    Ditto on heating up the pour pots, and I use either paper towels, shop towels, or our old hand towels.... it all works pretty well.

    Hi there and welcome. If you are interested in making pillars, you can check out PEAK candle supplies. They have some 3 in pillar molds that are not from their normal line. They are still good molds, just a little thinner than the usual ones they have. The 3 x 3 3/4 molds are $1.80 each, and they have some 3 x 9 3/4 for $2.40. I have 10 of the smaller ones and they work out really well... HTH OK. my bad, I just checked the site and they are out of the 3 x 3 3/4 molds. but they still have the 3 x 9. If all else you can cut them down fairly easily, or just pour 3 to 6 in..

    I was using JOY wax from NG, but its a container blend.. works well, but have changed due to shipping costs. Even tho they are neighboring state, the shipping was getting out of hand.. Have never tried the EZ soy tho... but just wanted to put my 2 cents in bout shipping.

    Not sure about the inserts, but the square apoth can be tricky to wick. You may end up double wicking, but will still probably have a little bit to hang on from the corners. I used some smaller ones and did ok, but took several tries to get it right. HTH

    looks like you did a good job for your first try at em.. keep up the good work.. and your right, coloring gel is a whole lot easier than wax sometimes.... but you will get it

    not sure what the conversion is from c to f. What temp are you actually pouring at? sounds like maybe your pouring too cool... course that is JMHO..

    what kind of wick are you using now? also, what brand of FO? Just off of the top of my head, it can be several reasons. Your wick could be too big or too small..... how long do you let it cure?

    just a tip, but if you have coffee cans around, those make great pour pots until you can get yourself some. Since alot of people drink coffee, you should be able to get a large amount of cans pretty easily. Also, jelly jars are usually easy to find, and you can sometimes get very good deals. Look at WalMarts, BigLots, or places like that. Anyway, HTH

    I agree. looks like the wick is off center. Another tip is to turn your candle every so often, just in case there is a draft. That way it will burn more evenly. HTH

    You may singe the wax coating a little, but the best way to use the heat gun is by moving it constantly in small circles. It will get it hot enuff to smooth out, but wont do too much damage. As for suggestions, WalMart has a single temp heat gun in the paint department. Its a Wagner and it runs around 20 bucks. You can also get em at any home improvement store(ie lowes or home depot), but they run a little higher. HTH

    I have to admit, I dont remember ever ordering from them, but its very refreshing to see an owner actually come on here and reply. To me that shows respect for us "little" people. I salute you sir.

    This is just my preference, but I usually pour up to or just past the curve in the jar. You may also punch a small hole in the plastic tab to help relieve that pressure a little..... JMHO

    I have found that the little tab that is left from the wick pin will break off very cleanly after it has sat for a day..... once it has broken off, mine sit level. HTH

    I think what they are saying is that it may depend on how full you fill your jar. The space between the top of the wax and bottom of the jar lid could cause enuff pressure to pop it off. Thats just my opinion, but thought I would pipe up:)

    I really need to make some pillars. I am still not comfortable with em, and need to test a few different wicks, however I have too many pokers in the fire so all o fthat testing will probably be put on hold.

    Im sure you can do it.. Just take a deep breath, grab some gloves, and dip away.... and for the most part, they sell really well..

    I used a soy blend wax, and the lesson I have learned is that you have to make sure that you let the candles cure for several days to get a good hot throw on several FO's. There are a few stronger heavier scents that only need a few days, but over all I have found that if you let them cure for 4-7 days, and then do a test burn you may see a difference. Also, you may want to try HTP wicks for the soy. These are just some suggestions from what I have learned so far... HTH

    jmho, but maybe up the FO to 1.5 pp. Strawberry to me is a lighter scent, and I have not used that wax, but sometimes after a day they tend to get a little stronger.. at least mine seem to... HTH:) The bear looks good . You did a good job on it I think

    I think you will discover that you will need multiple wicks to achieve the results you want. I started out with zinc, and am now using HTP. There are still a couple of scents that I need the zinc on... it seems that the HTP is just too hot.. but man I like the melt pool that I get with em.. anyway.. just wanted to add my 2 cents worth

    I have been playing with a 50/50 blend of OK6228 and J223. They come out smooth, cold throw is excellent, and hot throw is AWSOME.. I had a friend test some caramel tarts, and they just filled the whole area. I was pretty pleased with how they turn out.

    I dont use the jelly jars, but I am starting to use the j223 in my apoth jars. I am using HTP wicks, and they seem to be working very well. Just thought I would put my 2 cents.
