  1. Last night I tried my first ever whipped butter. How fun is that??? LOVED it!!!! So anyways, it didn't turn out quite how I wanted. My son has dry skin issues so this is what I made: Mango butter - 60% Shea butter - 20 % Argan oil - 6% Borage oil - 6% Hemp oil - 6% Vit E - 1% FO - 1% I melted my mango added the shea and let it soften a bit, than added everything else and whipped it with my hand beater. It felt like crisco, and literally melted in seconds when I touched it. Than after letting it sit overnight it's not smooth and creamy, it's like chunky. I have to dig my finger in it to get out any and it comes out in chunks. Not what i had in mind! LOL What did i do wrong? Is an 80 butter to 20 oil not enough oils? Can I remelt it down and add more oils and rewhip? I'm not worried about how greasy it feels as it's just for my son's skin. But eventually I do want to make a less greasy one. The oils I have are: jojoba fco avocado argan borage hemp emu sweet almond. Anyone have any pointers they can give me? thanks! Laura
  2. hungry? I'm sorry, I couldn't resist!
  3. Dipropelyn glycol (I can't spell that word. LOL) I get mine from either NG or WSP, depending on who I'm placing an order with at the time).
  4. I am SO glad to hear that I'm not the only one who can not STAND love spell! It smells like something I should be drinking. LOL sweet, sweet, sweet.. yuk!
  5. I've tried a sample of it. It's ok, not great, not bad. I prefer the Hemp lotion from Aquatech, or the GMH from WSP. I would suggest ordering a sample of each of them before committing to a full gallon!
  6. for St Patty's day it makes me think of green scents... Like grassy kind of. I don't know why, but NG's Bamboo Hemp came to mind right away. It's kind of a grassy, green, spring scent. I love it!!! I haven't made it in a candle, but used it for room spray and incense. Just received my 2nd bottle of the FO. LOL
  7. Ohhh scented how did that one turn out for you?? My dad is a race car driver, so I thought about that for him. but than thought my mom would KILL me if I made a candle that smelled like that. LOL I'm sure she gets completely SICK of that scent!! lol
  8. I LOVE clean cotton from BCN. Smells just like Gold Canyon's Clean Sheets! WSP's clean cotton.. I don't know WHAT that is.. there's nothing clean or cottony about it lol
  9. I have the CS rainwater, and to me it's VERY floral. Not a favorite of mine. I would love to find one that isn't so heavy in the floral also...
  10. I know the chart you're looking for. I have it saved on my pc at home so if you don't have it by than lemme know and I'll email it to you. I just usually use FO at 1% for lotion, depending on the strength of the FO. You can use the calculater on WSP's site to figure out exactly how much this will be for your lotion. HTH! Laura
  11. another thing I've done is take a cheapie unscented tealight, melted it in the warmer, and added a few drops of FO to it. I've found the dpg/fo mix works the best.
  12. I mix my FO with DPG on a 1:1 ratio. Unless it's a really strong FO and I'll do a 2:1 ration of FO to DPG
  13. For the xanthan gum, it doesn't come with directions. But someone told me to use like 1/2 to 1 teaspoon to 8oz of base. Stir in well, but gently. Let it sit for a while, than stir again. Keep doing that until you see it completely dissolved. Also adding too much FO can thin out a base a LOT. HTH! Laura
  14. Oh dang, it thins out pretty good than? Yeah, I would try xanthan gum... I bought some ritzy off the classies.. guess it's a good thing I have some xanthan gum! lol
  15. Got your pm! I'll get that out either tomorrow or this weekend! Laura
  16. I've never smelled the YC version, but BCN's Clean cotton smells JUST like Gold Canyon Clean Sheets. So if you've ever smelled the GC one you'll know what it smells like.. Not sure if this helps or not? LOL I have the one from WSP, and it doesn't smell neither clean nor like cotton to me. I don't like it at all.
  17. I have (don't ask me why) 2 different honeysuckle's from WSP. I have Seet Honeysuckle Type, and True Honeysuckle. If you want, I can send you a sniffie sample of each of them. Just on a qtip if you want to smell it?
  18. MMS has small amounts. That's where I'm going to get my oils from to play with some salves and body whip....
  19. I'm adding another question to the ones Candybee already asked... how long do they last?
  20. I've found some scents pack a POW in the salts, and others are just, meh... The strongest I've made is from the candlemakers store, blueberry muffin. oh my those were STRONG! But yummy! So I added more salts and have it burning in my ugly lil potpourri crockpot now... It's fantastic!!! And I burn mine for hours, so every couple of days I just add a couple more drops of FO in and reboost it!
  21. I have both the aroma beads and the salt. I think the salt has a better throw. I'm not real impressed with the beads. Another good thing about the salts, is they can be refreshed, where the aroma beads can't. (And it's instant gratification) lol
  22. I use just the water softner salts to make mine. They're not very big though. I know there is a place that sells bigger hunks of them. Saltworks or something? I know there's a few discussions on here about it. Don't forget you'll want to add dendritic salt also. I've made them both with and without it and the dendritic makes a HUGE difference in the lasting power of the FO. These are also fantastic to but in a burner! HTH! Laura I just reread your post. You won't need to use any diffuser oils to it. Just mis the dendritic salt with your FO, than mix into the salts. I haven't colored mine, so I can't help you there, but I've never used anything other than the FO/dendritic salt.
  23. I'm not a candlemaker by far, but when I do make them, I use the 4630 from Candlescience. Top of my head I can't remember what wick I use, but I get a great hot throw from this wax. To find the correct wick, I used the tool on candlescience's website. Have you checked to make sure you're using the correct wick? I'm sure this isn't a help, but just a thought! Good luck!!
  24. PERFECT! Thank you! I don't want to buy 16oz of like Evening Primrose oil.. I know I won't use it up in time. I've been trying to find somewhere that sells smaller quantities. Off to check them out! Thank u so much!! Laura
