  1. Thank you very much Tootie! I went ahead and ordered my csn wicks. I thought perhaps this was a scent that was not used very much.
  2. I am having trouble wicking Home for the Holidays (Peak's) and Country Christmas (NG) using Feather and Starburst Palm. HFTH, I started out with a csn 12, then csn 11, I have had blow outs on both of them testing 3 to 4 hours. I will be ordering from CS and wondered if the csn 9 will work or do I need a csn 7? The Country Christmas is burning the same way. Just wondering if they are difficult in any wax, or is it just palm?
  3. Those are really cute, a different and unique way of doing melts!
  4. Thank you Stella, that is good to hear! I will be working on some tarts this week, gonna try adding a little more FO!
  5. No, I didn't buy a candle. I was just curious about the burn time. I had never seen anybody state a specific amount of minutes. Funny their web-site says something different. I was also curious about the oil on top. I always thought that when oil showed on the top that it was a sign of too much oil, that a candle can only hold just so much. Silly me!
  6. Stella, does the palm stearic acid help more with the starburst? I do have some, just haven't used it. I really don't have a problem with the starburst pillars, but then I have been mixing it half and half with feather palm, no problems getting them out of the molds. Using the starburst, alone, in the metal tart molds ....... that was something else! The feather comes out fine, even if it is a little warm. Turn the mold over and it just falls right out! How much FO do you use, Stella? I have found that with glass glow, I can only use approx. 5%. Can I use more with feather and starburst either alone or together?
  7. Has anyone ever heard of this company, it is out of Nacogdoches, TX. I could not tell what kind of candle is was, soy, paraffin, etc. The top of the candle had a lot of oil on it. Some with little droplets, some with small pools of oil. When I read the warning/instruction label, it suggested to burn the candle for only 45 minutes. One of the jars was the large status jar, which I use. There was a medium and then a smaller jar. They all suggested not to burn more than 45 minutes at a time. The wicks were approximately 1" long and suggested trimming to 1/4". Why, suggest burning only 45 minutes? With that much seepage, is it dangerous? I am just curious, because I have never seen a warning label like this before.
  8. I love your candles. They are soo pretty! I am still working on getting my chunks just right. :smiley2:
  9. i love your candles, they are very creative! Being a Texas gal, you just gotta love those little votives
  10. I used to use big plastic spoons, would put them in the oven (200 degrees) with the pouring pot then wipe the wax off. Now I use bamboo skewers. There are a 100 in a package and are pretty inexpensive. When you're thru, you just throw it out, no worries of having to clean the darn thing. I forgot to add, that when I am testing for color, I use disposable spoons. I just buy a big box of the cheapest spoons (usually store brand.) I thought it was worth a shot, and they have worked great for me. Hope this helps!
  11. I am so glad to hear this! I make palm wax candles, and am going to use it in tarts and melts. I hope I have as good of luck as ya'll have had.
  12. OK, when my son got home this evening, I asked him to smell it and he said he liked it, made his mouth water, go figure. I have been working on candles all day, so could have a little candle nose. However, I also ordered Strudel and Spice, and could smell it just fine. If someone else besides me can smell it, then I guess it's a keeper. I did a search after-the-fact, and could find nothing on CS's Banana Nut Bread, but if you search there are other companies that were recommended for their Banana Nut Bread. Hope this helps!
  13. I ordered some Banana Nut Bread from CS, and am pretty disappointed. OOB, this hardly has any smell to it, will it be better when I put it in tarts, or should I just scrap it? I don't know if it is just me, but when I get fragrance oils in and they are weak oob, I usually don't try and mess with them. Unfortunately, I ordered a 4oz btl., instead of a sample.
  14. When I get a chance, I'll give that a try. I wonder if pouring it cooler helps with easier mold release? Like I said, I had to flip them over had tap pretty hard with a spoon. I was afraid I would dent the mold, but they were ok. When I make my pillars, I'll make a little extra and pour up some tarts using both of the waxes, see what I come up with.
  15. I was disappointed it would not work. I love starburst and feather palm mixed together for my pillars. That is probably the only way I will make palm pillars from now on. I just assumed that they would both just pop right out of the mold, both being pillar waxes. I do the same way you do flighoffancy, except I don't understand what you mean by not measuring your pouring temp? When I pour the wax, it is at 200 degrees, poured into hot tart molds or pillar molds. Oh well, go figure!
  16. Thank you Richard! I love using the starburst and feather together for pillars. I love the look I get. I was just surprised there was such a difference in the waxes when making tarts. I, too, will be staying away from it to make my tarts. I actually like the look of the feather tarts and melts anyway. By the way, I love all of your work, not only is it beautiful, but very creative.:yay:
  17. Do any of ya'll make palm wax tarts? I made some feather palm wax tarts, using the metal tart molds. They turned out very nice, fell right out of the mold. I thought I would try starburst palm to make some tarts. These are both pillar waxes and I thought they would both work the same. The starburst would not come out of the molds. I finally had to turn them over on a paper plate and hit the mold ( I don't mean real hard! ) Finally it came out. Even though I used the same amount of FO, 5%, the starburst left residue in the molds and the feather did not. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem! I really don't like having to put them in the freezer to get them to come out, especially when I have a lot of them!
  18. Those are the cutest tarts. You have great talent and great patience! :yay:
  19. Stella, I'm sorry I did not see your post, we were responding at the same time! I wondered if it was a difference in waxes, too. I will try and find something that weighs an ounce and check the scale for accuracy.
  20. Donna, I believe you are right about the molds. It looks to me like the The Candle Source and Cajun Candles use the same molds. Peaks, Candle Science and there were several others that use another type of tart mold. At first glance, they all look the same, but if you look closely, the bottoms of those from Candle Science and those from The Candle Source are different. The ones from Candle Science were more expensive than what you paid, about .55, but I have seen the same molds as high as .68. I just assumed that all of the tart molds were the same. I am kind of bummed out because I bought 50 of them from CS.
  21. Are all of the metal tart molds supposed to be 1 oz? I bought some from Candle Science and have made a few, but they are only weighing .74 oz. I am using feather palm wax, don't know that this would make any difference or not.
  22. Thank you nmhoneybear! I will order some. It is kind of nice to know if someone has tried it and liked it!
  23. Has anyone tried Tennessee's Warm Orange Gingerbread?
  24. I am all for Viva! They are great for cleaning the molds, and I go thru a lot of them. I have not cut myself on the votives, but on the bigger molds.
