  1. I wish I had melted something else that maybe wasnt so important, lol. Just not MY HEAT GUN! I cant really spend the 25.00 right now for a new one. I've maxed myself out buying candle supplies since I got my DBA and am trying to get myself ready to start selling.
  2. I dont see any copper or anything, its white underneath so I assume that the wires are still coated??
  3. Last night when i was cleaning my molds and stuff, after I was done using my heat gun, I sat it upright on the counter. Apparently it was touching the cord and I didnt realize it. It melted the rubber on the cord and now I have wires exposed. Can I just wrap that spot with electrical tape or do I need to just buy a new heat gun? Please help Thanks!
  4. You need a high mp wax to make hurricanes. Im not sure which votive wax you are speaking of or what the mp is but it needs to be at least 150 mp and I dont know of any votive waxes that have a high mp like that so I would not advise using it.
  5. That is so pretty! Did you use an alum mold or metal? I cant get my palm wax to feather like that in a metal mold and I only have 1 alum
  6. Yeah, what wax are you using? I was using 6228 before it was discontinued and my votives always came out shiney.
  7. I have just noticed on my local suppliers website that they ahve discontinued 6228. Im glad I havnt spent much testing on it, because now I need to find a new pillar/votive wax. LOL, Im so irriated none the less!
  8. She was just telling you what kind of mold it is
  9. It shouldnt affect the way your candle turns out or how it burns, it just isnt pretty...6228 does that "brain" thing too but its never had any effect on the candle itself. Just poke your relief holes and continue as usual! Good Luck!
  10. Wow...I use OK6228 and it shrinks really really bad..but never below the pour line. Not sure whats up with that.
  11. Wow..those are awesome! Im glad I could help you.. you did a great job!
  12. Yes, heavier FO's (strong) will require a bigger wick, otherwise they will clog up your wick and you wont get a good flame.
  13. Crisco softens the wax so that it will burn better
  14. Thanks for raining on my parade Candleman! LOL...yes, I used the dip method. I found the instructions online and decided to try it. I think I dipped it too many times tho (multiple colors) and I got water bubbles. Oh well, Its just a tester..method and wick, so no biggie. It was fun tho.
  15. I thought this would be fun to make, and it was! Thanks for looking!
  16. It really helps alot if your jars are really clean. I use J223 and I always wash my jars really good. I dont even dry them, they go from wet straight to the oven and I let them dry that way while they're heating up. I have some containers I poured 2 weeks ago that only have one wet spot and its on the bottom. Clean jars is the key here! HTH!
  17. Gorgeous!! Again, I hope mine turn out half as good as yours!
  18. I dont use HTP at all because of the smoking. I like RRD 47 in my Astor F pillar..it took 5 hrs for it to blow out on me so...Imma stick with it
  19. You can use it but if I remember correctly, 4625 is not a translucent wax so it may be difficult to see your chunks thru the overpour.
  20. Thats what was thinking. I know with jar candles, you dont have to worry about overflows or blow outs but the bigger the wick is, the less burn time you have, so yeah, I agree. Need to wick down. Thanks Brand! D-
  21. Ok, i've been test burning 3 and I think I have come to a conclusion on which wick to use but I would still like everyone's input..it would be greatly appreciated! Pic #1 is a 3.5" Astorlite F Pillar, used RRD 47 and its been burning for 5 hours and still going. Edited to add: Now I have just checked on the Astor F pillar and after 5.5 hrs, the wall is starting to get very thin and I can tell Im about to have a blow out anytime. But its kinda cool that it can last 5 hours without any problems! Pic #2 is a 3.5" pillar made with 1343, it has an LX28 wick and has been burning for 3 hrs. The candle is consuming itself without flowing over. Pic #3 is a 3" jelly jar, made with J223..its wicked with an LX20 and has been burning for 2.5 hrs. It has consumed all the wax but Im thinking maybe I should go one down on this one. I had a full mp in one hour. Is this ok in jar candles?? Thanks for looking all and any input you can give is appreciated!! D-
  22. So I am wasting my time testing these huh? Im going to make one with no additives, just color and FO and see how it does, thanks! D-
  23. Hey Gin...I'll take your money, just send it usps! HAHA...no large bills please!
  24. I just requested some also! I hope they dont take a month to get there tho I didnt request any certain wicks tho..I just told them what Im trying to accomplish, which is single wicking a 4 1/2" pillar! Hopefully they will send me some good ones to try!
  25. Just how much do additives change the way a candle burns? Im asking because I have some that Im testing right now, I know what kind of wax it is but I dont remember if I used additives and how much if any. Is testing this kind of candle a waste of time? Im only testing wicks right now..dont know if that matters. Thanks!
