  1. I generally use 1 to 1 1/2 oz per lb of wax for all of my candles. I use a small shotglass measuring cup for small orders and use a regular glass measuring cup for bigger orders. HTH
  2. my suggestion would be to vary your pour temp to see if that has an affect.. also, you may want to adjust your FO. I use 1 to 1.5 in all my candles and never seem to have a problem... but if you adjust your pour temp by a few degrees you may get the mottling affect you want... HTH
  3. Nature's Garden has an FO called Smoke Eliminator. its basically a lime cilantro......its pretty potent, and from the customers that have bought off of me, they say it really helps cover up the smoke smell..... so this mite be something to look at
  4. Nature's Garden has a kickbutt BNB... Bitter creeks is pretty awsome too.
  5. you all forgot the one BIG seller for bakery scents... Hot Orange Danish.... it makes the whole house smell great.. I use it in the JOY wax in 8 and 16 oz Apothecary jars.... edit..... ok.. I just scrolled down and saw that someone had ordered it.. you cant go wrong with that FO at all.... I currently am using about 40 FO's from NG...
  6. if you dont have a heat gun, or your shop is not near the house (like mine is) I use an old hair dryer... gets hot enuff to melt the wax and makes clean up a breeze.. you can also use the hair dryer if you do dipped animals to help tweak the look....lol.... HTH:cheesy2:
  7. I melt in my Presto pot and mix everythign in the pour pot, Unless its a fairly big order, then I do it all in the presto pot. Big tip... the presto pot is good for about 7lbs of wax without overflowing... HTH:cheesy2:
  8. I would use Nature's Garden, PEAK, Bittercreek, and I occasionally use Tradewinds.. they have some of the unusual scents you mite be lookin for..
  9. I was wondering if you people use a website? I have a small one, thru FreeWebs.Com. I am not really happy with it, but I do understand that its a free website, so I shouldnt expect much. I have checked into having one professionally made, but the minimum cost is over 300 bucks. Being a small business, thats a little bit of a stretch. I am trying to learn how to make my own using DreamWeaver, but as of yet, have not been able to master it. I do use a shopping cart thru PayPal, and it seems to work ok, and is really resonable to use as well. I just wanted to see what others thought or did.. cant wait to see the responses.
  10. It sounds like a good offer. Where can we take a look at the jewelery you are offering or a sample of the website?
  11. I use QuickBooks Pro. The cost is fairly high, but its a good program. Quicken also has a version that is relatively cheap, and you can get it at places like Wal Mart or any other place that sells software. Again, if you just need invoices and nothing else, MS Publisher has invoices as a template. You mite also check out a company called Proventure. They have alot of business software that is easy to work with. I may even have a copy of it somewhere... I will look and repost later. HTH
  12. Microsoft Publisher also has invoices, or if you want something to help keep track of inventory, or sales, or any of the business aspect of it, I use Quickbooks Pro, but Quicken also has a good one. HTH
  13. Before you buy the stickums(unless you really want to) try cleaning the bottoms of your containers with a little rubbing alcohol. I do this to all my containers. As for the wick, I use a long piece of brake line tubing that I got at my local auto parts store. They have a flare at one end that I use to put over the tabs. Most lines come in 12 in lengths, so it makes wicking a snap. HTH
