  1. I found a bulb at Lowe's and Home Depot for these warmers, but the only wattage I could find was 20, 35 and 50 watts. The bulbs from candle warmers are 25 watt and do very well with melting my palm wax tarts. I am afraid if I go with 20, they will not melt and the 35 will be too hot. Any ideas on which way I should go? Thanks much!
  2. Tracey, the candles are beautiful! I also love the labels you chose, it is very classy!
  3. Apparently I am not going to the right website! Could someone please send it? Thanks much for your help and sorry if I scared anyone! Nevermind! I never thought to go to the soy wax section, I kept looking in the container wax section. Thanks again!
  4. Is Aztec going to discontinue all of their palm waxes, too? I still have a little glass glow but am looking for a new supplier and Aztec had good prices! Thanks bunches! Deb
  5. Palm wax is all that I use. I have invested a lot of time and money in testing this wax and do not intend to start over with something else. I used to order my palm wax from CS, but if I can get the same thing elsewhere, I'll be a happy camper. Start reading the ingredients on products in the grocery store, you will be amazed at how much palm oil is being used. I never gave any thought to it until CS made it's claim.
  6. You could weigh your empty jar then weigh it again after your wax is poured and the candle sets up. Subtract the weight of the jar from the weight of the completed candle and you should get your liquid weight. This is if I'm understanding you right, if not, forget everything I just said! Hope you find your answer! Deb Ok, I just went back and re-read your post, I realize you're not making a candle, you just want to know how much 1 lb of palm wax yields in a liquid state. You could put your pour pot on your scale, hit the tare button, then pour your pound of wax in the pour pot, this should give you your weight in liquid form. Once again, I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for or not, just trying to help! Deb
  7. I, like Richard, use feather palm in the clamshells. I pour at around 180-185 and I have never had a problem, except with a faulty clamshell. If you look on etsy and artfire, there are a lot of people that use palm wax in clamshells. Deb
  8. I tried to make some rock potpourri last summer and ordered three different sizes from Salt Works and mixed them together. I don't know if there is a better way to make it than the way I used, but it took me forever to get it made. I wished I had more patience because I think it looks so pretty!
  9. Those are very pretty, let us know how they burned for you!
  10. Thank you so much Jeff for the help. I can't wait try it because your candles turned out beautiful! Deb
  11. Vagabond, that is a beautiful candle, at what point when it is cooling, do you use the heat gun? I never would have thought of doing that, what a great idea! The salsa jar that was mentioned is straight until it gets to where the lid goes on and from what I am seeing, even the tiniest curving of the jar keeps the crystalizing from trying to repeat the pattern. The status jar goes straight up with no curving at all. It could very well be the bottom, who knows. I know if I don't hit the lower part of the jar with enough heat with my heat gun, I will not get good crystalizing, this is right above the thick base. Anyway Vagabond, you are my hero for the day, as this has driven me crazy trying to fix it! Deb
  12. I vote Peak's, it is geat in palm wax!
  13. I use the status jars and this happens no matter what I do. I always heat my jars and cool them on racks that are elevated about 5 inches above my counter. I have wrapped them with towels, covered them with boxes, covered only the tops and still got what looks like a repeat pattern in my status jars. I have used the vibe jar and the whisper jar and never did I get the repeat pattern. I am wondering if it has something to do with the status jar being straight sided vs a jar with curves like the whisper or vibe jar. The pictures that are in Jakalex post are of a status jar and a jar with curves to it. If I read the post right, she covered the green jar (curved) and had no repeat pattern. I am guessing the green jar would probably have come out alright without covering it. I hope this helps you a little bit. Deb
  14. I just recently bought some oils for the fall and some for next spring, this was my first purchase from them. The ones for next spring, I really love oob, just wondering if it is wise to order larger sizes of the ones I like since they are closing? I liked them because they were so different from what other suppliers had.
  15. I love those drawers, I have four rows stacked two high. I bought mine at Target, but Wally-world had them about $8 cheaper when I bought them last year. I, too, love CS's fragrance oils ...... I confess, I am part of the epidemic!
  16. I love your presentation, you did a beautiful job!
  17. This year I am adding some pumpkin and leaf tarts for fall and some snow flake and Christmas tree tarts for the Christmas season, along with my regular tarts. We'll see how it goes this year. Last year I spent all summer working on chunk containers and pillars for fall, but they didn't sell very well. For me, they were very time consumming, but I wanted to give it a try because I thought they were so pretty and different from a regular candle. I would give a try, you never know what will sell unless you try it! Deb
  18. Is there a difference in the stearic acid that is in bead form vs the one that is in flake form? Thanks much! Deb
  19. I'm probably not going to be of much help because I used feather palm for my chunk pillars. I never did have any turn yellow, but the color of the chunks will bleed some into the uncolored part of the candle, which I think looks very pretty. I'm thinking they could be turning yellow because of the FO. Maybe someone who has used the starburst to make them will chime in here. Much luck with them! Deb
  20. I am like Richard, I use silicone molds in various shapes for my tarts, using feather palm. I started out using the glass glow and had no problem with getting them out of the silicone molds, but I didn't like how they were oily on the outside even at using 5%. Don't even try and use it in the clam shells, it will only crumble when you try to get them out! Deb
  21. I use cd wicks and have never had one flare up, by not poking holes. When I tried cdn wicks, I got a larger flame, but for me it was no bigger of a flame than when I was testing the csn's. I have tried to single wick with different wicks, but I always come back to the cd's (DW'ing) I saw that someone tried wicking with eco's and since I have some, I'll test it out when I get the time. Deb I use status jars 7.5 and 10 oz. w/ cd wicks. As I previously stated, I have not had problems with flare ups with the cd's.
  22. I do love working with palm wax, it makes a beautiful pillar. You've got several to choose from, each giving you a different look. It is really hard to tell you what wick because each scent is different. I am re-making the same 3 inch pillar using Orange Clove because the first 2 wicks didn't work, the pillar was burning too fast. I had to order a new size just for this scent. If you do a search you will find a lot of answers to whatever questions you may have. And remember you have to do lots of testing! Lots of Luck! Deb
