  1. Yes, that is the web site. I tried and cannot get it. i just got my order in from Salt Works. I ordered the xxlarge and jumbo. In an after thought, I did order the colossal, which cost me $9.95 more in shipping, how dumb was that! I am using the same recipe I used in the above post. I have it in a mason jar and shake it every once in a while, I will continue to do that for 24 hours. Then I will use a colander to drain the remainder of the liquid, put them on paper towels and blot, but I am going to leave them out to air dry, this time. I can't remember if it was the propylene glycol or the glycerin that helps the salt rock to retain the fragrance for a longer period of time. I think even if you use just FO, it can't help but have a little bit of film on it. The first ones I made really were not bad, just a tiny bit of film. I will keep trying to experiment.
  2. I am curious, what is mica? Also, for those of you that do sell these, do you also sell the refresher oils with them? I have seen some sites that claim there crystals will last a couple of months, then they suggest using 1/2 bottle of refresher oil to bring back the sent. Ok, one more question. (I hope!) When the sent is totally gone from the crystals, could you sent it with a different FO? I just think that these are so pretty and an alternative to traditional potpourri. Thanks to everyone!
  3. Thank you Desertrose! I have ordered some more salt rock from the Salt Works. I really like the large sizes. I'm going to try just the FO and color and see what I get. Thank you again! Debbie
  4. Does anybody know where I can order a mini-chunk silicone mold from, other than Bittercreek? I am looking for the 7/16" with 124 cavities. Bittercreek is out of it and does not know when they will be getting any in. Thanks for your help! Debbie
  5. I love all of your candles, especially the food ones, gorgeous! You do some beautiful work.
  6. Do any of ya'll make crystal rock potpourri? This is the rock type. The chunks are in various sizes. The recipe I am using is: 1 lb rock 1tsp glycerin 1/4 oz. Di-Propylen Glycol 1/2 oz to 1.5 oz Fragrance What I am wondering, is could you just use FO and color only? This recipe actually calls for candle dye, but I have seen other recipes using soap dye. I put the rocks in a plastic container and then mixed all the liquid ingredients together and poured over the rocks, closed the jar and shook well. I did this several times during a 24hr period, then took them and spread them on a cookie sheet covered with paper towels and blotted....a lot!! I did use 1 full oz. of FO, but it was still under the suggested amount. Also, about how long should these last and how do you go about refreshing them. Thanks much your help!
  7. Thank you Chris and Stella. No Stella, I didn't use the palm stearic acid. I have some, just never used it. I'll finish burning this pillar and see what the end result is. I probably am just behind everyone else with ideas, but after I test burned 3 pillars I thought what do I do with them now? Well, why not break them up and use them in my tart warmers! I thought I had come up with some kind of new invention! LOL! Silly me! Chris, I will try adding more FO on my next one. I know some FO's just aren't going to do as well as others, but this one just seemed like it would be a good one for early fall! Thanks again!
  8. If i am testing wrong, I hope someone will chime in here. I have tested using the silicone, and know that that wick is not going anywhere. I would not make and sell something that was a hazard. Stella has a lot of expertise with this, maybe she will chime in. :tiptoe:
  9. The Silicone is great! It also comes in a squeeze tube. I think it has been discussed on another thread about this, but you can use finger nail polish remover to get silicone out. I poured a little bit in the bottom of the jar and let it sit for a while, I still had to scrape it out, it is not going to detach real easy. Someone else may have a better method, but this is what I have done.
  10. Sorry, I did not mean to reply twice! Stella shared this suggestion with me. It is hard to get the silicone out of the test jars. I did not know that using the stickums in a test jar would hinder the outcome? Mine do become detached when it gets down to the very bottom of the jar, not always, but more times than not, it will happen. By the time the candle gets down that far, the test is pretty much at the end of the road.
  11. I think she is using the wick stickums for test jars, as do I. I use the ones from Candlemaker's. I only use the silicone for the candles that I sell.
  12. I have had this happen before, but I can't remember who I got them from. I use palm wax and pour a little hotter. I only had a few that leaked and it was not the first ones that I poured, either. I thought the same thing, that they were defective.

  14. It cured about 1 week. Do you think this particular FO should have been cured for a longer period?
  15. Thanks Candybee, i will give them a try. I really love the scent and thought it would be good for fall. Deb
  16. I made a 3x31/2" feather and starburst pillar using NG Indian Summer. Although it smells fairly strong from the bottle, I get very little CT or HT from it. If that weren't bad enough, I am on my 3rd 3 to 4 hour burn, and it seems to be burning straight down, burning outwards very little. I know things can change in future burns, but all the pillars I have test burned, none have burned anything like this one. I used 1/2 feather and 1/2 starburst palm, csn 12 wick, 5% FO. Is there something about the palm combo that needs to be wicked differently? This pillar turned out so beautiful, I am hoping to be able to find a stronger FO (if possible) and figure out the wicking. Thanks everyone!
  17. I like my cd wicks. I would try double wicking with two cd 6's or cd 8's. Hope this helps!
  18. Those are beautiful candles! I just made some container chunk palm wax candles. I goofed up the first time and did not heat the jar and got a bunch of jump lines. Made another one used the heat gun and it turned out pretty! I know nothing about posting pictures, so I will see if I can get the children to help their Mom! Ya'll are such an inspiration!
  19. This board has a wealth of information on it! Before you go any further, I would decide the kind of wax that you want to use and search everything about it on this board. You said previously that you bought a Yaley beginners kit. Yaley is something that Hobby Lobby carries and is not as good of quality as other suppliers. Search on here about other suppliers. Then I would order a kit from them, tell them you are just starting out and they will help you. Getting quality supplies is very important to making good quality candles. Good luck in your new adventure and remember, don't rush it! :yay:
  20. Please take your time with this. I was so glad that I found this forum, it has helped greatly. It has a wealth of information on here. If you can not find what you are looking for, ask for help. There are wonderful people on here that will answer your questions. I know when I started out my family and friends did not understand about all the testing that was involved. Making candles is a lot of fun and is very rewarding when you finally have a great burning candle. But it does take time and patience! :smiley2:
  21. I love it! Congratulations, may you have much success!
  22. I hate Lavender! I can't stand the smell, but I am glad to see that there are others that don't like it either. I thought there was something wrong with me!
