balcony!!!
  19. Oh, Ok..so thats what it looks like! I think I know how to keep that from happening. I will probably keep a lil bigger shell on the veggie wax pillars make sure the mp doesnt get too close to the edge. Still testing tho. Thanks E!!
  20. I've been using an LX26 in my 3 1/2" astorlite F pillars and it works great for me.
  21. Ok, i've racked my brain and cant for the life of me what would give a bigger mp than an LX 30. I did a 4 1/2 x 5 round Astor F pillar for someone and well...#1, it didnt give the feathery design except on the bottom..pouring too hot maybe? I poured at 150. If thats the right temp, then all I can think of is that last time I used an alum. mold and this time I used a metal mold. It came out beautiful in the alum mold but not in the metal. I also didnt record what temp I poured at. I know it was cool..directions say 145-155. Anyway, #2..I wicked it with an LX 30 and after almost 4 hrs of burn time, I still have about 1 1/4" shell around the mp. I have no clue what would work better. Maybe an HTP 1312? or 1316, whatever it is..the biggest HTP that is made. Can someone please tell me what they wick 4 1/2 veggie pillars with? thanks much! D-
  22. Noooo, i said ive NEVER had the sides blow out, so I cant imagine what would cause this to happen! Over-wicking maybe???
