I agree with Vicky. We changed about 5 years ago and maybe 3 people said they liked the old better (it didn't stop them from buying the new one though). All in all, I don't think that too many customers care about the jar...just the good smelling candle inside.
We use a couple (rocky mountain pine, morning dew, pumpkin pie spice) but the problem is they drop scents all the time and don't tell you (until you get your order and they are not in the box). Not to mention they are still on their site and available to add to your cart.
When we sold them we put them in a clear cello bag with a tent card on the top. We put a warning on about keeping it from coming in direct contact with car interior (or something like that, LOL)
Turn down from buyers or the organizations wanting to do the fundraisers? Around here that is how all the schools do their fundraisers and I would not expect it done any other way. I'm not running a bank so I can't afford to put out all that money upfront for supplies and then hope and pray I get it all back.
I require full payment when the order is placed with me. I will only take a check from the organization for the full amount. The individual people can pay the organization any way they want to. HTH and good luck!
4 years ago I could not sell a pumpkin pie candle to save my life. I had craft shows every weekend in Nov and was burning it at the 1st show. Everyone said it smelled so good but they wanted a pumpkin spice. Yep, you guessed it. I renamed the exact same candles pumpkin spice and sold em like crazy. The power of changing something as simple as a name!
We make these in about 20 different fragrances. They range from perfume dupes to hippy types of smells (patchouli, nag, DB, etc.) to fruity (star fruit & mango is our top seller) to food. The tweens seem to like chocolate and sugar cookie. HTH some.
Lopsided....way more on the biz side. I rarely get to play anymore. When I do I find myself wanting to play all the time and not concentrate on orders or restocking. DH has to drag me back to reality
