  1. I didnt know there was a 6224. But, pouring hot, around 180-185 and slowly, tapping your mold and adding vybar will help with the bubbles. Bubbles are caused from stirring vigorously before pouring, pouring too quickly, and pouring too cool. HTH
  2. Yeah, thats what I was talking about. After I lvl mine, there's always drips left behind that dried and just looks ugly. I cant seem to get a perfectly smooth bottom. My candle bottom I mean Thank you for posting your pic Candy!
  3. Yeah, sorry, the bottom of a pillar. Mine are just really really ugly after I level them. Wanted to see some others to see if thats just how it goes or if Im doing something wrong.
  4. Would anyone mind posting pics in the gallery of the bottoms of your candles? Im just curious to see how they look when they've been lvld. Thanks! Dana
  5. Not the wavy line, the white one right in the center of the candle. It goes all the way around and its from me moving the mold after I already poured the wax.
  6. I think Im getting the hang of the layered rustics. Here is a pic, decided to start with 2 layers and go from there is all went well. The line in the middle of the candle was an experiment, tryin to see if I could move the mold after the wax has been poured..answer is no! lol Hope you all like, thanks for l:cheesy2: king Dana
  7. Im sure you can mix it with the 4786. Im not sure how much to use tho..Im guessing it will need to be mostly 4786 to adhere to the jar like its supposed to. My suggestion is start off with 70% 4786 & 30% parrafin and see how that works. Now if your going to add crisco, thats prbably a different ball game and a more experienced person would need to help you on that one
  8. There was a thread about this recently, maybe this will help you http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25993&highlight=crisco Dana
  9. The mp isnt too high for container candles but if it says it releases well from the container, I wouldnt use it as it is. Container wax isnt supposed to release from the jar. You can mix it with a container wax or add crisco to the wax to make it adhere to the jar. Thats just MHO.
  10. Hehe, Thanks Jen..I'll check both. I have a hobby lobby close to me (as does everyone i think, lol) so that may be a better option for me.
  11. Very nice! Mind telling me where you bought your cookie cutters? I cant find them for some reason
  12. Thanks for the compliments! Im glad you all like them. I wish the green had come out better. Its a very light green, I need to go darker next time. I may just remelt it and add more color. Maybe the mottle will show up better in a darker color? Guess we'll find out! I really like the bartlett pear tho..I think it smells yummy and I was thinking of "keeping" it
  13. I personally dont know how a candle would explode unless you added gasoline to the wax. Anyone around here do that? And how much FO do you need to add to cover up the gas smell? Yuk!
  14. Ok Jen, Im still half asleep but let me try to help you. If you see my post in the gallery, its titled "rustic & mottled" The brown one is a rustic. I used 4045H and poured at 150 into a room temp mold, so yes, pouring cooler will give you the rustic effect but not every wax will do that. I've tried rustics with other waxes and just could not get the effect that i get with 4045H. The mottled candle is pouring hot into a hot mold and adding extra FO to get the mottling effect. It has to be a mottling wax tho!!! I use 1274 and it works great! You really need to use more than 1 oz pp. I did one the other day using only 1 oz pp and I only got mottling in certain places. I remelted and added more FO (i believe it was 7% pp this time) and I got the perfect mottle! As far as wicking, that is what wick pins are for or you can pre-wick your mold. I prefer to use the wick pins. When the candle is finished and hardened completely, you pull out the wick pin and there's the hole that you insert your wick in. I always use wick tabs because the wick will stop burning when it gets down to the crimped part of the tab and wont be a fire hazard. If you have any other questions, post them and Im sure others will chime in and help you out. HTH Dana
  15. Here's my latest. Brown is scented German Chocolate Cake and Green is Bartlett Pear I love that FO! Thanks for lookin! I know you cant see the mottle very well, I tried to get a close up and it didnt work. It is a complete mottle, very nice. This is exactly what I was shooting for!
  16. Beautiful E! I also prefer color blocks but Im thinking of purchasing some liquid dyes for marble purposes only. Its a PITA to melt the color chip.
  17. Im currently using an LX28 in my 3.5" pillars. Doing fine so far.
  18. I found a mis spell on the containers page. It says "thats what 'will' give you" when it should be "we'll" give you. Thats all I found that hasnt been pointed out already...your site looks great!
  19. I would ride with you Michael but I dont think my hubby would appreciate it I'll be taking the journey alone also, so dont feel bad! LOL
