  1. I agree. I think I will have to just double wick the ones that dont burn right. Thats the only thing I can think of because sometimes the largest wick I have isnt large enough, and I think I have the largest ones that are made. I have a really big chunk candle that I made a couple months ago, and I used an HTP 1312 which is for candles 4.25" and bigger. This one is I believe a 4" Pillar. I burned it last night and I have a really thick shell..the melt pool is only about 1.5". That one should have been double wicked.
  2. Yep, sometimes Im tempted to just make "show" Candles...Im pretty good at that. Most of my candles come out looking very nice but the way they burn is a completely different story. I'm gonna keep at it tho, I just ordered some LX and CD wicks from Peak..a sample pack since i've never tried those wicks. New FO's and colors and all that jazz too so it might get me motivated to really start pouring! I'll be posting pics soon!
  3. Hi Guys, I hope everyone is well! Ive been away for a couple months, just started pouring again yesterday. My camera batteries died, so when I replace them later, I'll post pics of what I did. I got away from candle making because I became too frustrated. They usually would turn out nice looking but would not burn for crap. No matter what size wick I used ( I would follow mold size recommendations) and it seems they never burned right. I would always end up with an inch and a half shell after the candle burned down about halfway. Again, I'll post a pic of one later so you can see what I mean. Anyway, I got on the board and saw pics of all the beautiful work you guys are doing and it motivated me to give it another try. Whats funny is, I havnt made a candle in 2 months or more...and I just placed a 150.00 order with Peak. I was so excited to get my order that I came very close to getting next day air delivery...but it was almost 100.00, so I declined. Im excited about posting pics again and getting everyones input. If anyone can give me advice on wicks and maybe tell me why they think im not getting the meltpool that I should be, I would appreciate it. Also, Im wondering about where you guys get your candle paints. I have a ton of paints here but they are arts & crafts paints, Im assuming they wont work. Thanks for any advice you can give!
  4. Awesome! I love the bright red shiny look! And very nice presentation also! Roses are my favorite flower!! Good Job!
  5. Wow, those look great! I can never get my votives to turn out right..always have a nipple on the top. Yours are beautiful! Good Job!
  6. Yeah, its a plastic 2 piece mold that I ordered from Peak. Kind of a pain to use those, but it was worth it.
  7. Yeah, it is kind of a bummer cause it did come out exactly like I was hoping (except for the red part, hehe) Oh well, its a tester..i can always make another one
  8. Its a Fuji, 5.2 MP..its a great camera but I really have to get a bigger memory card. The one that came with it only holds about 10 pictures.
  9. Thank you Breanna...I will keep this one for myself. It may not be perfect but it smells soooo good! White is fruit slices and black is Ocean Overlook from Lone Star. Cant wait to burn it!!
  10. Here's one that I unmolded today. Unfortunately, the white part has a tiny bit of red in it. The last candle I made in this mold was the red one I posted before and i cleaned it out but I guess a lil bit of the red dye hung on for dear life and found a home in my white wax. Here it is..
  11. I just got this new digital camera for xmas, and im still trying to figure it out. When I attach a picture, its really really huge and I have to resize it. I just didnt know what size it should be so I just played with it a lil bit. Still too big so I will keep playing with it
  12. Thank you all for your kind words! Im glad I can finally post pictures worthy of the compliments
  13. Oh wow..thats really big. Sorry =(
  14. I got the mold from Peak and tried it..Im pleased with how it turned out. Hope you all enjoy it!
  15. I got the candle holder at WalMart...1.97!
  16. Oh, Sorry I forgot to add that...the chunk is Fruit slices (used OK6228), the red is wild cherry (used 1274) and the other one is black raspberry vanilla (used Astor F).
  17. Here's a few I did over the last week. They are Christmas gifts for family, although Im not sure who gets which one I finally got a good camera so now I can post pics and you'll actually be able to see them! Thanks for looking!
  18. I saw that, but, unfortunately thats the recommeded wick for all of their molds. I was assuming that would be too small for this size mold.
  19. Hi all! I bought this mold from Peak and havnt used it yet and was wondering if anyone has used it and what size wick to use. I did a search and didnt find anything. TIA
  20. Yep, I just had to clean off my dining room table and put everything in boxes since Im working ALL DAY tomorrow and wont have any time on Thursday with all the cooking I'll be doing! My kitchen has been a mess too but I dont have as much stuff as you, so it only took me about 20 mins. Now I gotta figure out what to do with all the boxes! Hehe! Good Luck!
  21. Where can I find some of this wax? It looks like it mottles and does rustics, which is what I am looking for. Any input is appreciated! Thanks!
  22. Awesome! I just got one of those molds..cant wait to try it out!
  23. Im making the buns right now and was wondering if Amish Harvest would work since I dont have any cinnamon FO. It probly wont, i'll just do them unscented.
  24. I decided to try some mini cinibuns but I dont have a cinnamon scent. I received a sample of amish harvest from Peak yesterday, it seems like that would work, maybe if i do it lightly? Thats the only FO that would even come close to working. I could always do them unscented if nothing else. Thanks!
